Try using the installer from Apple directly.
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1426 - download this and it should be a full .dmg file and should work with Leopard just fine.
Then install..
Message *may* come up and it is a standard warning, but that you got the file from Apple it is okay.
That 'warning' message is part of Apple security and is what they call a 'sandbox' policy - a warning that you *may* be installing bad software if you are not careful about where you got the installer from.
This is why I always get any program from the manufacturer directly, be it Adobe for Flash, Mozilla for Firefox browser of what ever.
Good luck!

  • Can i update itunes from one computer to the other with a thumb drive

i have a computer that has no internet access but a laptop that does. is there a way i can update it with a file on a thumb drive?

    Hello Boyesreef,
It sounds like you are wanting to update another iTunes library with files you have on a flash drive. You should be able to import them with this info:
To add files to your iTunes library, you can use these options:
Drag files from the Finder to the appropriate icon on the left side of the iTunes window.
Choose File > Add to Library (on Windows, choose Add File to Library or Add Folder to Library) and select the song or folder that you want to add.
From: iTunes: About the Add to Library, Import, and Convert functions
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1347
If your end goal is that you would like both libraries to match on both computers, you can use the following article to copy the more complete library to the other computer all in one go:
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,

  • Can't update itunes on my computer

I give up.. have tried for hours and hours to update my itunes to no avail.  It seems the installation package cannot remove older versions.  I also see a message stating that the file needed is on a network service that is not available.  This is my home computer.. I'm not on network.  I'm pulling my hair out over this. I hope someone can help.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

It tells me I need to update safari, and I have already done that.
That's an unusual message to be getting on a Windows system. (Typically it's a Mac itunes installation message.)
I'd like to have a closer look at that error message please, tamara.
Try another iTunes install. While the error message box is open, hold down the Alt key and hit the PrtSc key. Paste the screenshot into an image file (using a program like Paint), and save the file.
Start a reply here and click the wee camera icon at the top of the reply window. Click "Choose file", browse to the image file, select the file and click "Open". Now click "Insert file" to insert the screenshot into the reply.

  • How can I update iTunes on my ipad?

I am unable to sync my iPad with iTunes on my lap top.
    The warning reads:
'The ipad "xxxx's ipad' can not be used because it requires iTunes version 11.1 or later. Go to www.iTunes.com/uk to download the latest version of iTunes'
but when I go to iTunes.com/uk it redirects to apple.com and I can not find a link to update iTunes for an ipad anywhere.
If I'm being dense I apologise - please someone help!
    Thanks

Correct. The iTunes App on an iDevice is not the same as the iTunes Application for a Computer.
The message you are getting relates to Updating iTunes on your computer not your iPad.
What type of computer do you have...?
    If a Mac...
Click on the Apple icon.. Top left in Finder...
 > About this Mac > Version...what does it say?
If it says OS X 10.5.8... you have Leopard. If that is the case, you need to Upgrade to Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.x
You will then be able to Install iTunes version 11 to Sync your Device.
Upgrading to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
    Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
    Snow Leopard Tech Specs
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    Other countries...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard and iTunes.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...

  • Can't update iTunes

Every time I try to install iTunes 10.5 on my macbook pro, it gets almost to the end (blue progress bar moving along then stays at about 90% for a couple of minutes), then my entire computer crashes/shuts down. This has happened three times in a row. What can I do to successfully update iTunes so I can update my iPhone? Thanks!

    1) Nope. I rarely even use QuickTime, unless it's to view a video I took with my digital. So I never really even updated unless the little notice opened up prompting me to do so.
    2) Actually, when I try to uninstall, it's not in the add/remove window, but the uninstall link is in the programs menu. But when I do that, the InstallShield comes up, loads for a few seconds, and then nothing.
Also, when I try to open QuickTime by itself, I get this message:
"Your copy of QuickTime 7.0.2a63, QuickTime Player 7.0.2a63 has expired. Please visit www.apple.com/quicktime/download to download and install a new version."
I can't update iTunes without the latest QuickTime, and I can't download the latest QuickTime without installing iTunes, but it keeps giving me errors. I had circular dilemmas like this. =/

I have purchased an IPAD 2 - everytime I try and update or download a new app i get e.g.  'BBC iplayer available to download when you go in to the itunes store on computer" Why cant I download direct?
I have an ipod touch and have no similar issues - is this an itunes account setup issue?

Have you tried logging out of your account via Settings > Store and tapping on your account id on the right-hand side, and the logging back in to see if that makes any difference ?
You could also try a reset and see if you can then download them after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
A third option is to download one of the updates to your computer's iTunes and connect your iPad to it and sync it across, and then see if you can download the other apps/updates directly on the iPad.
