  • Can't 'update' or 'restore'...please help!

It's currently in disk mode and keeps reving up and then clicking like it's trying but won't work. Its currently connected to the power supply and nearly fully charged but has the 'do not disconnect' sign on it and when i try to restore the updater jst freezes.. whats wrong?!? please help..

    Alana:
With your iPod connected to a USB port:
    (1) Go the Start menu and open Control Panel
    (2) Open Administrative Tools
    (3) Open Computer Management
    (4) Open Disk Management (may take several minutes to open)
    (5) In the top half of the window that opens, find the drive that is either labeled as holding your iPod or has about the same number of Gigabyte space as your iPod.
    (6) Right-click on that iPod drive
    (7) Choose Format-->Fat32 and click on the box for "Perform a Quick Format." The quick format may take a few minutes.
You should be able to start afresh from there. NB this will wipe your iPod clean.

  • Firefox 3.6.15 is not downloading on MAC OSX, not via software update nor via manual download. It claims i do not have full admin rights which is not true.

If I do a manual download via FF website, it starts to install, asking if I want to replace an older version of FF. If I then continue, it says that it cannot process as I do not have access to 'certain components'????
I have full admin rights, it is f... my computer. I am running a Macbook Pro on OSX 10.6.6.
FF is giving me more problems lately, a.o. not showing certain flash elements (have latets flashplayer). Anyone else getting annoyed with FF?

I eventually did an archive and install to get 10.4.7 installed on my MBP the last time around. Now 10.4.8 is doing the same thing. Neither via Software Update nor manual downloads of Intel delta or combo updaters will apply. Arg!
Has anyone else seeen this? I've tried applying the update while booted regularly and also in safe boot to no avail.

  • Can't update or restore my ipod - please help

It only seems that i can synch my ipod when i plug it in when windows loads up. Itunes automatically loads up and my ipod synchs. But then if later i want to synch again as i have added new stuff it won't. When i try to restore it to the factory settings to try and resolve it my ipod dissapears from the list and it says restoring my ipod but nothing happens. The progress bar just goes across forever and my ipod comes out of the do not disconnect mode and i can disconnect it. Any ideas on how i can restore it please???
    Hope this makes sense!!!

  • Can't get sound to tv from MBP. PLEASE HELP.

I am having trouble getting sound to the tv from my MBP. I tried it on two televisions, a sharp and an LG. The only way I could get sound was through a stereo receiver on the sharp, and that took some doing.... So, I tried on the tv I mainly watch - and no sound. Is there possibly a setting within the tv, or should sound be automatic once i connect the rca into the headphone port on MBP.
The tv has the hdmi for video, and ports for audio, I plugged the white and yellow. I know it is probably something really simple - but I have tried all that I know to do. Thanks in advance....

You need an adapter. Mini DisplayPort can not output audio.

Then you need another HDMI to HDMI cable to connect this adapter to TV

A lot of people have been unable to access Yahoo e-mail on their iPhones or iPads. My wife’s iPad was not downloading Yahoo mail, although her iPhone was. Both used IOS 8.2. We tried deleting the account several times and troubleshooting all of the other settings. The problem appears to have been that allowing the IOS to automatically create the account on the iPad resulted in the wrong settings for the incoming server. The following procedure, pieced together from two websites, fixed the problem for us. So far, so good.
    https://portal.smartertools.com/kb/a2659/configure-imap-for-iphone-or-ipad.aspx
    https://help.yahoo.com/kb/mobile-mail/imap-server-settings-sln4075.html
    On the iPhone, tap Settings.
    Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Tap your Yahoo account, then delete it.
    Tap Add Account.
    Tap Other.
    Tap Add Mail Account.
Complete the Name, Address (email address), Password and Description fields.
    Click Next.
    Ensure IMAP is selected.
Enter the following incoming mail server information:
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - Requires SSL
    Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
    Port: 993
    Requires SSL: Yes
    Hostname is mail.yahoo.com.
Username is your full email address
Password is the same password used to access webmail.
Enter the following outgoing mail server information:
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - Requires SSL
    Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    Port: 465 or 587
    Requires SSL: Yes
    Requires authentication: Yes
Username is your full email address
Password is the same password used to access webmail. It may have been entered for you.
    Tap Next.
The iPhone will establish an SSL connection to your IMAP and SMTP servers.
    That’s all!

    Hello piyushgaur,
Thank you for the question.  It sounds like you are trying to setup your various email accounts in the Mail application and are looking for the appropriate server settings.  I found an article with some steps that can help.
Mail will automatically configure the server settings for many common email providers.  Additionally, you can find settings for common email providers using the Mail Setup Assistant:
Mail can automatically get the email account settings for many email service providers
    Open Mail.
Choose Add Account from the File menu. If this is the first time you've opened Mail, you will be automatically prompted to add an account.
Enter your Full Name, email address, and password. See Mac 101: Mail article for more information.
Usually, your email account can be configured automatically for you. If you use an email account that Mail cannot configure automatically, continue with this article.
Tip: You can also use the Mail Setup Assistant to check for your email service providers settings. If the Mail Setup Assistant does not have settings for your email service provider, use the "cheat sheet" of questions below when you contact your email service provider.
If you are not able to find the server settings for your email providers using the Mail Setup Assistant, you can contact your email service provider to obtain the specific settings.  Use the form in the section titled "Email account settings 'cheat sheet'" in the following article to obtain all the necessary information:

If the tech didn't erase the Mac as I stated above, he hasn't properly prepared your Mac for a second hand owner. Nothing less that erasing the HDD and returning the Mac to the shipping version of OS X so you may set up the Mac as a new Mac will suffice. All Macs since the introduction of OS X lion have shipped with iLife apps from the Mac App Store installed for free. Prior to Lion, they shipped with the boxed version of the apps.

  • CAn I run Lion and snow leopard on the same computer with different sign-ins?

Alternatively, partition your internal HD and dual-boot it. Do note that you have to reboot to switch back and forth. You can't do it by logging out and back in.

    Hi,

You did not contact us. This is just a user to user forum where we try to help each other out. No one here works for Apple and as far as we know Apple do not even come here. Ring back the number you originally called on and ask for an explanation.

    Greetings,
    Questions:
    1. What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
    2. What version of the iOS are you running (Settings > About)?
    3. Do you use MobileMe/ iCloud or another server based sync solution like Google or Yahoo?
    4. Do other changes to synced information like Address Book content sync successfully back and forth?
Based on your description it sounds like you have a 1 way sync issue.  Events sync fine between the iOS devices and fine from the computer to the iOS devices but not from the iOS devices to the computer.
    Try:
Backup your computer and iOS devices before doing anything else:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
Ensure all the devices in use are fully up to date: Apple > Software Update / Settings > General > Software Update
Make separate backups of critical data:
    Backup your computer Addressbook: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=AddressBook/4.0/en/ad961.html
    Backup your computer iCal: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2966
Reset syncing on your Mac: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
Reply back if that does not resolve your issue.
    Hope that helps.
