I can't update my 5800

I've just got a 5800XM and the Nokia Ovi Suite tells me I need to update my phone. I've backed up the phone and followed the onscreen directions but when I get to the Install screen I get a message saying "Internal Error - Due to an internal error, installation could not be started. The connection to your device failed. Try reconnecting your devide to the computer. If that doesn't help try restarting the computer". Well the phone is connected and the connection was working fine but I followed all of the instruction and nothing. I cannot update the phone. Any ideas? Oh by the way I've tried doing a software update over the air, but no luck. Help!

Uninstall Ovi Suite completely. Download and install the latest Nokia PC Suite and Nokia Softwar Updater. Connect your phone to the PC using a USB Cable, and run NSU.
If you still get errors, soft reset your phone: Type *#7370# at your homescreen using the dialer. You will prompted for the lock code, default is 12345. This will wipe out everything stored in your phone memory, therefore back up your phone memory using PC Suite or Ovi Suite before you proceed.
Now, try NSU again.

Help I can't update my 5800

Mine problem is that when I want to update mine phone (nokia 5800) it says ''there are no updates available''
but now i am having v20.0.0.012 and there is already is a firmware v50 for mine phone
I also have read something about changing the product code but I can't do that because I don't have a USB cable
I also tried to change the server profile but that did not work.
Does someone knows of a hard reset will work ?
I hope that someone could help me

Reasons why a phone cannot update:
1. It is a country variant - country variants often get the updates later, or have updates skipped altogether. A Turkish country variant product code for example, skipped v40 and updated from v31 straight to v50.
2. It is network branded - phones acquired from network providers or these providers' stores SIM free are branded, and will not get updates until the networks approve and modify the updates to their liking.
3. Special editions - These special editions are chartered editions and may never get updates unless taken to a Nokia Care center.

Help! I can't update my nokia 5800 using the NSU.

Guys I've been trying to update my 5800 v31 to a v50. but the updater appears with a configuration error message. I tried to follow the steps on the help menu. But I can't find an open port to use with the updater. all the ports are closed. What do I do??

Can't update 5800 due certificate error?

Hi,
I tried to update my 5800 but I still get the error message "Server not available"
I added a new server profile with this URL https://dms.update.nokia.com/dms/omadm
But the error remains.
So I checked the URL in my browser and I got a certificate error message which says that the certificate expired on 13.12.2010.
Is this way I can't get an update?

you dont need a server profile, the servers might be currently unavailable.

Now, it has been several months since other people were able to update their 5800 to v. 30. Does anyone know when we in Denmark will be able to update?
Or, is there any alternative way to update?

I think FW update availabilty depends on the Product Code and what region is that based on.
Like many of us who are still stuck on v21 where v30 and v31 have already been released and our neighboring countries got these updates immediately.
For example you have Euro variant phone and you are residing at N.Am, if the update have been released to Euro variant phones, you can still access to it even you are in N.Am.
no matter of disregard the phones' type and color. But if you have SIM-locked phone, you are lucky if you can update bcoz other operator doesn't want to release update for their branded phones.
One thing that bothers me is why Nokia did not release an update in a particular region altogether?
And if it bcoz of the network/market of that particular country, why do they taking too long ?

Can't update 5800 ota

When i try to update the 5800 OTA it keeps saying 'connection error'
It finds the newest update (v50 which is avaliable) and ask's me how i wish to connect
• Contract Internet
• Contract WAP
No matter what one i use, i get the same error message.
Currently using V40 but it keeps messing up my phone, even after doing a master/hard reset.
Any ideas?
Ps. I know there's other threads that have the same issue, read those, but still no luck.

but FOTA safest way to update your phone. i prefer update your phone via FOTA. but you must have correct settings. contact your service provider then ask for internet settings.

If you have free trial on your phon efor 7 days, you need to open in your phone:

This I wrote in the "Nokia E71 and E66 get free navigation, today" thread but it fits this one as well. So here it is. (Yes I know that the 1 year licens is €10 now).
This "news" is really a slap in the face to us N82/N95 owners who also runs S60 3.1.
If Nokia from the very beginning told us that "Sorry folks, if U got an older phone you don´t be able to get the free navigation Ovi Maps" then my reaction would be, ok that´s life.
But when you read things like
Ovi Maps are already available for download for 10 Nokia models, including the popular mini Nokia N97, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and Nokia E72. More models are expected to be included in the coming weeks.
And everywhere on the Nokia website
-Navigation on your Nokia. For free. Forever
-Mobile navigation for everyone
-All this with only one click. And it's all free.
-Ovi Maps Free navigation on your Nokia.
You really hope that it will be free on your Nokia.
And on top of that the E66 and E71 get the Free navigation (So the limitations could´t be the software S60 3.1). Then I think me and many N82/N95 users are mildly upset.
After used five Nokia phones I don´t planning to buy a new one. Instead of spending €99.99 for 1 year navigation I put the money in a HTC android phone. Then I can spend €25-€30 on a no limit navigation software.

Trying to update my 5800

For 3 hours I'm trying to update my 5800.
Tried with OVI suite, no luck, moved to PC Suite, again, no luck.
30 times.
This is absolutely ridiculous, can't Nokia make it harder? Or, maybe, don't provide updates at all?
This way, I spent half of my day here, to no avail, trying to do something that is impossible.
Note to NOKIA: Update Software DOESN'T WORK. Ok? Got it?
Now, a important question, who wants a 5800 Xpress Music with 3 months of use that doesn't accept updates? So I can go and buy a phone, a real phone.

Serious Problem after update my 5800 with 40.0.005...

Yesterday,I updated my 5800 with FW 40.0.005. I really impressed with the new easy way of move in touch screen but this version has a big problem that I considered.
First,you have to set as a ring an .mp4 file or any video file and then lock your mobile 5800.
When you have an incomming call the screen isn't working normally and it stops for miliseconds and starts again!
When it happens the power of mobile increasing sharply and I am upset what it could happen if the call continue too much.
Please somebody check it as soon as possible because it may do harm to our mobile by any explosion from this problem!
For temporary solution a suggest not to set video files as a ringtone and if you want to do this don't lock your mobile which helps the video file to work normally.

there are alot of bugs in v40 and its is discover by the ppl like you. I Have MY nokia 5800-d1 with the RM-356 type having SWV:21.0.0.25.

Radio application can't be exited in the end

The screen won't turn off when you plugged the power. Same that it won't turn off after you unplugged from power.
Applications cannot be uninstalled. It says "Unable to start the installer" or something like that the radio application could not be quitted
The new SW update doesn't allow me to install updates. It just says fail...

Can't update my 5800xm

Nokia has launched free maps for select models. 5800 is amongst the models listed. When I tried to install the app I got an error msg saying I needed to update the phone. I tried FOTA and PC updater but both methods returned "No updates available".
My phone firmware is this:
V30.0.011, Date: 29-06-2009, Custom Version: 30.0.011.C01.01
I have read V31 is now available for 5800xm. How do I update my phone? My operator is BSNL, India.

How can I update my app store account ?

Hi, I have a new Iphone and I wanted to add some applications from apple store.
Unfortunately, I had a message saying that I was using app store on a new device (true) and they needed to check some security thing from my visa card. Unfortunately, I had a new card and do not have the previous one anylonger (the previous one expires in 1 year but had to be cancelled).
Therefore I am blocked and cannot get into my account.
How can I update my bank account and get into the apple store again ?
