You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, the App Store may prompt you to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," but the hacked app may be something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.
    1. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    2. In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
    File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
    Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu of search criteria, initially showing Kind. From that menu, select
    Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
    Raw Query
as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
    4. The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.
If you find these instructions confusing, ask for an alternative method.

  • Can I update my iMac8,1 OSX to 10.9.4

I have a iMac8,1  Processor Name:Intel Core 2 Duo  Processor Speed:3.06 GHz   Number of Processors:1   Total Number of Cores:2   L2 Cache: 6 MB   Memory:4 GB. I have 2-2GB DDR2 SDRAM, speed: 800MHz. I have been advised by the Genius Bar the this machine may not be able to handle the processing demands of the Maverick OSX upcoming upgrades. I lost a previous hard drive in the machine before upgrading from 2 to 4GB DDR2 SDRAM. I am currently running with OSX 10.9.3. It does slow down when pressing with multiple windows. Can I update the OSX to 10.9.4 without danger crashing the system or overwhelming the hard drive because of inadequate processing memory?

The eshop 4GB module offer is just 2- 2GB DDR2 SDRAM, speed: 800MHz.  I was referred to eshop  by an Apple genius person who made the 4GB Module assumption also. I replaced the 2 -1GB DDR2 SDRAM, speed: 800MHz memory in the machine after replacing the hard drive
Too many apps launching at startup/login eating up CPU and RAM cycle/resources is why I close all applications before shutting down. Otherwise there  is a long wait for the machine load up  and come online.

  • How can I update my iMac 2009 to be able to use apple tv?

I do have an iMac since 2009 and I have just now received the apple tv as a present, I found I cannot use airplay with my "old" iMac...
    Any solution?
Can I update or install something into my iMac to be able to use apple tv?
    Thanks for the support!

Several users have reported using an app called AirParrot for this purpose.

  • How can i get my Imac, running OSX 10.6.8 with a 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, how can i get Final Cut Pro 4 and DVD studio pro 2 to run on it?

I just bought an IMAC running OSX 10.6.8 (not sure what flavor that is). The processor is 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo (Late 2006). When i run Final Cut Pro 4 on it I get the following error.
                        "Configuration error
This software requires certain hardware or software which is missing
                                    * AGP graphics Card"
If Final Cut Pro 4 doesn't run on my system, what version of Final Cut can I run on this as I am a filmmaker and really am comfortable with Final Cut Pro.
On the same note I also have DVD studio Pro 2 and that just quits without any message.
Hope any of you can be some help.
    Thank you,
    Doug

This is my first mac in a long time so i'm not sure about what this mac is as i didn't buy this from apple (ala Amazon). I'm a tad confused about the Intel/PowerPC thing. I do know the software version for sure, but the Intel/PowerPC is very confusing. I just need to find someone who would know about this question. It doesn't say G5 on this computer. Thats my biggest confusion. Help Me...

  • How can I update my imac g5 and I want to know how I can update it in 2014

I need to update my imac g5 but it's old so I need to know how to update it this year of 2014

The general assumption is that Apple no longer has OS 10.5 install disks. However, some people in the US have been able to get a copy by phoning the US Store at 1-800-MY-APPLE and asking for an operating system specialist, than asking for OS 10.5 install disks. Not a "sure thing" and the last ASC report of someone doing this that I've see was about 16 month ago. Still, it costs nothing to hear the word, "no," but you might get lucky.
Otherwise you are thrown into a miasma of confusing third-party offerings. Legitimate copies of old Mac OS software, especially 10.4 and 10.5 are in high demand and, as such, attract the scammers and the scalpers. I have seen legit copies of 10.5 offered for more than the market value of a used G5 iMac. Not worth it.
Try auction sites or Amazom but remember there are NO SAFE, LEGAL downloads of any Mac OS software. Some people will sell you a download license that doesn't exist. Another resource is a Mac Users group. Find one in your ara with this link:
    http://appleusergroupresources.com/?s=apple+user+group+near+me
Gray disks from another Mac model will likely not work, and a gray disk that shipped with an intel Mac definitely won't. A full retail install Leopard 10.5 disk looks like this:

  • Can I update an iMac from another iMac using Carbon Copy Cloner?

I change office locations every 6 months and move to a similar iMac setup. At each move, using external hard drives, I update the "older" iMac HD with the current Mail, Addressbook, work files, etc. Currently, I am using Snow Leopard; the machine I am transitioning to is behind, using Leopard.
This time something new is before me, I purchased (honestly) the Snow Leopard upgrade for the iMac that I am transitioning to. So I have an OS upgrade plus a file plus a lot of application additions/upgrades.
The question is, can I use *Carbon Copy Cloner* to make an image of my current iMac and upgrade the 2nd iMac with all my recent applications in one fell swoop? I would

Yes. Noondaywitch is correct. As long as the version of OSX is no older than the one the newest Mac came with, and the older Mac is compatible (enough RAM, etc), and the drives are formatted properly, you should be able to clone from one Mac to an external HD, then clone that back to the other one.
When you make the clone, boot up from it and run several apps, make sure your internet connection and browser work, etc.
Before cloning back to the other Mac, boot it up from the clone and do the same.
You may have to change a few settings for your internet connection, of course.

  • Can't update my iMac to 10.7.4, every method says file is corrupt.

I am somewhat new to Mac but I haven't had to post on this forum yet so I will try to be as clear about the issue as I can be.
I have an iMac (21.5 inch Mid 2011) and I am running 10.7.3 right now.
Software update informed there was an update available to Lion (10.7.4) so I tried to let it do it's thing and update it for me.  The update downloads, then informs me that it has to restart to complete the installation.  The progress bar after the restart shows it is working, and at the "Cleaning Up" stage, I am prompted with this message and only have the option to "Restart":  The update "Mac OS X Update" can't be installed.  The update could not be expanded, and may have been corrupted during downloading.  The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs.
I tried that method about 5 times, and kept getting the same thing.  I read that I should try to download the .dmg files directly from Apple's site which I did.  I downloaded the Combo client version and just the regular client version but when I try to open both .dmg files, I get "invalid checksum".
I did a disk utlity scan which came back to say that things were OK.
    What can I do?

jdotmattinson is correct! I have the same issue.
It is a router/ISP issue.  Tried the software update drop down for 10.7.4, failed.  Tried to download 10.7.4 Combo Client update, invalid checksum.  Tried to download 10.7.3 Combo client update, invalid checksum.
Went over to Win7 Dell laptop, downloaded 10.7.4 Combo update, transferred to MacMini via USB drive. Invalid checksum.  WHICH led me to diagnose it wasn't my Mac, but Apple's servers or my ISP/Router.
Went to work, downloaded on XP, put on USB drive, brought it home, copied, installed just fine!
Did a hard factory reset on Motorola Surfboard SBG5560, invalid checksum again.
Going to buy a new router tonight and test it again with dowloading 10.7.4 Combo update.  Will keep you posted to see if that fixes it.
Btw, if a new one doesn't fix it then it's my Comcast ISP service that is messing it up. Which is going to make me cry....check out this link... be afraid, be VERY afraid if this is the problem/solution.

  • I can't update my iMac to 10.7.2

I just got my iMac 21" a few weeks ago and I am trying to do the software update from 10.7 to 10.7.2. However, it won't install the updates.
It is saying "The update Mac OS X Update Combined can't be saved. The update could not be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading. The update will be dowloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs."

Try downloading and running the OS X Lion Update 10.7.2 Client Combo. You may also need to download and install the Lion Recovery Update afterwards.

  • How can I update my iMac 10.5.8 up to mavericks?

Okay so, I have an iMac OS X, bought it in 2006, and I wish to update it to Mavericks.
The problem I have, my Mac doesn't have the App Store, and the only way to get the App Store is to update the computer to Snow leopard. Do I really have to purchace Snow Leopardin order to get to Mavericks?
    Please and Thanks

A 2006 model cannot run Mavericks. It can run Snow Leopard and Lion.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • What can I update my imac Tiger 10.4.11 to?

I've been reading and it sounds like the best I can do is update the software to Lion and order additional 3 GB of memory - but is that enough to run Lion? Or am I better off just upgrading to snow leopard?   Also, if upgrading how do I do a backup or could I take imac to the local Apple Store and they could help?  I inherited this imac and I love it but I know technical support, etc. has expired so not sure what help I can get?
    Hardware Overview:
      Model Name:          iMac
      Model Identifier:          iMac6,1

      Bus Speed:          667 MHz
      Boot ROM Version:          IM61.0093.B07

  • I can't update itunes with Mac OSX 10.5.8

I upgraded to a Iphone 5 and tried to back up my Iphone 4. I was told I needed to upgrade to the most recent version of I-Tunes. I downloaded it and it told me that it wasn't compatible with my operating system. Now I can't back up my IPhone 4 so I can transfer the data to my new Iphone 5. Any suggestions besides upgrading my operating system?
    Thank you!

    Rgarner,
Make sure you have the latest iOS version on your phone! If you dont have an iCLOUD account... Set one up!
Theyre FREE! once you do that, make sure youre connected to a wifi network(will go faster) and back up your phone to ICLOUD. There no longer is a need for you to back up your phone to a desktop unless your just hellbent on doing so. The Cloud is awesome. If you were to lose or have your phone stolen or it just dies and your away from home youre hosed right? Well only if you just back up to your desktop. If your backed up to the cloud you can get the info to your new phone from anywhere in the world, relatively speaking. Also you have access to findmyiPhone.
ps. Almost forgot. You only need lion if you want to sync your desktop to the cloud. I e. your phone updates icloud, your desktop updates icloud, icloud updates both your phone and desktop. The desktop is about to become irrelevant! pshaw.

  • Can I update my iMac running 10.6.8 from 32 bit to 64 bit?

Need to update to 64 bit in order to run TurboTax 2012. Can this be done? If so, how?

    You have three ways:
    1. Press 6 and 4 keys when your computer starts to boot with the 64-bit kernel-
    2. Download Startup Mode Selector and select 64-bit > http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/992591/SMS/32-%20or%2064-bit%20Kernel%20Startup%20Mod e%20Selector.zip
    3. Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion

  • Can't update to the new OSX ML

That's the message that pops up:
"There was an eror eith the app store, please try again later". It says that for already 2 weeks.

    -   Tempoarily disable anti virus software.
    -   Apps such as Little Snitch, Hands Off, and Net Nanny can prevent apps from downloading including Mountain Lion.
    -   Make sure your Mac qualifies to run Mountain Lion. See Step 1 here > Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mountain Lion.
Keep in mind, for downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation.
Mountain Lion is a 4.35GB file. If you have a slow internet connection (determined by your ISP), the file may be timing out before it can download.

  • I still can not update my imac from 10.8.2 to 10.8.3 how can i uodate it?

when i click on update box the processs stops at 2.4 mb and it gets paused which the process takes 249 mb to be complete but it dosen,t change and stays at 2.4 mb , i tried even from support website >http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1640, with that when i start the updating it goes very slowly  to 57 mb then all of the sudden goes backward to 0 . it seems something block the process and  it dosen,t work . i live in middleeast and the speed of internet is not as fast as north america , could the problem be because of quqlity of or speed of internet ????? iam very frustrated

Navigate to: ~/libary/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist and drag the file to the desktop. Then restart the computer in Safe Mode and use Software Update to download 10.8.3 and then restart normally.
If you don't know how to get to the plist file noted above then:
Finder - Go (menu) - Go to folder and copy and paste  ~/libary/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist in and hit Enter.
