I can't update my iPad 1 from a downloaded iOS 5 download

I own an iPad 1 running on OS 4.3. I have been trying to update directly fromiTunes without luck because the downloadlink breaks up during the update as aresult of internet instability. I thereafter downloaded the file " iPad1,1_5.0_9A334_Restore.ipsw" using Download Accelerator Manager DAP 9.7 on Windows 7. An attempt at using this file on MacBook gives error "You are not qualified for this update". Meanwhile I checked the update status of my Mackboo, it says there are no available update for my Mac. My iTunes is also the newest version.
How do I use the downloaded file to update my iPad and also the one for iPhone 4.

Are you sure that you have downloaded the correct file to upgrade your model of iPad 1? How are you trying to use the file? Why are you intermixing Windows and Mac OS X? Which playform do you actually use to manage your iPad?

Are you trying to update OTA (over the air) on the iPad itself? To do so, you need to have iOS 5.x or above installed. The OTA update feature was added with this version. If you are running below iOS 5.x, you need to use your PC to update the iPad to the newest iOS 7.
Check your iOS version: Settings>General>About
The number displayed under "Version" is your current iOS version.

No, unfortunately not the 1st gen iPads... The new iOS 6 will run on the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and iPhone 5; the iPad 2 and third-generation iPad; and the fourth- and fifth-generation iPod touch.

I need to update several ipads to iOS7 and was wondering if it's possible to download the update once, perhaps through iTunes, and then updating all the iPads from that.
I can't see if this is an available option anywhere. All the iPads are under my appleid if that makes any difference. I'm on iTunes 11 as well.

Actually, there is a way to do this... There are various updates on the net for each specific model... i.e. 3G or WiFi, generation 2, 3, or 4 etc...
Download the specific update as a downloadable file from the internet.
Save it on the desktop (or wherever).
Attach the ipad to the PC and iTunes will say that there is an update available. DO NOT run this but cancel.
Run a backup of the iPad. (And also perhaps, copy all the pics/other files etc. and save them to your PC)
Press <Shift> and Update button on the Summary screen in iTunes and navigate to source file (which in my case is on the desktop).
Perform the update.
Go through the setup procedure on the iPad without doing any further restores etc. No further action SHOULD be necessary from iTunes.
Note: all the updates worked without having to do a restore of the backup I made but obviously, it's best to do one just in case.
All files/apps/photos/music were left intact.

Try temporarily disabling your firewall and/or anti-virus software on the computer. You could also try logging out and back in to your itunes/AppleID account.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

Hi a full downlaod of the update file takes 8 hours from my corporate network, we have a downloaded 4.3.3 update ipsw file on the same pc as itunes. Can iTunes use that update file rathet than go to a server to again pull the update file to the pc?

If you've downloaded and saved the ipsw file then just press and hold the shift key when clicking on the Check For Updates button on device's Summary tab on your computer's iTunes, and you should be able to navigate to and use that ipsw file.
