Im having trouble updating my ipod touch to IOS 4.2.1
"An unknown error occured when restoring Jakinessex's ipod (-1)"
What can I do to fix this?
I click update on my new Macbook-Pro in Itunes,
It vertifys the software,
And just before the update happens,
The error message pops up,
Im also trying to change the apple id on the ipod(I dont have the store icon in the settings to change my apple id, Which the update my ipod hasn't got)
So could you also tell me how to change the apple id in the Version IOS 2.2.1

i have an ipod touch 4th generation. i want to update it to iOS 5.3 but everytime i do from itunes an error message occurs in different forms. however the most frequent message is: There was a problem downloading the software for the ipod: "xxx's ipod". An unknown error occured(9006). (i currently have version 4.2.1)
along with this, it assumes like 12 hours for the download to be complete and and arror message appears after a few hours.
what is the problem and how should i resolve it to update my ipod touch?

Okay. I've tried syncing it first, resetting it first, downloading the firmware, uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, I've checked my connections and ports and everything, run all kinds of diagnostics, and nothing is working. Every time it says it's backing it up, my iPod resets and then it's back to square one. I'm going to restore it and see if that helps. What a pain in the butt, especially since it wouldn't back it up.... >.<

I am having the same issue. I just had the battery replaced at a third party store. The battery powers the ipod up but it needs to be restored. It is saying it isn't eligible for rebuild. i can't update my ipod touch ios from 4.1 to 4.3.3 i don't know why i already try every method i can like turn to DFU mode and then restore or rn the itune as administrator but it still can't it always show the 3194 error i have no idea now what to do with it. I was updating my iPod Touch 5 iOS from Ver 7.0.3 to Ver 7.0.4 and myiPod locked up. I can not reset or restore the unit. The only thing it will do is show me a graphic of thr lightning cable facing up to an arrow and then to a circular blue iTunes icon. I interpert this to mean "connect the iPod to my computer thru the USB cable while iTunes is running. I do this and nothing changes. Total lock up. Any ideas?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

All you can do is get a newer model iPod. The 2G can only go as high as 4.2.1. Its hardare does not support a higher iOS version
