I can't update my mac from 10.7 to 10.9

Im trying tp update from 10.7.5 to 10.9    From the appstore im clicking on free upgrade, its telling me the application could not be completed.  Any ideas?

Then you need to contact Apple directly. Phone them. Or you could take it into an Apple Store and ask then to install the 10.8.2 update.

  • How can I update my Mac from OS X 10.5.8 to OS X 10.7?

I am trying to update my kids Mac so that they can get I tunes to work on a brand new Ipod touch and I must have atleast OS X 10.7 to get the Itunes update - how do I do this??

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from their stores, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $20 for a single user, or $30 for a family pack that covers up to 5 Macs.  You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
If you are outside the US call your national Apple Helpline:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
If you're in the UK, use this number: 0871 508 4400
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.

I tried mackeeper to recover files but it could not. Any other way any one has tried to recover a system library folder after OS upgrade?

No, it doesn't store a clone. You would have needed to make one with either SuperDuper or CarbonCopy Cloner.
If the files were in your ~/Library folder then they may still be there. As I said, you can access it by
going to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key to choose "Library". I wouldn't think an upgrade would overwrite anything in ~/Library.
If you have a Time Machine backup you may also be able to use that to retrieve them.

  • I would like to update my mac from 10.5.8 to v10.6.8. can you help me

i would like to update my mac from 10.5.8 to v10.6.8. can you help me

Depends on what Mac you have. If it is a PPC (G4 or G5) Mac then Leopard 10.5.8 is as far as you can go.
If it is an Intel Mac:
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
(NB: PowerPC applications can still be run in Snow Leopard using Rosetta, but they will not work in later versions of OS X.)
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard to bring it up to 10.6.8, or download the combo update from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Check via Software Update whether any further updates are required, particularly to iTunes.
You should now see the App Store icon in iTunes, and you now need to set up your account:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4479
You can now upgrade to Mavericks OS 10.9 for free IF you have one of the following Macs, with not less than 2GB of RAM, and at least 8GB of available space on your hard drive:
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
    MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later), (15-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later), (17-inch, Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac Mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    iCloud system requirements:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4759
If you cannot run Mavericks you can purchase the code to use to download Lion from the App Store (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard):
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion
    or Mountain Lion:

  • Can't update daisy disk from Mac App Store

Can't update daisy disk from Mac App Store!! What can i do? AppStore wrote You must login in to @@@@mail, but I login to my account!

You must sign in to the App Store with the Apple ID you used to install the app. If you don't recognize the ID, see below.
You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store notice. For example, if the App Store says you need to update "Twitter," the hacked app may be "Angry Birds" or something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you have to carry out a systematic search.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
In the Finder, press the key combination command-F to open a search window, or select
    File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
    Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu initially showing Kind. From that menu, select  Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select Raw Query and click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of popup menu. Click in that box and paste (command-V).
The search window will show all the App Store products you've installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the items listed in the search window is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Test.

  • How can I update my mac os x 10.6.8 to get icloud?

HOW CAN I UPDATE MY MAC OS X 10.6.8 TO GET ICLOUD?

Open the Mac App Store and try purchasing Mountain Lion. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, and if the computer has a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and at least 2GB of RAM, phone the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion.

Hi, I just updated my mac from version10.6 to 10.9.3 os mavericks. i went to open iPhoto and it says "Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade." does this mean I have lost all photos i had in there? It does not give me a choice, it just says quit or upgrade? p.s. i didn't realise ther was  a way to back up my computer beforehand, which i am guessing this is time machine?

    1. No, you haven't.
    2. Back up the iPhoto library(this can be done through Time Machine or by dragging it to a drive, partition, or disk image formatted as Mac OS Extended) and then click Upgrade.
    3. Aside from Time Machine and drag-copying items from your home folder, programs such as the Disk Utility, Carbon Copy Cloner, and SuperDuper can make backups.

Can I update my Mac to support airplay mirroring?

P.S. Forgot to mention you might try a 3rd party application called AirParrot. I have never tried it but it was developed to let you mirror from Mac's that don't meet the hardware requirements.

  • Can I update a  Mac 10.5.8 to 10.6 or later

can I update a  Mac 10.5.8 to 10.6 or later????

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.
If it's a PowerPC Mac, no.
If it's a Core Duo Mac, click here, install the DVD, and run Software Update.
If it's a Core 2 Duo or better Mac, upgrade it as if it was a Core Duo Mac, and once done, if desired, open the Mac App Store and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, go to the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004. If you upgrade the OS, back up the computer first.

  • HT201260 I can't update my mac

I can't update my mac to 10.7. I have the one from 2008 or 2009. Its a MacBook and when I go to about mac, it sais "Mac OS X" "10.6.8" then when I check for software update, it sais there is none, so I can't update to 1.7, which I need for a lot of Apps.

you have to BUY 10.7 or the new 10.8 from the app store just launch the app store and search for moutain lion then buy it it will then download and then launch the app it will then guide you though the steps to install moutiain lion just check that you mac is compatible

  • When I try to update my mac from 10.5.8 to 10.9 it says no updates available

Whn I try to update my mac from 10.8.5 to 10.9 it says no updates are available at this time, yet I have not updated.

OS X 10.8.5 is the latest version of Mountain Lion - there are no further updates to that OS at this time.
But you can upgrade (assuming your Mac meets the specs) to the newly released later version of OS X - 10.9 Mavericks via the Mac App Store (available from the Apple menu).
(Can you confirm what OS you are currently running - the headline to your thread says 10.5.8, which is Leopard, your profile says 10.7.3, which is Lion and your message mentions 10.8.5, which is Mountain Lion ).

  • HT1338 I need to upate my Imac 10.5.8. If i buy the new mountain lion can I update my mac?

I need to update my 2009 Imac which has the operating system Mac Os x 10.5.8. If I buy the mountain Lion update can I update my mac? Also will I loose any of my programs or files? Or is there an update where I can use new Adobe programs?

    1. It isn't possible to buy Mountain Lion from Mac OS X 10.5.8 or to use it to directly upgrade a 10.5.8 system. Upgrading to Mac OS X 10.6, which is available in the online Apple Store, must be done first.
    2. Noting #1, no; back up the content anyway. If you choose to erase the partition before installing Mac OS X 10.8 on it, yes.
    3. It depends on what the requirements for them are.

how can u update my mac 10.5.8 version to new version??

You can upgrade to Snow Leopard v10.6 if your Mac meets Snow Leopard's requirements.
Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard - Technical Specifications

  • HT1752 can I update my Mac osx 10.5.8

Can I update my Mac os x 10.5.8 Leopard to a Mountain Lion

    Not directly, no.
Before you buy anything, you must first make sure your Mac is compatible.
For the minimum specs for Snow Leopard read the technical specifications …  Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard
For the minimum specs for Mountain Lionread the technical specifications. ... Apple - OS X Mountain Lion
All being well, buy your disc.
Once you have bought your copy you will need to update via software update or the Combo updater for Snow Leopard … Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1     Remember to repair permissions both before and after each upgrade/update.
Once Snow Leopard is installed and updated to 10.6.8 you can then progress to Mountain Lion.
You can no longer buy Snow Leopard from the Apple retail stores.   If you are in North America ... the last I read, you must call the on-line Apple store at (1-800-MY-APPLE).   It is $29 plus tax for family pack and $19 plus tax for a single.    Otherwise you can call your National Apple Helpline and ask for Sales.    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
