Welcome to Apple Discussions, jean-louis
First, disconnect any peripherals, restart your Mac, and test again to see if you might have conflicts with other devices you have added to your system. To simplify troubleshooting, leave all unnecessary peripherals unhooked until you get your iSight working again.
If the above does not resolve your problem, next try every suggestion re: Built-in iSight in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight" article.
Be sure to include the checks for whether the problem is "application-specific" and "user-specific".
If you need help creating a new user account to check whether your problem is "user-specific" during Troubleshooting, see this Help article.
If iSight works with any app in any use account, iSight is NOT your problem. If this is the case and you post back for other suggestions you can try before you seek professional help from your Apple Service Provider, list which apps work with your iSight and which do not. Also tell us if the problem is EXACTLY the same in EVERYH user account you tried.%ensp;Finally, tell us whether you have added any software to your system since your iSight worked correctly.

  • How can i use the webcam in the VMware fusion?

    I am using Windows XP with VMware fusion in my MacBook( OS X 10.5.1). Everything is good except the webcam. I have no idea how can I use the webcam(built in MacBook). Can someone give me more information about that? Thanks a lot!

    Not sure I quite understood your question? However, I am running Win XP in VMWare Fusion an all the peripherals such as Bluetooth, IR Receiver and the webcam are identified as USB device and are therefore supported. No problem to use it with Messenger, Skype or Trillian. The only thing you have to do is to click on one of the small USB symbols in the lower right corner of the VMWare status line in order to enable it for the use in VMWare. That's it.
    Hope this helps to fix your problem

  • Satellite A300-22F - Face Recognition can't use the webcam on Vista 64

    Hello everybody,
    I've got a big problem with the Face recognition tool and my operating system Windows Vista.
    Yesterday I installed Windows Vista 64bit on my new Sat. A300-22F Notebook because the preinstalled
    version of Windows was only 32bit and I've got 4gig of RAM.
    So, all drivers are installed and all works. The webcam driver with the webcam program works, too.
    But when I start the Face Recognition tool, an error appears that the webcam can't be initialised or that
    the webcam is in use and cannot be used at the moment with the program.
    So, no program uses the webcam. The webcam works with other tools. And in the settings of the face tool
    are the webcam still available, but without working.
    Anyone an idea?
    I've got the webcam drivers directly from Toshiba.
    Thanks.
    Greetings.

    Hi!
    Do you have start up programs that uses the camera like Skpye or MSN?
    Check this!
    Are you using the newest version of the Toshiba drivers and tools? Look on the Toshiba website for an update.
    Furthermore I would try to update the BIOS. You can find it on the Toshiba website:

  • I can't use the webcam with iChat

    Hi all,
    The problem is:
    I can speak using the video with a person who is in Barcelona but I can't speak with another who's in London. My other partner, whos's in Barcelona, can't speak with him (I'm in Spain too). So the problem it's not from our system, it's from him. What could be the problem?
    He's using a broadband Internet conexion and a router. Could be a problem with the ports?
    That person who's in London can't speak with other people who's from his country.

    Hi Oleguer,
    I need this sort of info
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=506836
    This list are some of the "normal" devices out there
    http://portforward.com/routers.htm
    I was wondering if you had a Thomson Alcatel Speedtouch modem/router combined device as theses are fairly popular on the Continent. They are also popular in Australia.
    The main problem when one person can not contact anybody is that they have not set up their Mac or their connection devices to alow iChat access to the internet.
    The second most common problem is that people use Port Forwrding or other NAT based port openings like DMZ or Port Triggering and there is conflict with the way their Buddies device is doing NAT.
    http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/page15.html#CertainBuddy
    For this reason we suggest using UPnP where possible.
    The latest issue is that some newer modem and wireless routers that do MIMO or are called Pre-N devices are not liked by iChat
    MIMO stands for Multi In - Multi Out. The device my have more than one ariel to produce better wireless cover
    Pre- N are wireless devices attempting to predict the next stage in Wireless protocols. Currently we have 802.11b and 802.11g
    He should start here http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=406147
    And here http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/page16.html to see if he has set things up and eliminate possible problems (particularly updating from Panther.

  • How can I use the MacBook Pro webcam with Windows XP apps under Parallel?

    Thank you in advance for your help with this matter.
    I have a MacBook Pro and I have just installed Parallel with Windows XP. I would like to use the webcam that comes with the laptop for applications that run under Windows XP (ex.: PalTalk).
    The application doesn't seen to recognize the camera. Do I have to load the drivers for this camera in XP? If so where can I find them and what is the process?
    Thank you again,
    Enrico

    You probably need to load the Boot Camp drivers that are on the Leopard DVD. Whether it works or not I can't say, but you may want to post your question on the Parallels forums, since it's not an Apple product, and if anyone has gotten it to work you'll find them over there.

  • Hi..can I use the iPad2 camera as a webcam in msn messenger please

    Can I use the iPad 2 camera in man messenger as a webcam please

    Which Msn Messenger app are you using? There are several in the app store. And does it support the iPad's camera? Info on the apps page should state that clearly if it does.

    Can I use The iPhone (5s) or iPad (air 2 or mini 3) like a webcam? If not, which one a compatible camera? please, a good one but no expensive...

    You can get apps for a Mac (and the iPs device) that allows you to use the iOS device as a webcam.

  • How can I use the built-in Isight camera with an external camera (usb/firewire) at the same time?

    How can I use the built-in Isight camera and an external video camera at the same time?
    I'm wanting to stream over Oovoo/Skype/etc. using 2 cameras.
    Thanks

    Simple question with a not so simple answer.
    (a) If you mean that you want to run multiple apps simultaneously using a different camera with each app, you may encounter computing power limitations.  Digital video is processor intensive.  The only way to know if your Mac can do this it to try it.  If the video does not work together but each app works when it it the only app running, you are likely overloading your Mac's ability to process and/or move all the required data in your data bus.  You can get a better indication of whether this is the case by watching your Activity Monitor utility while running the apps you want to use.
    (b) If you mean that you want to have more than one compatible camera connected to your Mac simultaneously for ease of changing between video sources, some, but not necessarily all, apps you are using to operate your camera(s) allow you to select between your cameras.
    How you select among connected cameras depends on which application you are using. Here is how camera selection works in a few examples:
    (1) For iChat, you can choose which iSight you use in the "Camera:" choices bar in iChat > Preferences... > Audio/Video that appears when more than one compatible camera is connected. Although your camera choices will be different, the choices bar will look something similar to the Preferences settings shown here:
    If you cannot see the "Camera" choices bar, your Mac is recognizing only one (or none) of your cameras. In that case, consider the suggestions fromhttp://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 for iSight problems or refer to your other camera's documentation for help.
    This particular choices bar solution applies ONLY to iChat. Most other applications also have settings that allow you to choose which camera to use. However, they do not all work the same way.
    (2) For instance, iMovie HD's camera choice is NOT set via Preferences. When you have more than one compatible camera connected, iMovie6 HD uses a drop-down menu choice something like this (depending on which version of iMovie you use):
    Note: Because I had no built-in iSight connected when I made this example, and because my external iSight was not connected, the drop-down menu showed only "Time Lapse." Because your Mac has a built-in iSight, your built-in iSight would show in the drop-down menu even when no other camera is connected. Connecting an additional Mac compatible webcam should allow you to choose either camera.
    Other iMovie versions work slightly differently.
    iMovie 9 (from iLife '11) uses a different camera choice button shown in this article:
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iMovie/9.0/en/mov39f84285.html
    iMovie 8 (from iLife '09) is slightly different as explained in this article:
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iMovie/8.0/en/10172.html
    In general, you can use your Mac's help for the application in use to find out how to select among more than one connected camera.
    (3) Photo Booth in Snow Leopard 10.6.x and later uses the Photo Booth > Camera menu command to select which camera to use.
    Note for readers with older Mac OS X: The previous version of Photo Booth that came with Tiger (10.4.x) is such a simple, basic app that it offers no menu selectable choice. Unless your built-in iSight is already occupied as the camera being used by some open application before you launch Photo Booth, Photo Booth will use ONLY your built-in iSight.
    However, you can use the trick from ¶ 4 of http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302781 to let Photo Booth use an external camera.
    (If you have an external Firewire camera connected, it may be used in preference to any USB webcam. If that is a problem for you, merely disconnect the problem Firewire device.)
    (4) For FaceTime, launch the app and click the Video menu item.
    If your Mac recognizes more than one connected compatible camera, a "Camera" section listing the cameras from which you can choose will appear there. Clicking on the desired camera name will let you select the one you want as shown in this image from my Mac Pro and LED Cinema Display:
    If your Mac recognizes only one compatible camera, the "Camera" section will not appear in the Video menu, but FaceTime will automatically use the connected camera that is recognized by OS X.
    (5) I do not use Skype oir Oovoo.  For those or other apps, see Help for each app for info on how to select your desired camera.

  • Using the webcam with MSN

    When I bought my Macbook I thought I would be able to use the built in webcam on MSN Messenger, but after three months I am still failing to find a way... Is it possible, or is the webcam only compatible with iChat?
    Thanks for you help!

    there are a few ways for ichat... such as a .mac account (you have to pay as well as the other person needs a mac with .mac account too), you can use AIM on ichat.. and the other person (PC user) just needs an AIM account as well... there is a chat program called skype.. which you both would need.. and another one that i know is using jabber in ichat.. there are many steps to set up jabber to function as msn and you get to use the webcam function

  • Does LCCS work on iOS, such as iPhone? Can I use the SDK examples to develop an app for mobile?

    I'm working on a project to create an air application which will have a chat area, webcam, and open videos in real time. This should also work on iOS.
    Can I use the same examples in the SDK to create this app by using flash builder 4.5? Is there any tutorials will help me in this topic?
    One more Question, by using LCCS, can I open a loaded videos/YouTube videos in a real time? Is there is any tutorial or example? In the adobe LiveCicle Collaboration web site, there is an example for The Video Livingroom. Is there a tutorial/code for this example?
    Your help is really appreciated.
    Thank you

  • Can't run the webcam with MAX and LV12

    Hi,
    I would like to configure and run a webcam via Measurement & Automation Explorer and Labview 2012.
    I am working in windows 7 Ultimate (64bits).
    Labview: 2012 (32bits) V 12.0f3
    MAX: V5.3.3f2
    Vision Acquisition Software: 2011
    I installed Labview 2012 without issue. Then i installed Vision Acquisition Sofware 2011 to have the library neccesary for the webcam. But, before the end of the installation. I got this error screen ( see bellow Windows_Firewall_Might_Be_Enabled.jpeg): WARNING: Windows Firewall Might Be Enabled. So, i tried to turn OFF, turn ON my Windows Firewall. I have still had the same error screen even if I tried to reinstall Vision.
    Any ideas about this issue?
    Then I ran Measurement & Automation Explorer, go to Devices and Interfaces and NI-IMAQdx Devices. I can see my webcam ( Logitech HD Webcam C270). Double click on it. And i have the first error screen :cwimaq Errors loading control. The default settings for the control will be used. Then this error message: cwimaq Error creating default control. And i have a Unexpected Error (see picture bellow). I tried couple times to restart the computer. But It is still the same issue. So, I really don't know why it is doing that. Any ideas?
    And when I run Labview and try to go in propreties of Vision Acquisition Express: Labview displayed : Unable to view properties.So I can't use my webcam with Labview for the moment. Furthermore, I downloaded ni_imaq_usb_installer_86 to get the  good library for the usb.
    Thanks for helping me,
    Best regards,
    Francois

  • Can I use the "same" button multiple times for multiple galleries?

    OK so I am extremely untrained in CS4 and Actionscript. However I have managed to get along fairly well until I started to dynamically upload images as a gallery. This works great if I have one gallery, but for my site I have 9 galleries!!! I have a back and next button, but I want to be able to use those same buttons for all of the galleries so they look the same. I have split them up and renamed them, but I am clueless on how to script the buttons to work. Please help...and don't laugh at my poor scripting. This is what I have now because I do not know where to put the other button names without getting errors.
    stop();
    next_btn .addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, nextImage);
    var imageNumber: Number=1;
    function checkNumber(): void{
        next_btn.visible=true;
        back_btn.visible=true;
        if(imageNumber==15){
            trace(imageNumber);
        next_btn.visible=false;
        if(imageNumber==1){
            trace(imageNumber);
        back_btn.visible=false;
    function nextImage(evtObj:MouseEvent):void {
        imageNumber++;
        mc_engagement.source= "photo/engagement/en0"+imageNumber+".jpg";

        mc_objects.source= "design/objects/pc"+imageNumber+".png";
        mc_typography.source= "design/typography/type"+imageNumber+".png";
        checkNumber();
    back_btn .addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, backImage);
    function backImage(evtObj:MouseEvent):void {
        imageNumber--;
        mc_engagement.source= "photo/engagement/en0"+imageNumber+".jpg";
        mc_amish.source= "photo/amish/Amish"+imageNumber+".jpg";
        mc_chicago.source= "photo/chicago/ch"+imageNumber+".jpg";
        mc_landscapes.source= "photo/landscapes/land"+imageNumber+".jpg";
        mc_goodvsevil.source= "photo/goodvsevil/ge"+imageNumber+".png";
        mc_animals.source= "design/animals/an"+imageNumber+".png";
        mc_icons.source= "design/icons/icon0"+imageNumber+".png";
        mc_objects.source= "design/objects/pc"+imageNumber+".png";
        mc_typography.source= "design/typography/type"+imageNumber+".png";
        checkNumber();

    I'm still a novice with Flash myself, but I have two comments.
    First, at this point, won't your buttons control all galleries at the same time? Which means, if I go to image 5 in one gallery, then move to another gallery, I'll start at image 5, because the actions are all connected.
    Second, you can definitely use the same buttons for multiple galleries. It seems to me that as long as you've assigned the buttons an instance name, these actions should already work to control all the galleries (see the note above). I guess I would need to understand a bit more about how your project is built.
