I can´t wake up my imac from Win 7

I have a problem with my imac 21'5 year 2010. I have mountain lion and win 7 and until today was good. Yesterday, In preferences I choose bootcamp (win 7 installed) for I work in old program and when I finished, I put  my imac in standby mode. Now I can´t wake up my imac because it seems that wireless keyboard don't connect and the screen is black. I know that imac is on but I can`t do nothing.
Can you help me?
thanks

Thanks Rugedar, but your solution was my first hipotetical solution. When turn off my imac, (push button 10 seconds), pull electrical connection (I expect 30 sec) and after push electrical connection and turn in my imac, as I hear when my imac turn on, but the screen remains black and the wireless keyboard and mouse don't work.
Can you think of anything?
Thanks

When i wake up my iMac from sleep my wifi is disconnected.  It also disconnects my iPad, my wives iPad, my iPhone & Sky On Demand which is connected via wifi. To reconnect all devices i have to switch off & then on again wifi on the iMac. Can anyone help?

Had the same issue and finally solved it.  After the upgrade to Mavericks our 2 new Macbook Airs stopped connecting automatically to Wifi while the older machines the kids had still worked fine.
Bought a new airport extreme and problem solved.   Our Airport Extreme was about 5 years old and was probably not compatible with the new OSX.
BTW this was after trying everything people suggested on this forum and a 4 hour marathon tech support call with Apple where we reinstalled the OSX.
***** to need to spend $200 but glad the problem got solved.
New extreme is also mega fast so its all good.

  • Can you get a customized iMac from one of the retail stores?

I wanted to know if it was possible to get a customized iMac from one of the Apple retail stores or Apple affiliated retail stores ( www.yescomputers.com for example )?
The reason I am asking is because the ONLY problem I have with Apple is their shipping. They seem to always use FedEx when shipping to me and FedEx, SOMEHOW, is extremely terrible at shipping products to my address. UPS is fine but FedEx just can not figure it out.
If it is not possible I think the base model 27-inch: 2.66GHz might be okay. I would just like to know either way.

As far as I'm aware, Apple do not sell customised/configure-to-order Macs in their Apple Retail Stores.
If you want to configure your Mac, you have to order it online from the Store.Apple.com website.

  • How can I print to Officejet 6700 from Win XP x64 computer?

Purchased the 6700 and conencted to network and prints from Win 7 laptops fine.
My desktop workstation in HP Z600 running Win XP X64, but cannot seem to get a driver to suit to print over the network.
I would prefer not to have to trash and replace the OS on the workstation!
Is there a work-around or some sort of interface that I could use?
My home network does have a little HP server, but it runs Win Server 2003, which is also incapable to connecting to the printer.
    This question was solved.

  • Can't wake up my iMac 27-inch...

    Hey Everyone,
I hope there's someone out there who may be able to help.
I've seen reports of similar problems on other threads.
I've recently got my iMac back from repairs (so glad I got extended cover) the display has been completely replaced, due to two major faults.
    1. if the Mac had been off all night, it would power up fine but the screen would just stay black and I'd have to a force shutdown, this black screen problem would also occur if the Mac had been asleep for a while - which would also require a force shutdown.
    2. the display had 'what looked like' dirty/dusty marks all along the top of the screen.
I was told that having the screen replaced 'should' hopefully solve the problem.
I brought it home last Friday and booted up with no fuss, however, when it came to be powered a couple of days later, the same problem has begun to happen.
I have replaced the 4x 2GB sticks of RAM with 4x 4GB, but having used Macs for many years, I know these problems are not really characteristic of RAM failure.
I've also got two mains powered USB devices attached, a WD 1TB HD and an LG External SuperDrive, the HD has never caused me any problems, but everything changed after I got the SuperDrive.
As the SuperDrive was plugged in when I got the iMac back, I decided to unplug it and see if it made any difference.
If anyone can shed some light on this problem I'd be really grateful, I'm booked in for another Genius Bar session a week today, but I'm not sure they're gonna be able to help me. plus I'm a little peeved that I'm going to have to buy another external HD to back up my machine.

Is your iMac plugged into the network via ethernet (not on WiFi)? "Wake for Network Access" does not work via wifi. I messed with all kinds of different ways of waking and accessing computers on my home network. I ended up going with Mark Muir's script which can be found here:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20090626025416657
    Further info...
I made an Automator application that runs his script to wake the computer I want. I then have Automator do the following to access the computer:
    Get the following text: afp://192.168.1.2
    Display Webpages
The IP address is that of the computer being accessed. Use "vnc" instead of "afp" for screen sharing. This works really well at home. I have an icon for each computer and have them in a Stack on the Dock.

  • Can I wake my Macbook Pro from Sleep with the Remote app on the iPhone?

I can't access my Macbook Pro remotely, specially after several hours of inactivity,, whenever I try to access content of my library through the remote app or the Apple TV I'm unable to wake my Macbook Pro up.
My Macbook Pro is 2012 model (the last with de CD Drive) and it's running the Maverick OS, my questions are:
    * I'm unable to find the "Unable Power Nap while plugged" option on the energy saver tab... is that because the model of my laptop doesn't support that?
    * In order to access content from my library remotely, should the "Computer Sleep" option on the energy saver be on "Never" instead of the "1 hour" that I'm currently using... or is there a way to still be able to wake up the laptop with those settings

Do you have a Bonjour Sleep Proxy server on your network?
<About Wake on Demand and Bonjour Sleep Proxy>
If you do not have a Bonjour Sleep Proxy server on your local network, then you cannot allow your Mac to go to sleep at all.  System Preferences -> Energy Saver -> Computer Sleep -> Never (slide all the way to the right).

  • Can't file share with iMac from Windows XP-Pro laptop

New to the game, but can't get Windows laptop to recognize iMac DVD. Need to download program to laptop which doesn't have DVD reader, just CD. AppleCare has the iMac end up and running. Any ideas? THanks.

I have exactly the same problem. I have a WD 500GB External HD connected to Airport Extreme. The MacBook works fine, but I can't get Windows XP (an HP PC) to log on through Airport Disk. I still can't get Airport Disk Agent working, but I find a way to connect to the HD. Here is what I did:
    1. Checked my Nortel Firewall to make sure that my internal IP addresses are not blocked (10.0.1.1 to 10.0.1.200)
    2. Created a simple disk password (I tried different options with or without accounts, but this works best for me)
    3. Instead of using Airport Disk, I just go to Windows Explore, and map a network drive to \\10.0.1.1\My Book (put in the IP address of your Airport Extreme, and the name of your hard disk), then I type in my disk password (with no user account, and it works!!
If you can't log-in, may be you can try user account and see if it works better. And if you are like me having no idea what my harddisk name is, just type in \\10.0.1.1\ first and you should see your harddisk name.
Note that if you create user account, each account will have their own folder.
Hope it make sense to you. However I do hope Apple offer more guidelines and instructions on how to fix this soon. (Now if Apple can fix the VPN problem on another thread, then I'll be happy)

  • How can I cancel an old Imac from apple 5 computers for Itunes?

    hello from Italy
I got a new MAC and I want to use it on my family account but on Itunes I already have 5 devices registred on an Itunes account, how can I cancel old devices?
    happy Christmas

De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.
For more information on authorization and de-authorization: iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.

  • Can i buy previous model imacs from the apple store?

if i wanted to buy the last imac model shipped with snow leopard (for software compatibility reasons), where can i do that? is it available in the online store? years ago, i remember seeing old model imac/products sold there. i don't mean the pre owned, refurbished ones but previous models that are still in stock. are those still available? thanks!

No, but take another look at "Refurbished". They may not be pre-owned at all. They might just be unsold leftovers, or refurbs that never left the factory. I bought my iMac as a refurb and there was no indication of any previous use anywhere on it.

  • Can't wake my MacBook up from sleep after Mountain Lion update

I have a MacBook Pro spring 2011 model. I did purchase the Mountain Lion update in September and this is when my problem started. I do have the put hard drives to sleep when possible turned off. The only change I have made to the Mac is the ram, I upgraded to 8GB but haven't had any issues with it. Any suggestions on what to do? The hard restart or having to shut my Mac down everytime is a pain.

  • Can't wake up my iMac in the morning and fans going full blast

Several times in the morning, after leaving my iMac on all night, I've found the machine asleep and the fans going full blast !?!
This in a cool 68 degrees room.
I then had to turn the iMac off manually and restart. I had a failed power supply replaced in April and am covered under the Apple care program (thank goodness !!!).
Could this be the logic board overheating now ?
Thanks for your help- Jim Vaughn

Hello Jm - it could well be another thermal problem, take a look at your Console logs and see if anything jumps out at you.
Since you do have Apple care (wise man) I suggest you call them and have them deal with the problem.

  • Can I install Boot Camp 5 from Win 8?

I have a late 2011 Mac Pro tower running Windows 8 and Boot Camp 4. I have had Windows 8 ever since it came out, that means that I upgraded to Windows 8 with the last version of Boot Camp 4 (with no issues BTW). Now there is Boot Camp 5,  and I want to upgrade my Mac Pro to Boot Camp 5, but the installer of version 5 tells me that I need Windows 7 to install Boot Camp 5. I already have installed Windows 8.
How can I upgrade to Boot Camp 5 from Windows 8 in my Mac Pro without going back to Win 7 or by formatting my drive?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!!!

    Thank youn for the reply...
This is what I get when I try to install from the USB drive...

  • Can't connect to WRV200 config from Win 2k3 server

We have 2 servers running Win 2k3 Server, both of which I can not connect to the configuration on our WRV200 router. Here is our current setup.
DSL > WRV200 > 8 Port Linksys Gigabit switch > Servers and Other Gigabit switch to all workstations.
When I hook my laptop up to the 8 Port switch I can connect to the router's config without any issue. I can also connect without any issue via any of the workstations. I can not, however, connect with the browsers on the servers. They are both IE6 with all updates run.
I tried clearing out the ARP tables which didn't do anything.
When I try to connect to it I get to the login screen, put in the admin password, and then it gets stuck on loading SetupStatic.asp. After resetting to factory settings it is SetupDHCP.asp.

Do you have correct Gateway IP on Server(s)? Can you load other websites?
If not, review your NIC settings on your Server. The problem is not your Router.

  • Can Satellite S55-A5294 be downgraded from Win 8 to Win 7?

Are there Win 7 drivers available if I want to downgrade this laptop to Win 7? Not having much luck finding any. Thanks.

Can you give the model part number PSKXXXX
You can try these Windows 7 64 bit drivers -  http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU&selCategory=2&selFamily=2&selS...
When you go to that page you can narrow your search down by going to the -Short Model No  and put yours in there.
Install the chipset drivers then the video drivers before the rest of the drivers and install the Toshiba Value added package before the other Toshiba applications.
    Good luck post your results!

  • Wake a sleeping iMac

How can I wake a sleeping iMac from my powerbook remotely? Can this be done over the internet or over my wireless home network only and how? I cannot find a program and my understanding is the macs need to be wired rather than WiFi or Internet related. Im using an airport extreme at home.
    Any help appreciated.

How can I wake a sleeping iMac from my powerbook remotely?
Try using an application such as this one.
Can this be done over the internet or over my wireless home network only and how?
It can theoretically be done over the Internet, but many routers will filter out the packet. Your Mac needs to be connected to the network through a wired connection; the rest of the network can be wireless.
