I know how to turn on my ipod mini when it won't turn on normally (reset). My problem is that every time I leave my ipod mini off for even a day, I have to reset it to turn it on. I can use it, but its annoying to have to do this, and I imagine that continuous resetting isn't good for it.
Also, I somehow got to a diagnostics screen on it that since hasn't come back. Does this mean anything?

You have to reset it yourself, or the iPod does it on it's own? If the iPod resets itself after a long period of inactivity, then it's normal. See this.

Resetting the iPod doesn't harm it, think of it like rebooting your computer.
You may have entered the diagnostics screen accidentally whilst making random button presses. It's nothing to be concerned about.

FIOS remote can turn TV off but not on? (Westinghouse LCD TV)

Westinghouse model CW26S3CW 26" LCD HDTV. Weirdest thing happening and that is I am able to get the FIOS remote to do everything but turn the TV on. I have contacted Westinghouse and they are saying to use the Sanyo or Samsung codes but they don't work. I have different types of FIOS remotes and have tried them all to no avail. I'm just dumbfounded how a FIOS remote can turn the TV off but not on.... Westinghouse must have some real whacked out technology that on and off are done differently. I'm having this problem, started about a week ago. I tried a factory reset and it did not help. I have model 46G300U1. Unplugging the TV is the only way that I know it will stay off.
TV will randomly turn itself back on. It does not always happen after a few seconds. For example, last night I turned off the TV and sat in the same room for a few minutes and it did not turn back on. However, when I checked this morning, it was back on.

Accidental damage is not covered under Apple warranty. And it seems there is much accidental damage. Only a Genius Bar tech looking at it can tell how much it will cost to repair.
Cost to repair will be high, I suspect (though Genius Bar will confirm/deny.
There is no gentle way to say this sir/ma'am ... someone will need to pay for your friend's MBA repairs.

Yes. Plug it into your computer and restore it. Once it's in recovery mode, that's your only option.

I was researching the issue you are having and recommend a couple of things. First it might be a good idea to reset the device following iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't quite get the device going again, I recommend restoring the device.

Might even be a good idea to turn off the phone, reseat the SIM card, and turn it back on.

Hold down on the home button simultaenously holding on the sleep wake button (power button) hold it for more than 15 seconds this will then shut down the device.
If the device is already shut off do this same sequence to see if you get an apple logo. If you get the logo allow the device to login. Write back if this does not resolve your issue.

I had the same error. And i had a Computer that had worked, with a SSD drive and 16GB upgrade done by the owner himself.
I tried swapping with a Mechinal Harddrive, no luck.
Kept the Mechanical drive in, and tried with some other Ram, it worked..
So for me this error and after reading the other responses can be boiled down to a Harddrive problem or Ram issue.
It was Ram for me..

Have you tried to reset it? Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds and see if you can get it to reboot.

Try force iPad into Recovery Mode. Follow step 1 to 6 very closely.

System Prefs show Airport "OFF" but in menu bar I can turn on... pls look

System Profiler sees the Airport card however shows no network. (This has been running with no problems for months)
System Prefs, Network shows the Airport card as "OFF" even tho I can turn it "on" up on the menu bar. (it takes two times to turn it on via the network bar)
It still cannot see the network. (I am 802.11n everywhere and I'm using my MBP on the network I've been using for months)
The bottom line is I can't get my MacPro 3.0Ghz to see the network and the system profes show it's on even tho I can turn it on and off via the network bar.
Note: I've also plugged in a airport express via the Mac Pro's enet port and it simply cannot see it.
Any advise please.

I have a snow base station and have no problems connecting to it with a clamshell iBook running OS X. But with my PowerBook G4, whenever I turn Airport on and try to access the base station, the airport status icon constantly flashes, almost like a pulse.
Today I took my PowerBook to a hot spot, and Airport worked great, so I know that my card is fine.
One thing I'm wondering about -- what firmware are you using on your base station? I currently have 4.0.4, so it's possible that upgrading to 4.0.9 will solve this problem. I'm reluctant for the moment to try the firmware upgrade because the clamshell iBook connects to the snow base station so smoothly. I don't want to mess up one set-up while trying to fix another.
I'll check back in case you have new information, including (I hope) a fix for this.

I know you can't "turn off" tv but its getting hot in standby, I havent used it all day, and the top is still really warm. I know this is the heat sink, but why is it getting so hot when in standby and doing nothing, for many hours?
To turn off I realise will have to switch off at mains. Is this recommended? when should I do it? when not syncing and in standby?
I'm a little worried by how hot it is, when never used for about 48 hours and in standby

All depends on how much your electricity costs, at 10 p/c per kilowatt/hour, your tv using around 18 W in stand-by will cost you about 30 1/4 p/c a week.
If cost is a factor for you then consider switching it off overnight, don't however worry too much about the heat. It may appear to run hot because of its unusual heat dissipation, however if you were to place your hand on the heat sync surrounding your cpu on your mac/pc, you'd likely realise comparatively the tv isn't excessively warm. (The CPU's in my mac are currently running at 44-56 C for example)
I don't particularly see much wrong in turning the unit off from time to time, (although I'm not sure I like the idea of not knowing if the HDD is writing at the time) assuming it isn't excessive. Excessive switching is not good for most devices since strain on mechanical parts and stress caused to electrical components due to large temperature variations can lead to early failure.

Default video sound is mute. But when i also can turn on from the volume bar.

I use FLVPlayback from CS 4 to input videos.

Yes, I can change the volume from 100 to 0 at flvplayback component. If I do this, I can not turn on the sound anymore. The swf file will stay mute all the time.
I need an answer using AS3 to control player. It is more flexible.
video player default is mute. I can turn on the sound later from volume bar.
