I cannot access my facetime and imessage as my iphone 5s is not automatically recognising my phone number

Hello,
i registered my facetime and imessage with my phone number not my apple id. i changed from iphone 4s to iphone 5s, i cant login now as my iphone isnt recognising my number

Hi faithmeg,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are describing, and/or what you are seeing when you try to login on your new iPhone 5s. Usually, when FaceTime/iMessage is used with a phone number, that phone number and the Apple ID are linked, as outlined in the following article:
iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage - Apple Support
If you are having issues signing in or activating FaceTime/iMessage on your new iPhone, you may also find the troubleshooting outlined in this article helpful:

  • No Facetime and iMessage on my Iphone 4s

    Hello
This is my first apple product and I am trying to locate Facetime and iMessage on the screen. They are not available as icons like its shown on the website. I do see their settings under Settings -> Facetime and Settings ->Message and both Facetime and iMessage are Activated.
Would appreciate if someone could walk me through the steps to begin using them
    Much Appreciated
    Thanks

Tap on the "Messages" app and the tap the "New Message" icon on the top right. Then tap the "+" button to select your contact's email address. It automatically detects if your contact has iMessage enabled. Type you message and tap the send button.
You might want to turn off "Send as SMS" in "Settings >> Messages" to prevent sending the message as SMS
For "Facetime" just tap the facetime button in your contact and it should list out all the available phone numbers and emails for that contact to be contacted via facetime. Just pick a phone number or email address and it will try to contact the person via facetime.

    Hello,
You wont be able to install the latest version of iTunes on this iBook.
The latest version of iTunes requires Mac OS X 10.6.8 or higher.
The iBook will not install Mac OS X 10.6 or higher due to not having an Intel processor.
With this, you wont be able to sync and iPhone 4,4s or 5 running iOS 6 or higher

  • How do i use FaceTime and iMessage on Ipad and iPhone

I want to use FaceTime and iMessage on my iPhone and Ipad with the same Apple account but also with eachother.
    Is this possible?

    Yes it is possible.
After you activate the apps on all of your devices with your Apple ID - you then have to add another email address at which you can be reached on all but one of the devices - and then remove your Apple ID email address as the contact address on those devices. You can keep the ID on one device as the address at which you can be reached.
It is really very simple to do, but this user posted this some type ago and it explains how to do it. You can also Google it and find other sites that explain it. But here you go ....

facetime and imessage of iphone waiting for activation

okay, i have been having problems with both facetime and imessage on my iphone and decided to look onto it today and after some searching around i managed to fix it!! this is what i did:
Went into settings, clicked on messages, scrolled down to " send & receive' and made sure the number shown was mine. Clicked on "send & receive" then clicked on " use your apple ID for message", this is to make sure my apple ID is correct and if it isn't this where you will change it. Backed out and went into "general", scrolled all the way to the bottom and clicked on "reset" then clicked on "reset network settings". I also went to:
https://appleid.apple.com. Clicked on the "Manage my ID" button. Make sure your email address and phone numbers are correct. Then click the "Save Changes" button. I didn't change anything but as soon as I clicked the "Save Changes" button, my iMessages instantly activated.
Doing these two things worked for me and hope it works for you all out there as i initially thought it was a network problem and it does not seem to be one but it does seem to be an apple thing...

I Have Macbook Air (13-inch, late 2010) and its updated to OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)
processor 1.86 GHz intel core 2 duo
    memory 2GB 1067 MHz DDR3
FaceTime and iMessage are not working I cannot receive or send.
my connection is excellent, I turned both of them off and on again on both my iPhone and macbook, all my contacts are synced and everything is fine except that I'm not able to make calls or send and receive messages on my mac.
    what should I do ?
    regards,

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test iMessage while in safe mode. FaceTime won't work. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

i can't sign in my FaceTime and iMessage....

The next step is to clear the cahces, they may be somthing messing with them, do this and get back to me, If this dosen't work I have one more step we can try.
    [Computer\Macintosh HD\Library\Cahces]
    [Computer\Macintosh HD\Users\(Your User)\Libary\Caches]
Delete everything in both folders, some might ask for a password, thats fine. Empty the trash, some actions coulnd't be completed becuase xxxx.xx is in use, just keep clicking continue, and the restart your computer.

  • Unable to use my apple id for facetime and imessage.

I recently changed my apple id so that I was not sharing the same id with my son.  Now I cannot use my apple id for facetime or imessage.  I can use my son's id, but not mine. (So no network errors, just an id problem.)
I am using the latest software - iOS version 8.02
My time and date are correct.
The error message I see is that my user name or password is incorrect, but I am 100% sure that I have entered it correct.  Same id/pw works for icloud, itunes, etc.
Same problems exists for iPad 3 as for iPhone 5.
Is there some way I can reset my facetime/imessage settings and clear out any old data that might be stored somewhere (hopefully not wiping out the whole phone/ipad?)
    Thanks!
    Kelly

  • FaceTime and iMessages slow to load

I recently(last week) updated to Yosemite 10.10.3 and have nothing but issues with iMessage and FaceTime loading. all of my Macs worked perfectly before. FaceTime came up instantly when receiving a call on my iPhone. Now it takes 90 -240 seconds to load and by then the call goes to VM. When I launch iMessages same load times?
Is this a common issue with Yosemite 10.10.3? I hope they have an update soon. I will also say I am noticing other smaller issues with load times, disk repair and repair preferences) takes like 15 minutes, like it gets hung up. Just lots of little issues with seamless operation between all devices and especially my MacBook Air and iMac. all of which were updated to the new IOS and New Yosemite.
Again, all of of my Mac and device were in tip top shape and running PERFECTLY before the install of OS X 10.10.3

    Back up all data.
Quit FaceTime and Messages if they're running. Force quit if necessary. After each of the following steps, restart the computer, then test. If the problem isn't resolved, quit again and go on to the next step.
    Step 1
Make sure you know the ID and password you use with FaceTime and iMessage.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain.
From the Category list in the lower left corner of the window, select
               My Certificates
Look carefully at the list of certificates in the right side of the window. If any of them is marked with a red "X" as expired or invalid, delete it.
    Now select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences... ▹ Certificates
There are three menus in the window. Change the selection in the top two to Best attempt, and in the bottom one to  CRL.
    Next, select
                Passwords
in the Category list. Enter "ids" (without the quotes) in the search box in the toolbar of the window. Delete all items of type "application password" that have a name beginning in any of the following ways:
                ids:
                IDS:
                com.apple.ids:
Also find and delete all items with "facetime" or "com.apple.idms" in the name.
    Step 2
Hold down the option key and select
              Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Move the following items from the Library folder to the Trash (some may not exist):
              Application Support/CallHistoryDB
              Caches/com.apple.imfoundation.IMRemoteURLConnectionAgent
              Caches/com.apple.Messages
              Containers/com.apple.AddressBook.FaceTimeService
              Containers/com.apple.corerecents.recentsd
              Containers/com.apple.FaceTime
              Containers/com.apple.soagent
              IdentityServices
    Leave the Library folder open.
    Step 3
In the Preferences subfolder, there may be several files having names that begin with one of the following strings:
              com.apple.facetime
              com.apple.FaceTime
              com.apple.ids
              com.apple.im
Move them all to the Trash.
Also in the Preferences folder, there is a subfolder named "ByHost". Open it and do the same thing.
