Safari version?
Google Chrome version?
Is this a sudden behavior? If so, when did it start? Last worked on date? Failed on date?
I must tell you that this website is a monster... in my Safari v4.1.3 in Developer Mode tracking it took 5.8 minutes to finish FAILING to load ±245 items, until it finally cancelled -  ±25 Alerts - at which time, the site's reload script started the doomed process all over again.
Google Chrome = do not use so I will assume that it has similar difficulties
I did have success loading the page (seemingly fully) with Firefox (TenFourFox 31.1.1) BUT it took ±3 minutes to complete loading! During the 3 minutes, the page display 're-painted' twice (blank > redraw - not the same as a reload). The reload script reloaded the page at ±5 minutes.
Watching the progress of loading, there are VERY many assets on that page that require other sites to deliver the content, some quick some sluggish.
With a browser that can handle &/or ignore all the funky code being presented, one could not "Read the paper" for more than a couple of minutes - tops - before the reload "Snatched the paper out of your hand".
** As a comparison, I went to http://www.nytimes.com/ - readable in ±5 seconds, scrollable in ±10 and finished loading in ±20.
Conclusion: Safari & Chrome are likely not the problem - any version will likely fail. A tougher browser is only usable for 2 minutes.
Have you considered contacting theaustralian.com.au and asked them what they deem to be "minimum system requirements" ?
The website is the culprit here. Time to hit the newsstand or change papers.
best luck

After upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion I cannot access a PGP drive which was generated under snow leopard. PGP does not start. When I try to start I just receive a message that Lion cannot work with PGP. How can I now access important and confifential informatio which I have stored in PGP (snow leopard). Do I have to move back to snow leopard. If so, how can I do this?

    If you have this product,
    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH165159
you have to go back to Snow Leopard.
To re-install SL, back up your home directory, format and re-install.

The red, green and yellow buttons in the upper left corner of the screen disappear whenever I open Safari.  I cannot minimize the Safari window which I often need to do if I am coordinating multiple windows between different applications.  Does anyone know how to get those buttons back?  I guess I could just switch betwen appliations, but I am used to doing it the other way.

    You're welcome
You had Safari in full screen mode.

  • I installed 10.8.2 and now I cannot access, mail, safari, app store  etc.    HELP !

I installed the update for Mountain Lion.  And now I cannot use most of my stuff.  Including Mail, APP Store ( where I would go to get any downloads and updates) Safari etc.....
    Please help!

Well, then you have a unique but fairly big problem... something went wrong during the update.
Suggestion: Download the combo update and do it again: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1581
If that doesn't help, you might need to re-install the system. Keep backing up!

Please explain your issue.  Maybe your fellow itunes users can help you.

  • Cannot access to any site with ssl connection and fail to open safari and keychain, unless restart computer and login in with Guest account.

when Update to 10.7.2 ,I cannot access to any site with ssl connection and fail to open safari and keychain, unless restart computer and login in with Guest account.
    OS:10.7.2
    Macbook Pro 2010-mid 13inch

I also have the same problem, however if I use Firefox or Opera sites with ssl connection work fine. Still, I can't use Google Chrome (ssl), Safari (ssl), the Mac app store (generally), or the iTunes store (generally). Both the iTunes store, Safari and the app store won't respond, and Chrome displays this error: (net::ERR_TIMED_OUT). The problem persists regardless of what network I'm using. Also, when trying to access the keychain or iCloud, the process will not start (will hang). I didn't have these problems at all before updating to 10.7.2.
Sometimes rebooting helps, and sometimes not. If the problem disappears by rebooting, then it only lasts a few minutes before it reappears. It is very frustrating, especially since there doesn't seem to be any obvious or consistent way of which to fix it.
    I'm also using a Macbook Pro 13-inch mid 2010.

  • I have lost my Safari app and all the bookmarks that go with it. I have tried to download my back-up on external drive but cannot access it. Tried a start with C key held down but still no access to the back-up app.

I have lost my Safari app and all the bookmarks that go with it. I have tried to download my back-up on external drive but cannot access it. Tried a start with C key held down but still no access to the back up app.
Have used Superduper app. to back up and checked back-up occasionally to see if all files present  and appeared OK.
I had previously started machine using original CD #1 to try and replace Eudora which was acting up. Did not knowingly touch Safari.
    Running iMAC System 10.4.11
How can I successfully download from the Maxtor back-up?
    Ivan

    Further info.
I checked the content of my other back-up and found the bookmark Bookmarks.plist in the library under Safari
Dumped the existing copy in the computer and drag-dropped the back up. All bookmarks restored.
Solved the Stickies problem by using Spotlight  to find file "stickiesdatabase" and did a drag- drop to replace file. All data restored.
Re Ical data loss. Used Spotlight to find iCal document in  Library - Preferences where I found com.apple.iCal.plist in folder.
Got ready to make change but did not immediately remove file. When I returned to Preferences folder to grab above document,
the readable descriptors had been changed to code consisting of some upper case letters and/or single symbols!
So now I cannot tell which is the symbol  iCal.plist
Thanks for leading me so far, but how do I find that plist for my calendar?

  • Cannot access sites saved to Reading List in Safari with OS 10.8.5

I just upgraded to 10.8.5, Mountain Lion, and encountered a number of problems with overall performance. One of these problems is that I cannot access sites that I have added to Safari's reading list. When I click on the link in the list I just get another "Top Sites" window opening up.
I'll add a second issue experienced after upgrading to OS 10.8.5. There have been random times when after awakening my MacBook Pro after extended sleep I have received a message that "drive(s) was/were improperly ejected". Since then I have had two external drives from different manufacturers quit on me - on start-up I get the message that "The disk you inserted is not readable by this computer…" even though they were readable recently. One of the manufacturers indicated that they have heard this is a Mac OS problem which is randomly not allowing the computer to wait for a drive to "dismount" properly before going into sleep mode. Anyone else with these problems? Solutions?

    Hi Russ_R,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see by your post that you would like to configure the printer on the wireless network.
I will do my best to assist you with this issue.
Download and install the 10.7 software for the printer so we will have the HTML software to run the wireless setup for the printer.
HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver.
Make sure Safari is set as the default browser. (sometimes the EWS won't open if it isn't set as the default)
Open Safari, across the top select the Safari menu, select Preferences, General, set as default.
    Close out all applications.
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, computer, Mac Harddrive, library, printers, HP,Laserjet, P1100_P1560_P1600Series, open html config.
Go to the network tab, select wireless on the left side, select infrastructure, select network name, select the double
arrow button to move the network name over to the left side, fill in passwords, apply.
You should get a solid blue wireless light in about 1 minute.
(Note: if the html config doesn't load you will have to update the printers firmware with USB connection)
Then go to the Apple, system preferences, print & scan, highlight the P1102w and click the minus at bottom left
corner to delete it, then disconnect USB cable, click the plus sign in bottom left corner and highlight the P1102w bonjour printer, beside Use: make sure it shows the proper printer name and not Airprint, (Airprint is a preinstalled apple driver with basic functionality) click on the add button. You might have to click on the drop down to select your printer.
    Try and print.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.
    Have a great day.

  • Macbook a1181 cannot access System Preference or any apps such as Safari, iPhoto, etc.  How can I fix this?

Hi, I recently purchased a used MacBook a1181 and cannot access anything.  I am new to Apple computers/laptops so I don't know if there is a simple solution or if it's maybe a HD problem?  I tried to go into System Preferences and nothing happens.  The dock (?) at the bottom also has a bunch of question marks. When I scroll over the question marks, I can see apps like Safari, iPhoto, etc. but I cannot open anything.  I also tried to go to About this Mac and can't get anywhere either.   Any ideas what could be wrong?

" The dock (?) at the bottom also has a bunch of question marks"
So usually that means that the applications are missing. It's like in a PC where the "Short Cut" link is broken.
"When I scroll over the question marks, I can see apps like Safari, iPhoto, etc. but I cannot open anything."
So just like when shortcuts are broken and for the same reason: applications are moved, renamed etc.
    and with this:
"I also tried to go to About this Mac and can't get anywhere either. "
    Probably a bad install.
"When I tried to re-install the OS, the disc would spin and then eject.  I tried several different installation CDs and even an external DVD player and each time the CD ejected out without installing. "
What disks are you using? The originals would be Tiger and gray, 10.4.8 (Not the retail installer which would be 10.4.0.), Leopard, Snow Leopard. So 10.4.8 to 10.6.8 compatible.

  • IPad informs me that "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding" I cannot access emails or interneton Ipad.

Ipad message "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding". I cannot access emails or internet.

Thankyou for suggestion. My PC was working ok ( accessing emails/internet) which puzzled me. It's usually the PC that drives me nuts and the iPad that is great.I discovered my TV was having difficulty with a connection to broadband. I turned off the main Wifi router and switched it on again and all seems to be well. My IPad was suggesting, however, that all was well with the Wifi connection. It had a tick against it in Settings. Very strange!

  • Cannot access itunes, asks for Safari upgrade

As of today I cannot access the itunes store! It says I need version 4 or later for safari.
My Macbook was upgraded to Leopard with a work licence years ago. When I checked the software version of this mac it says 10.5.
    Safari is 3.0.4.
I downloaded the leopard update for Safari, but cannot use it. It says this
"You cannot install Safari on this volume. This update requires Mac OS X 10.5.8 or newer."
    This is leopard isnt it?
I always have problems installing updates, don't know why, but never bothered me as didnt stop me from doing anything until now.
Any ideas how to fix this?

    Aromagician wrote:
How do i check what version 0f 10.5 I am on.
click on the  menu at the left side of your menu bar and choose +about this Mac+
When I click on the software it just says 10.5. Perhaps this version needs to be updated to a lesser version first?
no, the combo updater will update any version of 10.5.x to 10.5.8.
when was the last time you repaired permissions ? did you do any maintenance at all ?
i suggest you run disk utility (in your applications > utilities folder) and click on +repair permissions+. does it report anything out of the ordinary ?
if disk utility reports that it +finished successfully+ or so, restart your Mac and re-download the combo updater. double-click on the .dmg file to mount the disk image and run the installer. your Mac will re-boot after the install is done. run another +repair permissions+ using disk utility.
also, you might want to download and install OnyX, which is +a multifunction utility for Mac OS X. it allows you to verify the Startup Disk and the structure of its System files, to run miscellaneous tasks of system maintenance.+ let OnyX run the maintenance scripts once a month.
you can get the Leopard version of OnyX here.
    good luck !

  • I cannot access the internet, I tried to answer that said to go to settings, safari, tap clear history, cookies and cache, cut off, then on, but it did not work.  When I go to internet the screen is grey??? please help I am a new user!!

I cannot access the internet the screen is grey, I have tried by using the answer from someone but it does not work...I went to settings, tap safari, then clear the history, cookies, and cache, then turn off ipad.  When I did that twice, it did not work.  How long does it take for the clear history to work?  I am a brand new
user of the ipad2 and I am disappointed that this is happening already.

Have you been able to access the internet previously and now it's suddenly not working, or are you still trying to access the internet for the first time on your iPad?  Are you at home trying to connect through your home router?  If you are at home, did you put your home routers encryption code as your password?  The encryption code is what your iPad is looking for and it is usually found on the router and is typically a 13 digit combination of letters and numbers.  Let us know......

Mov is a container format, you'd need to look at the codec used by the movie file inside the container to know whether it will work with the Apple TV or not.
