I cannot access store - message is network timed out

I have reinstalled itunes but I get the same error. This is happening on my ipad, iphone 5 and my windows 7.

Temporarily disable or turn off all security software, such as firewall, anti-virus, anti-spam etc.. And try the download again.

  • I cannot get the updates for ipad to download. when it gets ready to process the file an error message pops up saying the software was unable to download and the network timed out. any suggestions...

i am trying to update the software on my ipad from 4.2 to 4.3.3 but i cannot get it to download. I get an error message that says the software was unable to download because the network timed out.  I have tried to download it 7 or 8 different times and still get the same message.  I cannot restore the factory settings either.  The same thing happens.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  It did this when trying to update to 4.2.  I don't remember how we were able to get the software to update.  Thanks.

Thank you King_Penguin!  It worked beautifully.  I had turned the firewalls off but not the antivirus.  You are great!  I am new to this apple community thing so it looks like I cannot mark your reply as "correct answers", but it was.  Thanks a ton!

  • Keep getting "network timed out" message when trying to download tv shows -

    Howdy all!
For two days I've been trying to fix a problem: when I go to the Itunes store and buy tv shows (CSI, Battlestar Gallatica) I can buy them, start the download, but after a minute all of the downloads stall and I get the error message "network timed out" "error 3259"). However, I can download podcasts at lightning speed, and my connection is very high. the error message said there was a problem with the itunes store.
I deleted itunes several times, reinstalled, went through and deleted all the old files, reinstalled, and tried several times. Each time I get the same message
The itunes store says: "Hey, you bought this, but unsuccessfully downloaded it before. want to try again?"
    and each time it fails.

I tried to see if the problem was with the itunes store - I bought a song and it downloaded in seconds. I then went to the tv shows section and tried to download a "free" tv show - and got the same message. So in this case, the error only seems to be with downloading tv shows.
I'm at my wit's end - don't know what to do.

Disable your firewall/security software and try again.

  • Upgrade to iOS 4.3.3 getting a message "network timed out".

I am running iOS 4.3.1 and trying to upgrade to iOS 4.3.3 and keep getting a message that says "network timed out". I had this same issue with upgrading to 4.3.1 but after disabling Firewall and anti-virsus software and moving to ethernet wired connection (not wireless) it worked. Not so with 4.3.3. I have tried at least 15 times at different times of the day/night.   APPLE is there a fix?

Hi there, welcome to the site!
This is usually a cause of a slower internet connection, that is why ethernet probably helped, it is faster than Wi-Fi. I would firstly turn your router off for 5 mins, then back on again, and try initializing the update. If not, maybe try changing the channel the router is broadcasting on. This can usually be done after entering 192.168.0.1 into your browser bar. Refer to your router documentation for more help.
You can try reading through a similar thread which I have linked to below for more help.

    Hope this helps,

  • Ios7 now installed on my iphone 4S, emails show up but I cannot access them, message says cannot get mail - server failed.  Why is this happening?

My message titles appear but I cannot access them since they are greyed out.  Message in front says server failed.  Messages accessable on regular computer, why the problem?  Yesterday I installed ios7 on my iphone 4s..

I have this question too!  I updated my Iphone iOS software last night and this morning, I cannot access my mail as it says that I cannot connect to the server.  On both my Iphone and Macbook, when I open mail- it says that the server rejected my password for ICloud.  I can also log in to ICloud online, so I know that it isn't my password- HOWEVER, when I try to access mail through the cloud online, it tells me that it is unable to obtain my mail.  Is there an iCloud server problem currently?  Is it a software problem?   Please help with any suggestions!  Thanks in advance.

  • "Cannot access conflicts" message

I have been getting the message "Cannot access conflicts" when trying to sync my Notes between Outlook and my iPhone 4 for the past few weeks. Previously I had no issues at all. This is a new iPhone after my previous one broke, so it was restored and otherwise works perfectly. There WAS an issue with the Notes being sync'ed to my IMAP account but I turned that off so there should be no over-the-air sync'ing since my IMAP provider doesn't support it.
The exact message is: "Unable to retrieve conflict information from the sync server. Please try again next time the conflict resolver window is presented".
There are 2 conflicts, when I choose the "correct" one and press Next this error comes up. When I look at the first of the notes that is in conflict, there actually ISN'T a conflict - the notes are the same on the iPhone and in Outlook, however the old note (the one on the left out of the two choices) is definitely "old" in the sense that the note has been updated, probably since I got the new iPhone. Somehow it's remembering my old notes and having a conflict.
The forums suggested going Edit/Preferences then "Reset Sync History" on the "Devices" tab, but I get a frightening message "Are you sure you want to reset this computer's sync history?" with a bunch of other stuff on it about merging information. It sounds like a potentially bad idea.
    Anyone have any ideas please?
    Thanks.

UPDATE: this doesn't happen every time. I changed a note in Outlook and then plugged my iPhone in. iTunes went through the 5 step backup/sync process and came up with the usual "Cannot access conflicts" message. At this point, the note had NOT been updated on the iPhone.
I then removed and re-plugged my iPhone, and let it sync again. This time, no message came up and the note HAD gotten updated on the iPhone.
    This seems rather strange behaviour.

  • "Network timed out."

So I have not been able to access the iTunes store for a couple of months now. Whenever I try to access it, the loading bar at the top of the screen just stop and mid-way and a box pops up like 20 minutes later sayin that the network timed out. Occasionally when I try a very, very basic iTunes pops up. It has all of the words taht would be in the regular home screen in blue letters, underlined. There are no pictures, and has blank boxes with questions marks in it. I can get no farther than this white screen. I have tried flushing the DSN, un/installing iTunes, turning off the firewall, EVERYTHING. And my internet connection is perfectly fine. I'm really frustrated and would like a step-by-step solution please...HELP!!!!!

Also, when I run a diagnostics, it says the secure link to iTunes store failed, and when I click the help button next to it, nothing ever pops up. When it does, the window says that iTunes help is currently unavailable and that I should try again later.

  • Iphone 4 won't restore-network timed out error?

I updated my iphone 4 to iOS 7.0.3 and when it said to connect it to itunes I did and got an error message saying my phone was in recovery mode and i needed to restore it..
I tried restoring it and when it was almost done downloading an error message popped up and said the network timed out.. It has done this more than 3 times now. I turned my firewall off. I'm not using wireless internet, the modem is connected straight to my laptop.. my itunes is up to date.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO!!!
    HELP!

    Hey Da_urban_spaceman!
Here is an article for you that will help you address this specific error code:
Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
    Check USB connections
    Related errors: 13, 14, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1611, 1643-1650, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response,” and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
    Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you checked your connections and are still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues.
Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!
