I cannot acsess top task bar when I load Firefox

When I load Firefox and go on to Google the top task bar is missing which for sensitive log ins is much safer, and I also have no access to use to back arrow

Hi,
Please check if this happens in a [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles new profile]. If the new profile is okay, you can later [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Recovering%20important%20data%20from%20an%20old%20profile?s=profile&r=1&e=sph&as=s copy the needed personal data] from the old profile. Firefox stores your personal data and settings in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder another location (profile folder)] separate from its [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory files/folder]. A new profile would have the default Firefox settings ('''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window '''Options'''], and [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config about:config] ), and usually would also be empty of any '''Extensions''' and themes ('''Appearance''') in Tools > Add-ons) and their settings. Also, a new profile would have no previous stored website data/settings etc., ('''Tools''' > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Clear%20Recent%20History '''Clear Recent History''']).

  • Firefox 4 is not appearing in Task bar or some times it is Disappearing from task bar when i am minimising the window. so, i had to go to Task manager and find the icon.Its becoming big messy if tabs are not found , to switch programmes.

    I am unwilling to attempt navigation away from these sites. The pop-ups that occur on the attempt to leave a site or to close the browser are exit traps offering incentive to stay.
    Once upon a time, when the internet was less dangerous, I would be willing to close the exit pop-ups. Now, after twice being infected with malware trying to close the pop-ups, I now force close whichever browser I am using.
    Recently, I clicked on the red X to close one pop-up, and it installed a trojan that I had to pay to be removed. When I clicked on 'Leave' in another exit pop, it didn't exit and it turned out I was giving permission to run a script file. Now that criminals have learned these exit pop-ups can be used to force a click action, the sites using them have become dangerous.
    If I force the browser to close using Task manager, Please tell me how to stop FireFox from sending me directly back to the same site because it mistakenly believes it crashed when it did not. I forced it to close because I was on a site that had taken control of my browser and was not allowing me to leave the site.
    No other browser sends me back to the potentially dangerous sites. I prefer Firefox, but the new version must have a setting that allows me to get safely away from a problem site?

  • I can no longer place links to websites in the FF icon on my Windows 7 task bar, as I could with Firefox 4. Is it still possible? task bar since upgrading to Firefox 4. Can it be made possible?

    With FF v.3 I could place links to oft-used websites in the right-click expanded Firefox icon on the task bar. It appears that Firefox v. 4 no longer provides for that feature. Can it be done some other way? Otherwise I have to open my FF homepage and click on a toolbar bookmark for the website.

    >> Did you check what happens if you set the Task bar to be always visible?
    No, because I do not want my Task bar to always be visible. I want it to auto-hide.
    Firefox *is* maximized when this occurs. However, "maximized" window does not mean "cover up task bar", which is what FF is doing. I can maximize any of my other applications and still access the task bar as expected. For those applications, I did not have to hunt for special configuration files or anything else, because they are following what appears to be at the very least a UX best practice for Windows 7.
    I definitely appreciate your taking the time to share the information that you have shared, and I have no doubt that your suggestions work as you have outlined. However, I'm seeking a user experience with FF in which I do not have to treat it differently than other applications in order to view my Windows task bar when its window is maximized. And I can view the taskbar with FF maximized, *sometimes*. Other times, it stops appearing indefinitely, across multiple sessions/shutdowns/etc.
    (FYI, right now, I have FF maximized, and am able to view the Task bar, so I'm not currently experiencing this issue. I do not recall doing anything special to make it work.)
    Again, I appreciate your taking the time to answer, even if it wasn't what I wanted to hear. :)

  • There is no search bar when I open Firefox.

    there is no search bar when I open Firefox. I've been having to use Safari to type in a web address. This started just today

    Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.
    *View > Toolbars (press F10 to display the menu bar)
    Use Toolbar Layout (Customize) to open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.
    *check that "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
    *if "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette into the Customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
    *if missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar

  • Firefox 8.0 occasionally disappears from task bar when minimized but keeps running

    Running Firefox 8.0 on Windows XP, have 12 tabs open. Occasionally, when I minimize Firefox, it disappears from the task bar. I know that Firefox is still running because one of the open tabs is a radio station stream on Silverlight. The only way to get Firefox back is to click a link in an email then Firefox will open in a new tab (it is my default browser)

    I am guessing it is because you minimise Firefox to the Windows Xp task bar but have ot either locked that or set it to be on top so it may disappear from view.
    When the task bar is visible left click any space area on the taskbar the popup will have options including
    * '''''lock task bar''''' if you tick that the task bar stays the same size
    * '''''properties''''' if you click on that you get other options for customising the task bar
    * also see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taskbar

  • I can no longer see my task bar when I am in another program. How do I get it back?

    Lost the menu bar too, but I fixed that. Still do not know how I did it. I want my task bar back so I can adjust volume and see the time. Only time i see it now is when I am on the desktop and all icons are showing.

    As you can see from a brand-new virgin install of Firefox, no addons, no pre-existing profile, version 29 DOES put the menu bar on the taskbar. And Firefox, configured as I have it, on a system configured with High-Contrast colors (black in my case) turned on, Firefox is unthemeable.
    But never mind, I solver this one myself. I booted into XP and used an un-updated Firefox to find a new addon named "Classic Theme Restorer". That did the trick. Mark this one as solved. But....
    I wish developers (not just Firefox) who wish to fancy up their user interfaces would think about how it would affect the visually impaired. We use computers too.

  • Using Firefox 7 in Windows 7, however, when hovering over task bar the icon reveals Firefox 4 beta 12. Is there a fix, please?

    When hovering over the Firefox icon in the task bar on a blank desktop in Windows 7, the wrong version is revealed.

    Hello jesterabk, '''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
    ''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
    ''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
    '''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
    ''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
    ''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.

    I solved this by clicking the 3 horizontal bars (Open Menu) at top right of screen, then clicked "Menu Bar" in the options shown. Suddenly my toolbar and task bar appeared on the screen and stayed.

  • When I load firefox I do not get the yellow bar at very top. Why not?

    I have loaded Firefox 5.0 and I do not get the yellow bar across the very top that all the instructions show and that shows on my daughters computer.

    You see the orange (on Linux gray) Firefox button if the Menu Bar is hidden, so you need to hide the Menu bar via View > Toolbars, also accessible via Firefox > Options.
    If you need to access the hidden Menu bar then press F10 or hold down the Alt key to make the Menu Bar appear temporarily.
    You can place the Tab Bar on top.
    * View > Toolbars : [ ] Menu Bar
    * View > Toolbars : [X] Tabs on Top

  • Why there is an icon in the task bar when Firefox is running?!

    There is an icon in task bar, and some popup channels upon left-click.
    I have been using Firefox for many years because it's CLEAN but this icon makes me feeling uncomfortable. I don't find the way to disable this icon in options or somewhere else.

    The iTunes Icon on the task bar;
    You need iTunes Preferences:
    Edit>>Preferences>>Advanced tab.
    Can you find that? There is a checkbox near the bottom: "Show iTunes icon in system tray".
    The safe mode start: You need to press ctrl shift and then open iTunes, keep holding ctrl shift until iTunes opens.
    Any program that you have that makes use of your iTunes library could potentially prevent iTunes closing as it has to be open in order for another program to access iTunes info.
    Another thing that can cause problems is Bonjour. You can try stopping the bonjour service and then opening iTunes - then check if it closes.
    The following article include instructions for stopping bonjour:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2250?viewlocale=en_US
    If you want a brute force way of looking for other things interfering with iTunes, try MSConfig:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2292?viewlocale=en_US
    There is a link to the XP version on the page if necessary.
    This is a diagnostic method, not a solution.
