I Cannot Back Up My BlackBerry Passport

When I transferred data from my Z10 to my Passport a few months ago, something went awry: The data transferred successfully and I could back up subsequently, but the device name stayed the same as that for the Z10. I had to type the Passport name each time, at which point a message displayed that the new name could not be saved. Recently, I have been receiving the message that the Wi-Fi connection has to be turned off after I have already turned off the phone's Wi-Fi connection. Now I cannot even back up; the phone never shows up as being connected. How can I fix this faulty setup and troublesome resullts?

You should be importing them to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera

Blackberry Passport sim tray issue is prevalent and they will not fix it for you because it is your fault. Ridiculous.

I bought my Blackberry passport on Feb 13rd. Right out of the box the sim tray didn't read the sim. I thought it is my sim's problem, so I waited for another sim. New sim came in, still didn't read. After a long call with customer support and BB virtual support, I had my device sent in around mid March. They checked it and said I damaged the sim tray and I need to pay 268$ to have it fixed. I though it is ridiculous since I haven't done anything to the phone. So I argued with them and eventually they agreed to have my fixed without cost.
However when they sent me back the device, I poped in the sim and it only works for 1 day, on and off the second day and then not reading the sim at all after that. I think the sim tray's problem with the passport is prevalent and the pin can be broken by the simple act of poping in the sim card. My ATT sim is working perfectly fine on the 5s and my brother's iphone 6.
After 2 days of receiving the "repaired" device, I call them again and this time they said it is certainly my fault and if I send it in again, I will have to pay 268$ to have it fixed.
So I thought for people out ther if you have a passport, don't pop in and out the sim card. It can really easily be broken.
For me, I think now I just gonna use my "broken sim tray new passport" as a reading device. After 10 years, I will officially switch to other brand. Still love the keyboard though, but anyway.

Check that your sim card does not have a burr or edge on it before you insert it, as that may be what's damaging the SIM pins.
Site anly allow linlks to web images, so here's what the tray is supposed to look like - with the SIM cover on.
FWIW - a T3 torx driver is required to remove the screws around the SIM and TF card tray cover. That would allow you to look at the underlying pins - and possibly - with a bit of luck, fix them on your own.

BlackBerry Passport won't get past 100%

Hello,
Yesterday I tried opening an e-mail on my BlackBerry Passport - the screen faded to a darker colour (as if it was going to open it), then returned to the hub. I tried to open it again and the same thing happened.
I refreshed the hub by swiping 5 times from the top right to the centre of the phone - I was still unable to open the e-mail, or any other e-mails I had read in the past.
I then restarted my phone, however when it was rebooting, here's what happens:
It displays the BlackBerry logo
It shows the 'loading' screen (BB logo and the square loading bar around the logo)
It gets to 100%, and that's it... nothing further happens
Occasionally, it automatically restarts the cycle, displays the logo and then begins loading to 100% again. It stays on 100% for hours, the phone gets extremely hot then this morning the battery had died on it.
I plugged in the charger, then minutes later the cycle started again.
I have tried powering off & on, holding both of the volume buttons and loads of other combinations, but the same issue persists. Interestingly, the phone doesn't seem able to actually fully power off. If I hold the power button down for 10 seconds, the screen goes black, a red light shows for around 2-3 seconds, and the restart process begins again. This happens regardless of how I shut the device down.
Ordinarilly I'd take the battery out of my Q10 if something like this happened and put it back in - obviously this isn't an option with the Passport.
Is there anything I can do? I tried to wipe it from Link, but it doesn't recognize the device is plugged in via USB.
This is literally 2 weeks old and I'm extremely frustrated that this is happening to such a new and 'necessary' device.

Yea, I would be frustrated also.
1. You can return the device for a warranty replacement.
2. Try connecting to Link via a different USB port on your PC, or use a different PC with Link installed.
You might try also making the connection to Link while the device is rebooting.
I agree, a new device shouldn't have these issues.

I cannot make backup on BlackBerry server for my Q10

Hello, I need somebody to advise why my Q 10 cannot be backed up on Blackberry server!. does this related to my country location? Kuwait!

Yes, to BlackBerry Protect. But, as I said, BB Protect is not, IMHO, to be considered a FULL AND COMPLETE backup. For legacy, only when it was supplemented by other processes could a FULL AND COMPLETE backup be accomplished.
But, with BB10, lacking the Protect component does not mean that daily backups cannot be achieved. They just must be achieved in a different manner (e.g., via LINK, by using an OTA service to keep Contacts and Calendar synced, etc.).

Blackberry Passport screen unattached

Hi Dear Blackberry,
recently i saw an issue in ur passport product, not a software issue or hardware, but a quality issue that i did not expect by high-end smartphone like blackberry passport. This fact disappointed me 'cause i'm blackberry user since 10 years old, and first person in my city that explain blackberry potentials.

I'm disappointed by ur quality, i did not expected by blackberry-RIM.

People like me that use his blackberry smartphone to confront with iphone or others brand don't accept this. my regard,

yes i solved using loctite xD, but you can use special glue for smartphone glasses.

T-Mobile and Blackberry Passport

I have been with Blackberry for well over a decade. I currently have a Bold 9780 that I bought through T-Mobile. I have to stay on the T-Mobile network because I spend a lot of time in the Middle East and Europe and need the wifi calling, ("UMA") and thus going to another carrier is not an option. I would like to upgrade from the Bold 9780 to a Passport (my current device is increasingly obsolete), but because of Blackberry's snit-fit over T-Mobile's since discontinuied trade in policy involving Apple devices T-Mobile is no longer allowed to sell Blackberries, and thus I cannot get a wifi-enabled Passport that will work on the T-Mobile system. Yes, I know I can use Viber, etc., but I want to use a native application on my smart phone.
My question: When, if ever, will Blackberry get over its psychological problem and add T-Mobile to the list of authorized sellers/carriers?

First, BlackBerry would like nothing more than to have T-Mobile's business.
The Passport will work fully on T-Mobile, however, there is no wifi calling for devices with OS 10.3 and up. No idea if that will ever come or not given the animosity between T-Mobile's CEO and BlackBerrry.

Blackberry Passport Display

Hello to all,
I have since two weeks the greatful Blackberry passport.
But now I have an angry problem.
When I call somebody or somebody calls me, after a few seconds, the display becomes dark and I have problems, to finish the call, because I see nothing.
When I am in luck, the display lights, when the other side finished the call.
The most problem is, when its ringing by the other side for a while, the display becomes dark, and I cannot finish the ringing.
I must switch it off with the main switch on the top
I have done alle the test, which are possible , all all were okay.
Does anybody else has this problem?
And what can I do, to stop it.
I have the actually Software10.3.0.908

How do I install itunes.exe on blackberry passport? I've downloaded file but it will not open.

I'm trying to download an app that's only available on iTunes. I've downloaded iTunes.exe but it will not open on Blackberry passport. Is there a specific .exe version that I need to download?

You can't. iTunes itself runs on Windows PCs or Macs. Any apps available from the iTunes Store will only run on iPhones or iPads.

How do I get the iPad to continue to back up using the 5G free iCloud when it tells me it cannot back up anymore even though I have deleted almost everything from my iPad?

The iPad keeps telling me that there is no more room to backup. I have deleted almost everything from my iPad and yet I still get the same message.....cannot back up. I do NOT want to purchase more G's as I regularly download all important photos, videos, notes and such onto my iMac. I would like to keep to the free 5 G's iCloud space. Shall I also delete apps that I don't use much, magazines even though there are not any active issue on my iPad?

No, you did not have to delete anything.
You don't understand how iCloud works
ICloud does NOT backup anything purchased from iTunes (music, apps, movies, podcasts)
ICloud only backs up your personal data.
Camera roll, contacts, documents, app data and personal information and settings
This is how your manage your iCloud account:
1.    Transfer your pictures and video from camera roll to your computer, Dropbox, or Box for iOS .   These are free apps for iPad and Mac and provide online storage for your photos and documents.
Once your pictures are safely stored.....
2.   Go to settings
iCloud
Storage and backup
Manage storage
(Choose your device if you have more than one)
Show all apps
     Now go down the list and turn off switch for camera roll and any other app that you do not need to save data for.
      Apps are listed with the largest first.
If you have several devices sharing iCloud (as I do) you may want to only backup the important device and important app data.

Try 1 step at a time and do a backup, if no joy then do the next step:
1. Switching off your anti-virus and firewall.
2. Computer iTunes menu > Edit > Preferences... > Devices > delete your backup

My devices say they cannot back up to icloud. How can i view and manage my icloud on line?

Both my ipad and iphone say that they cannot back up to icloud because my storage is full. When I try to access icloud online on my PC I only see a few icons. (Contacts, numbers, pages and email) I do not see any pictures, messages or anything else that I have on my devices. How can I access pictures and other data? And how can I delete from icloud to create more room?

You can access your iCloud storage to make more room at:
Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage
You cannot manipulate the contents of iCloud backups except by restoring the backup to a device. But you can use the Manage Storage method to see what objects you can manipulate.
