Yep, they do take American Express on iTunes when you set up your account.
go on Amex website and look for prepaid card - you can apply right there, they ship it within a week.
they also have a website to manage the card
you can link it to your bank account and load it (takes up to 5 days)
you can load it automatically on a monthly or a weekly basis
This should allow you to purchase from Apple.
I use my Visa credit cards, so I've never tried my AmEx, but since they show AmEx as acceptable, it should work. I have used AmEx at retail stores as a credit, so it should work.

Are you in the US with a US based account and a US billing address ? If you aren't then you can't buy from the US store - you can only buy content from your own country's store. If you are in the US then do you get any messages when you try to purchase from the store ?

Buying from Appstore for my company

I need to make a purchase from Appstore for my company but I only have my own, personal credit card. Can I make the purchase using my own credit card, but have the company selling the software make the invoice for my company?

I think that by doing that, the license of the software I purchased will be issued in my name and not the company's. Even if I get financial compansation, I think I cannot transfer the license.
Can I purchase an app making a bank transfer?
Or can I make a separate billing form for my company and cancel my personal one which I used to make the puchase (in a way make the sofware company transfer the software by issuing the same invoice with another beneficiary and canceling the original one)?

Ios 7 cannot download from appstore

i just upgrade my ipod to ios 7 and now i cant download apps from appstore

If you have a lot of apps (1000s of them) associated with your apple id then you may well have a recurring problem accessing the appstore in iOS 7. In this case the app store page won't populate in iOS 7 (i.e. it remains white) or the busy icon (that replaces the price / free button when you attempt to make a purchase) spins endlessly without the app ever downloading. You may also find that the app store freezes when switching to it from another app (via the multitasking page) or when you attempt to open it.
If you have this issue you can try this workaround (but it might not fix the problem for long):-
Settings > iTunes & App Store > tap your apple id > Logout
Next restart your iOS device (hold home + sleep/wake buttons down at the same time until the apple logo appears, then relase both buttons).
Once iOS 7 has booted (i.e the lock screen is visible), enter your pin. Do not login to your apple id yet.
Open the appstore (it should open fairly quickly).
Search for the app you wish to purchase. Tap the buy button.
You will be challenged for your apple id. Enter it.
The app will download normally.
However, it is possible (maybe even likely) that the app store will start acting up again when you attempt to purchase a subsquent app, or if you close the app store and reopen it. If problems persist contact apple support.
Side note:
What causes this problem isn't entirely clear, but I suspect that the iOS 7 App Store caches purchase data locally (on your iOS device) to make the purchase tab available more quickly. It may also be used to offload some of the server load re indicating to you which apps you already own in app store search results. I suspect that if you have "too many" apps for this new approach then the cache becomes too large for the App Store to manage properly, resulting in lock ups, crashes and/or unending load/purchase wait times. I stress "suspect", because there is only circumstantial evidence to support this theory (I.E. increasing "other data" once logged in to an apple id, cloud icons appearing on purchases even if you log out of your apple id and restart iOS 7, no problems on apple id's with only a few hundred purchases etc etc). Ideally, if such a cache exists, then Apple should probably make it optional as it uses up SSD space and can have negative impact on the App Stores usability for some users.

Cannot purchase from AppStore

Hi Guys,
I have only had my iPad for a week, and had no issues with it at all... until now.
I've tried to purchase some apps from the app store, when I click the price of the app, it goes green to say Install App... when I tap it again to install, it just goes back to the price. If i tap the price, it prompts me to install, when i tap, it goes back to the price.
it's doing this over and over and over and over... and then finally it will work, and the app will appear on my screen... but then it doesn't download. it just says waiting.
Sometimes I get prompted to enter my iTunes password... and then nothing.
I've restarted my iPad. I've even gone into Settings -> Store and signed out... but when I go to sign in, it tells me my password is incorrect (despite being the same password I've always had).
HELP!

Update.
I turned my ipad off, and left it for 30mins.
Turned it back on and went to Settings -> store. Entered my details and it still said my info was incorrect.
Tried the AppStore, and re-tried the apps that weren't downloading. No longer having the tap to install issue as previously mentioned (yay!). Tapped to install one of the apps, was prompted for my login details. First time, it said it was incorrect. Second time, it said the appstore was unavailable, and the third time, it downloaded.
Same process for the remaining apps... they took a lot longer than usual to download, but it seems to be working okay now.
Not sure if the AppStore was having maintenance done, or if anybody else is / was having this issue??

Cannot buy from app store and app store images missing

Hi Everyone,
I have a 1st gen iPod touch running iOS 3.1.3 which is the latest version I can install. Everything was fine until yesterday morning when out of the blue, I could no longer download anything from the app store. The buy / download button does not work. Also, many of the app store images are missing.
I have restored the iPod to a clean install but the problem remains.
Any ideas?

In case you haven't run across it yet, there seem to be a bunch of threads in this forum with lots of people having the same issue. My original iPhone running iOS 3.1.3 is having the same problems you describe. (Plus, my old laptop died, so I can't download apps through a computer until I get a new one.) My personal opinion is that it's a problem on the server side of things. Not sure whether Apple has decided to quit supporting these earlier iOSes or if it's a problem they're trying to fix. Keeping my fingers crossed that Apple is planning to fix it, and it will be done soon.

I have moved to Australia from the UK, but cannot buy from the Australian iTunes with my account. Please help.

I have a PC (bought in the UK) and an iPad (bought in Australia), but only buy songs from my PC.
It keeps directing me back to the UK store whenever I try to buy something - it is getting so frustrating! Any ideas or ways to fix this much appreciated.
Surely I don't need to create a whole new account?

Cannot buy from Itunes

Hi all,
I have setup my ATV and it was working fine. But now I can not buy content from iTunes. I can view trailers of all shows and movies but when I try to but an episode or a movie one of three things happen:
1. The screen "Connecting to iTunes..." just stays on for ever (fell a sleep for an hour and was still on the same screen when I woke up).
2. It says that iTunes is not available right now and to try again later.
3. It says that my account dosen't exsist or that my password is wrong. I tried many times now. My password is not wrong and the account exsists because I can get content on iTunes via my computer.
This happen to anyone? What is the fix?

Try buying something, even a song, from iTunes on your computer. Sometimes after software updates there is a new 'user agreement' that you need to accept and the interface on the ATV does not work for that, so you have to buy something on the computer, to force the agreement form to come up on your screen, so you can agree to it and authorize the account. I had to do this recently after the iTunes 8 update.

I am running the latest version of iTunes and OSX. Everything was fine until then.
I went to purchase a movie from within iTunes and as soon as I hit Buy, iTunes locked up and would no longer respond. I thought it was a fluke, and went on and purchased on my AppleTV (3, latest software) and was able to watch the movie. However, iTunes on my Mac does not show the movie as being purchased, even though my Apple TV, iPad and iPhone all show the movie as purchased. When I go into iTunes on the Mac, and select Store menu, Check For Available Downloads, nothing comes up to download.
I have deauthorized and authorized.
I have checked/repaired permissions.

I am having the same problem on my ipod touch and my iPad 2 any suggestions on how to fix this

Cannot buy from iTunes Japan..

There is a brand new album I want to buy, but iTunes will not let me do it.. can't seem to find the link to complain to Apple about it either- if I can use my Visa card in Jp with no problem, why does iTunes say my card is invalid there, makes no sense..

Might make sense if there was any chance of that cd ever coming out in any other country- which there isn't..
Also, they should make that clear in the error message, instead of merely saying my credit card is invalid.
I find it pretty hard to believe that I am willing to pay for content but not allowed to..
That said, would buying myself a gift card for that country's iTunes store work?
