I cannot change or control where download files go

When I click a web link to download a file I get an option to run or save the file. So far so good. I do not get an option to tell Firefox whre to save the file even though the option to ask every time is set. I also cannot specify a location to save by clicking save to ..the browse button does nothing.

I have the same problem. I guess these are bugs on Control Center app, and hope Apple sees to this and release updates to fix them soon.

Cannot Change Identities / Email where Submit button emails responses to

I have created, entiriely, in LiveCycle a form. When it is distributed it AUTOMATICALLY inserts my own email to where the repsonses go to. Cannot - REPEAT CANNOT- Alter it.
THIS IS NOT THE SUBMIT BUTTON THAT YOU PUT INTO A FORM.
This is the "Submit" that is automatically generated and put into the PDF TAB when a form is distributed.
I've gone into Acrobat / LiveCycle and changed "identies" but the response STILL goes to my Email. It NEVER picks up my changed Identity - and shows my own email and not the one I want responses sent to.
Rebooted after chainging Identities - STILL goes to my email.
Edited in the Acrobat - STILL - goes to my email - SUBMIT button (automatically created when you distribute the form) ALWAYS says to send to my email.
Edit the options/properties to change - MY EMAIL IS GREYED OUT AND CANNOT ALTER IT IN THE DISTIBUTON panel where you can select options as how the form is distrubited - selecting EMAIL response to form submission.
It ALWAYS SHOWS my Active Directoy LOGON ID as the form OWNER - CANNOT CHANGE IT.
We are IN an Active Directory environemnt and my logon account has NO RIGHTS to change MASTER registry Win7 entries at all - only (like normal) my own preferences - BUT LIVE CYCLE / ADOBE DOES NOT CHANGE ANYTHING with email at all concerning the auto email sent to portion. I can change "sent by" but NOT who I want responses sent to.
Cannot FIND at all any XML preferences file in registry / file system to hack and manually change it.
You look at the XML data in the form and it shows my email address - AND ALL XML data is BLOCKED from being edit at all in the form - and NO idea where it is pulling this information from.
Is there ANY WAY at all to change --- WITHOUT WRITING ANY CODE - to alter where a distributed form is to send email repsonses to.
CANNOT, REPEAT CANNOT - use any cloud, online or any external source at all. Cannot use Acrobat.com.

The email address is coded into the server script file that processes the form data.
Look for the below file on the server and see if you can open it and locate the email address. It's a Cold Fusion file

ITunes cannot change video kind for multiple files

i put many video files to library, and then i want to change each video kind into music video, but unfortunately i can't find an easy to change those files at once.
i have to change them one by one.
my question is: is it possible to change "video kind" of many files at itunes library at once? how?

No, it's not possible to batch-edit the fields on the Video tab. This seems like an outright oversight and will probably be corrected in a future version soon. What's worse, after you take the time to change the Video settings on your files one at a time, iTunes won't bother saving all the changes in the file itself. The Video Kind setting will change to the default "Movie" when the file is removed and added back to the library. For instance, all the "TV Show" files you back up to disk become "Movie" when added back to the library later. You have to edit the Video tab one by one again! It's maddening.

Cannot change .CBR/Z read only files

Hi Everyone,
I have downloaded some comics and want to get them into an app in itunes then onto my ipad. The files are "read only".
When I right click and change the properties from read only it does not change the files inside the CBR/Z files.
If I extract the files then I cannot get the folder into itunes.
Any ideas how I can fix this?

No.
iTunes writes the data to the file and updates the iTunes library.itl file (iTunes database file) so it can display all the data without having to reread every file all the time.
Whenever iTunes access a file, it rereads the metadata from that file and updates the iTunes database.
Since the file was not updated (read only), next time you access it, iTunes "corrects" its data..

How do I control where downloaded items go on my desktop?

I know this is a weird question, but I build charts online that I then download. They seem to download anywhere on my desktop... so I'm constantly having to hit F11 to move everything to find the chart I just downloaded. I leave space at the far right of my desktop so they'll download there, but they don't always end up there (and yet sometimes they do end up there). Is there a way to control this?

In Safari Prefernces you can designate the location for the Downloads.
If they go to different spots on your Desktop it could be that your View Options [⌘+J] do not have a specific order for their organization.

Cannot submit widget to Apple Downloads : File size does not match

Hello all,
I made a widget to play Go that I finalized yesterday ( http://lesiteajulien.free.fr ).
Unfortunately, I have not succeeded to uploading it to the Apple widget repository, since the submit page keeps returning the following error :
"The filesize from the file you uploaded and the file that is downloaded from the given download URL do NOT match."
But I am absolutely sure that both zip files are the SAME. I downloaded it from my server a few times and compared the size with the original file I'm sending to Apple: they match. So I guess my server is not the cause.
I tryied from various places and with various browsers.
Did anybody have any similar problem while trying to upload a widget ?
Any idea ?

Cannot change Locator Control when defining new Subinventory

Hi,
I'm trying to create a new subinventory, in R12.1.3, and can't change the Locator Control field which is set to Preprecified. The option is grayed out/locked.
In the Inventory organization parameters the Locator Control is set to "determined on subinventory level", but any chage doesn't affect the option in the subinentory.
Can anyone pls explain why?

Cannot install O2013 dictionary from downloaded file

Office 2013 PRO French in enterprise environment installed as application post installation after Windows 7 deployment from MDT.
Default language is set as French Canada. Under Options - Languages the dictionary for Default (Fr-CA) shown as not installed.
Double click on NOT INSTALLED link. It brings MS download dictionaries page.
I saved French Proofing (13MB) and run it. After accepting Lic Agreement installation starts but after 3 sec window closed.
The result : Dictionary is not installed. Tried to install directly from MS page (Run instead of Save). The same result.
Sure that installation from MS Store is not an option in our environment.
How to tackle this prob?

According to your description, I suppose that you download proofing tools 2013 from Microsoft website, but it fails. Is it right?
Which explorer did you use to download the French Proofing? Maybe you can download it again in a different explorer.

Display of Downloaded files

How do I change the way the downloaded files are displayed? At the moment they are all shown as individual icons when I click on the dock icon . I would prefer a list in date order so the latest download is easy to find.

Control-click the Dock icon and change the settings as desired.

Cannot Change Permissions

Here's the scenario:
Server: 10.5.8
Desktops: 10.5.8
User Homedirs: AFP
The user's can connect and work on their documents within their network homedirs without a problem. Sometimes an excel spreadsheet will come up with an error that the file is read-only. To resolve this, they just rename the file. But what I have noticed is that all the users cannot change the permissions on their files. If you do a command+I on the file you see the permissions, but there is no lock icon to unlock the permissions portion. If you change the permissions, whether user, group, or everyone, you receive an error that says: "A system error has occurred: error code -50" However, if I go to the command line and type in for example: sudo chmod -vf 0775 filename. The permissions change. What's going on?
Is this a POSIX issue... where the drive is running on POSIX compliance and not ACLs? I noticed in Server Admin that the File Sharing setup for the drive did not have an ACL list. Everything was being done by POSIX permissions.

I have a problem with my data folder for Eudora. There is a category that I do not know or recognise.
The usual Command-I opens folder info; the at the bottom permissions reads as follows:
Name Privilege
1 michaelg (me) Read & Write
2 (unknown) Custom
3 everyone No Access
Settings for 1 & 3 are fine; however, I am unable to delete the 2nd entry which is an alien implant. Could some kind individual help me to do this in Terminal, if possible?

I used the migration assistant to transfer music files from my PC to my mac. But now I cannot seem to locate where the files have gone. This is my first mac please help.

Firefox crashes whenever i want to install any addon or download any file. Some times i am receiving error while downloading any file like "could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder"

I am the user of latest firefox 3.6.6 browser. I am getting problems of frequent crashes whenever i tries to install any addon. The crashes also occures whenever i want to download any file.
I am also receiving errors while downloading any file like:
"C:\Users\****\AppData\Local\Temp\******.001.part could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder.
Change the folder properties and try again, or try saving in a different location. I already changed it many many times but still the same problem."
Adobe flash palyer is also giving problems of not responding. I am using updated version of it already. Java is also updated.
I already uninstalled firefox compeletly and re installed it many many times but still the same problem. I also scanned my computer with avira and malware bytes' Anti malware and got no dection. Please ractify this problem ASAP lest my profession will suffer.

Having trouble with downloads; cannot change downloads folder; items save to downloads folder but I cannot open them;it save all downloads as a .part file

I cannot download any attachments. I get the pop up message to save it, I save it but it saves all attachments as a .part file which cannot be opened (or it just opens in Word even when it is a music/sound file.
Also, I tried to change the folder I download to and it will not let me. I click "choose" in the downloads prefs area but it does not let me change it. the button is unresponsive.

Lion hides the Library directory, but there are instructions on this page that describe how to make it visible.

In Snow Leopard, the Firefox profile is in User/<username>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/<randomname>.default. I am assuming that the path has not changed in Lion.
Finding something in the Library used to be easy before Apple decided that Spotlight should no longer access it, so I have taken to using Easyfind instead. If the path to the profile has changed in Lion, you could still find it by searching for cookies.sqlite, but you cannot use Spotlight for that. Easyfind is much more versatile anyway.
