I cannot clear history without clearing cookies with Safari 8.0

I have the new Safari 8.0 with OS X Yosemite. I can not clear history without also clearing cookies. With Maverick it was possible to clear history and keep cookies, not now. This is NOT an improvement! Is there a way to keep cookies and clear history?

this is absolutely the worst period of apple I've ever experienced. and I've worked with them since apple iic.
iOS 8 made my working phone a wreck, and then they take down the option to (downgrade) fix it.
yosemite has left with me a computer that cannot do anything. bluetooth is broken and causes audio delay.
there is constant video delay cause of system wide slow down. my system cache is overflowing constantly
since upgrading, i am continously throwing away trash just to keep the system working.
no mail notifications so i have to leave the mail program open all the time which also causes system slowdown.
this is the worst heap of junk they ever "sold" on us. i had working machines, after i did what they said would be fine i now have 2 piles of wasted money.

I just installed Yosemite, now I can't clear history without clearing cookies. How do I clear  history and keep cookies?

I think you guys make a great point, I too don't like how my cookies are erased when I clear history and have to use the go around. Just a reminder and I'm sure you all know, this is a user to user forum and Apple may or may not get to see your opinion. I think you should let them know. You can leave them feedback at the following url. https://www.apple.com/feedback/safari.html
    Hope that helps,

  • How can I delete history without deleting cookies on safari yosemite?

how can I delete history without deleting cookies on safari yosemite?

actually, if I click on history and go to bottom and delete history, with Yosemite, it will delete cookies and all... I get message: if you delete history, you will delete cookies and other information from web sites.
to avoid that the procedure is this: History > Show History>Select All>Delete.
    thanks for trying to help.
    good day.

I get no response when trying to erase history and/or cookies in Safari since last update.  The command line words are light gray and will not respond to touch.  Thank you.

Try going to settings>general> restrictions and remove all restrictions first.

Hi, I am loading music onto my z10 by just dragging dropping into the music folder on my sd card (about 4 gb music) and it is plugged into the usb, and I'm finding it is taking soo long (10 hours estimated already waited an hour) previously i loaded an even bigger file and it was long but never took this long (maybe took 2-3 hours previously). Just wondering why it takes soo long to write to an sd card as opposed to downloading from the internet or downloading over wifi or if there is something wrong with my setup (im running windows 7 with a decent laptop by 2 years ago standard), just hoping someone can comment on what they know or have experienced
    Thanks Mark
i use a SD adapter in my laptop which works faster than using a cable to my Z
A single large file when copying is faster than many smaller files on almost any SD card.
I sometimes use wifi sharing and just let it do its thing while doing some thing else

  • Why doesn't my clear history completely clear my history

    Hi there,
I'm trying to clear all of the browsing history from my Firefox but it's not working. The function clears all of my searches and website preferences and passwords bar one or two websites. I've ticked all of the options for clearing history, apart from 'form and search history' as it won't let me tick this box. I also deleted all of my bookmarks, ran a CC cleaner and STILL there's search history when I start to type into the bar at the top. When I go into my history --> show all history having cleared it, it says that there is nothing there...
For example.. when I start to type P in the bar at the top.. UK Parliament immediately comes up. And my bar at the top of the page isn't one of those where you can just automatically search via Google so I don't think its doing that!...
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox but even so some websites are STILL there! How can I track these websites down and get rid of them?
    Thanks for your help!!

Drag Places to the Trash. Quit Firefox. Empty Trash. That should work. It just worked for me after I got the same "in use" message.

  • Safari 5.1.3 in Lion refuses to keep cleared history items cleared.

I am trying to clear the History in Safari on my mid-2011 MacBook Air. No matter how or how often I clear the History, the next time I open Safari, the history listing has been repopulated excluding the entries from the current day.
I want to clear ALL history.

    Hi..
    Quit Safari.
    Go to ~/Library/Safari
Move the History.plist file from the Safari folder to the Trash.
    Relaunch Safari.
~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder.
For Lion:   To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library

  • No way to delete history without deleting cookies and website data

Unless I'm missing it, there's no way to delete browsing history without also deleting cookies and website data. Apple, please give us a separate option to delete only the history!

I don't think you're missing it. Way to go Apple!

  • Clear history also clears search history

I've finally "upgraded" (if you would call it that) to Safari 5. After figuring out how to disable "top sites", I was almost happy (other than several crashes per day). One REALLY irritating thing is that when I clear my browsing history, my search history is also cleared. Is there a way to clear these two histories independently? Often I want to clear my browsing history but like my search history there to remind me of stuff.

    HI,
You can clear history Manually from Safari / Preferences - General but not independent of one another.
There might be a productivity Safari Extension available though...

  • Cannot log in to Google "Accounts" with Safari

I cannot seem to login and use Google Services with Safari 2.04.
This started when I discovered I was unable to log in to google calendar in Safari, and became a support ticket to Google (which is still pending) and is really confounding me.
What happens is that I go to go to http://www.google.com/accounts and attempt to login. Once I hit the submit button, accounts page plainly refreshes. However, if I put in a totaly invalid user or password, I will get a message telling me the user or pass is invalid.
In Firefox, if I attempt the same scenario from google.com/accounts, after submit, I get the page that shows me all the services available for me to use, like gMail, calendar, etc.
    Here's what I've already tried.
    Safari troubleshooting...
    - backup/remove ~/Library/Safari
    - backup/remove ~/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari
    - backup/remove ~/Library/Caches/Safari
    - backup/remove ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.internetconfig.plist
    - backup/remove ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.internetconfigpriv.plist
    - backup/remove ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
    - backup/remove ~/Library/Cookies
After removing all the above, Safari is basically back to Apple's factory default settings. Even after all this, Safari still cannot log in. The same behaviour occurs when I hit the submit button, I'm just brought right back to the same page I started at, and am not logged in. Calendar never renders, or I'm left looking at the accounts log in screen.
It's notable that this issue does not appear to be specific to my google account, but specific to one particular Mac I use. I am able to login to google/accounts on my laptop, but not on my office machine using Safari.
To make it even more mind numbing, it seems to be specific to a user profile on my office Mac. I tried creating a new user account on this same machine, and with the fresh clean home directory, was able to login to google accounts, calendar, etc. So, obviously, a totally clean home directory, library, app support, etc results in usability.
I'm not sure where else to go with this. Are there other supporting files to Safari within my home directory that I missed removing to set it back to "clean". I cannot imagine the problem being specific to the application bundle for Safari since each user on the computer is using the same one, this behaviour must be related to something within the user home directory somewhere.
Anyone else seen this same behaviour and know how to fix it, preferably without just creating a new user and home dir.

P.S you did make sure to QUIT Safari before removing the cache folder

  • Cannot make changes without clearing cache

I am having a problem when making changes of any sort to any page. In order for my change to show up, I have to clear entire web cache through webcache admin page. For instance, I tried to delete a group from access privelge list from one of my tabs and it would not show up until after I had cleared entire webcache. This applies to anything now, any change I make I have to clear entire webcache. Please help!!!
    Doug

To add to Erik's answer the invalidation messages are sent from the Portal repository (utl_http) database direct to the Web Cache invalidation port, it is common for customers to erroneously set up a firewall blocking HTTP traffic form the db tier to the WC tier which results in the symptoms you describe.
    Cheers,
    Mick.

  • Cannot Load Text Without Cheking the (With Master Data option)

    Hi,
Suppose I want to create a Characteristic Infoobject, that will have only <b>text</b> but no attributes or hierarchies.
For that in the Master data/texts tab of the Infoobject definition I checked the WITH TEXTS option but unchecked the WITH MASTER DATA option.
But when I was trying to load the text to the infoobject it was not giving an error. But when I checked the WITH MASTER DATA option I was able to load the text.
Can any one say why this happens, that though we do not want to load attributes, we have to check the with master data option for loading texts only.
    Thanks in advance.

Can You tell us the error description..
You donot need to check the master data option..
Texts can be loaded without checking that option..
If you tell us the error message we would be able to help you identify the real cause..
Check for error log in SM37 or ST22

  • Cannot connect to Cisco WebEx meeting with Safari 5.1.9 / 10.6.8

I'm trying to join an Internet meeting which is running through the Cisco WebEx system. When I click on the meeting url, it takes me to a login page; I enter my name & email, click the Join button, and go to a page that says "One Moment Please…" And stops; it goes no further.
If I drag the url to Chrome, it goes through the same routine to "One Moment Please…" then after one moment the "Cisco WebEx Meeting Center" software (previously downloaded and installed) opens, and I'm in the meeting okay.
    Same positive result with Firefox.
But Safari won't do it. I discovered that Java (which is used by the Cisco software) was turned off in Safari, so turned it on; no help. I reinstalled Safari (5.1.9), Java (update 15), and the latest Security update. No help. Chrome and Firefox still work, but not Safari.
Of course I could use Chrome or Firefox, but after being an Apple loyalist for 25 years, my first choice of course is Safari… though I'm beginning to wonder why, with all the constant "Web pages must be force reloaded" and spinning beachballs it's been giving me.
I was on the phone for an hour with a knowledgeable and helpful Cisco rep, who in the end was as stumped as I was. Everything works, but Safari.
(Btw, I found a Discussion from 2009 which suggests "WebEx uses VERY OLD APIs and will not run in 64-bit Safari. For now, use Safari in 32-bit mode or just use Firefox to launch WebEx." Tried that, didn't help. Presumably WebEx has be updated in the last four years.)
    Anyone have any ideas?

I'd use that terminal command - takes seconds (and a restart) + no download. But otherwise yes - the 10.6.8 v1.1 then the update & anything else software update picks up (not safari, obviously )
Some people happily get a copy of just the safari 5.0.5 application & use that, since apparently it works, although I'm not sure what cookie function you'll get (easy enough to see). You'd use Pacifist to extract it from the 5.0.5 installer package, or grab it from a backup.
Although you'd hope software update would catch the security change - I'm not sure if the combo would overwrite the new or not... on the one hand, it's newer, but on the other, it sure over-wrote safari 5.1 when i checked it... so better to be sure, I haven't checked since that update.
If you look at the files in /System/Library/Keychains/ afterwards - if EVRoots.plist, SystemRootCertificates.keychain, and SystemTrustSettings.plist are all dated 23 April 2011, the combo rolled them back - if they're later... it didn't.
Apple do know, since bug reports come back as 'duplicate of...' - but  there's no public info to my knowledge.
How much of a security issue is this? Should I worry about it, or just leave it until they update to fix?
more privacy than real security, I'd say - although there are add-ons to manage cookies.

  • Cannot download PDF files from Internet with Safari.

What must I do (after resetting Safari) to be able to coherently download PDF files from the Internet

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.
