I cannot close Firefox 4.0 by clicking on the close button

I just installed Firefox 4.0. Now I am unable to close the browser by clicking on the close button. I have to power down my computer to close the browser.

Hi, thanks for asking. Actually, nothing happens when I click on the close button. I can just keep clicking away and the browser stays open. The same thing happens if I try to close my browser from the task bar. There is no message behind the browser window. A very odd thing but it makes Firefox 4.0 nearly unuseable for me since I have to either reboot my computer or shut it down to close the browser.

None of the stuff in " http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locked_or_damaged_places.sqlite " helps. I have tried and tried and I have even wipe the computer clean still didn't help. I got the same problem as he/she has got in the first posted. Can add some web pages but not all the web pages I want.. I should have never updated to 3.6.13... That's when it all started for me, from that version..... Now Version 3.6.14 is out, I was hoping the version 3.6.14 might would fix the problem wrong again....
Funny thing is i can not even Bookmark Firefox.com!!!!!...lol
So any ideas on how to fix it other than the link giving would help.

Older versions of Firefox allowed me to click on the "back" button and see the list of pages where I had been in that tab. You took that away or you hid it. If you hid it, where did it go? If you took it away, bring it back.

The arrow to open the tab history of the Back and Forward buttons has been removed in Firefox 4.
Use one of these methods to open the tab history list:
* Right click on the Back or Forward button
* Hold down the left mouse button on the enabled Back or Forward button until the list opens

When I click on the Home button, I get a message saying "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded????????"

When I first turn on Firefox, I only get a blank "new tab". It does not go to the Firefox Home Page. I did a search on this error code (c0000005) and there seems to be a workaround but no solutions, why is this? I ask that because this problem seems to be years and years old, going back to at least 2005 (do the math that is 10 years).
I don't even have the Camera hooked up and I get this error on download. I redownloaded everything and reinstalled. I allso saw the AVI issues reported with this proble so i updated Quicktime though without the camera being hooked up when I get this error I didn't expect that to work. I finally found that it was missing a picture so the Catalog was "corrupted". I just deleted the picture and it started working.

When I click on firefox to open in my Mac, an error shows up: plug-in object Type error: id is undefined. When I click on the OK button, firefox opens. This never happened in FF 3. What is this?

Also when I am in a site, such as an account, and click on a highlighted link, I get another error, {Javascript Application] can't create mcafee plug-in object: Type Error: components. classes [cid] is undefined. The only mcafee I had on my computer was the secure search and I uninstalled it, but I still get this message. When I click on the OK button with the error message, then the link opens up.

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

Swiping up from the bottom of the screen with four fingers did not bring up the app preview. A single press on the home button still brings me back to the home screen, but a double press of the home button does nothing following updating to 7.1 Given that, when I added a software home button as suggested by DIAVONEX, I found that all of the apps WERE still open! So thank you DIAVONEX, and you should be careful, bobseufert, as your information was inaccurate.( I did try turning it off and that didn't change anything. ) I don't really want a software home button on my screen, but I guess I will use it until either there is another update to resolve this glitch or someone else identifies a quirky setting that I inadvertently activated...

Sometimes your security software will block new programs from accessing the internet. Are you getting any alerts along those lines?
Sometimes Firefox will stall during startup and never display its window. In that case, you may need to manually "kill" the firefox.exe process using the Windows Task Manager before trying to start Firefox again.
You can display the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Esc. Windows 8.1 has a different display than Windows 7, so I have to go by memory. If you see a tab named Applications, check that one first. Then check Processes, and finally check Details. If you find Firefox or firefox.exe on any of those tabs, select it and End Process (or other action to shut it down).
After you are done with the Task Manager, try starting Firefox up again.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
