Typically this indicates a device that has been hacked to be unlocked or jailbroken.
If that is the case, no support can be provided here.

i live in iran. this 3gs was a gift from america .. it contains NOTHING. i can do nothing with it. it cannot be updated cuz the version is low. i dunno what t do please help.Possible causes:
1. Your antivirus is blocking access to gs.apple.com.
2. Your phone is jailbroken.
3. Your computer has been used at some time in the past to jaibreak some iOS device (not necessarily the phone with the problem), and its network database was corrupted by the hacking software that was used.
4. Apple's activation servers are down (very rare, and never for more than an hour or so).
5. The phone was reported stolen. If it was it can never be activated again.
For 1. try disabling your antivirus.
For 2. & 3. you need to go somewhere other than an apple forum for help. Although you can try deleting lines containing gs.apple.com from your "hosts" file on your computer. -

I have same message. Just tried the update yesterday. Phone NOT jail broke and my SIM card has been init since I bought it. I need my phone and information ASAP. Is backed up on comp but can't get to without phone! During update my laptop shut off. Problem started after I started it back up to finish the process. Why would that make a diff? What to do now???? Help!

I can not activate my iphone 3gs after updating to ios 6.0.01. I tried connecting to the activating server by wifi and itune. Keep getting the same message"your iphone could not be activated because the activiation server is temporary unavailable". It could not read my Rogers iccid. I try to restore my phone on itune but it does not have the "restore" icon. Please help.

2 errors: "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable" and the sim says "searching" while iTunes says there is "No Sim installed" - but of course, there is! Any help please??

Thank you for the note - I have seen similar replies on other posting errors and I see how that could make sense. The thing is, my iPhone is not jailbroken - it is from an authorized distributor. However, when I told them about the "no service" problem on the sim, they were unable to assist. Then my phone messaged that an itunes restore was required - so I did that, several times, to the error message now noted on my post. I wonder if there is some other way to over-write this message? Thanks very much. -

well I restored my iPhone and I try to activate it just with my iPhone and it said your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temorarily unavailable. So I tried doing it on iTunes and it said SIM card not installed help me please.

Where exactly did you get this phone?
Do you have a SIM in the phone?
There are 2 primary causes for this.
Either you don't have a SIM in the phone, which is REQUIRED to activate it, or the phone was hacked to unlock it. -

Windows 8.1 Mail app limitation
I can't send more then 3 or 4 pictures (1MB each) with the Windows Mail app. Tested with gmail account and company Exchange account. Is this a limitation of this app? I can't find it with dr. Google ;-)
