I cannot connect to mac appstore on Macbook pro 10.6.8

I have been having a ongoing problem now for a while in which the appstore on my macbookpro will not conncet, i have read through endless 'fix' options through the support community and none have worked so far, my itunes and laptop are up to date. I can open itunes and connect to the itunes store fine but when i click on the appstore icon it opens up and then immediately displays "connecting to appstore, please wait a moment" this proceeds to be the case until i give up and close the application. It is frustrating as I would like to update my computer to mountain lion. I have tried the combo download to no avail. I would greatly appreciate any help on this matter to rectify problem asap. thanks.

I think there is a good chance we can solve this after doing a bit of troubleshooting. Was this always like this, or just for a while?
There is a very high chance this is happening due to anti-virus & firewall software. Are you running any kind of junk like Norton or Little Snitch? Let's start here...

    Hi
I click on app store and get this message "cannot connect to app store"
i tried reinstalling 10.6.8 combo and still not working.
Any ideas on how to solve this?

If you have anti virus software installed, disable that.
Try turning off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security.
    Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.appstore
Move the Cache.db file from the com.appstore folder to the Trash.
Restart your Mac, try the App Store

  • Connecting Both Mac Mini and MacBook Pro to single LED display

Is it possible to dock two mac computers to the same monitor, and have the ability to switch between each computer on the fly?
I am trying to dock both a MacBook Pro and a Mac Mini to the same 24" Apple LED display. I would like it to be as close to a "switch" solution as possible, where it takes only a single button push to change between which computer is being displayed on the monitor. I am used to a PC, where I can hook two computers up to the same monitor, and change the input in the monitor to switch between the two computers that are hooked up to it.
Since there are not any buttons on my monitor, and I am not used to Mac's yet, I am not sure how to easily switch? I was told I could do it when I bought it, but now the help desk is closed....

I was hoping there was a better option. I have the wireless keyboard and mouse, and the two computers. I doubt there is a way to switch the wireless keyboard/mouse without disabling and reconnecting the bluetooth connection (and I really do not think there is a KVM switch for bluetooth devices yet)...
That being said, I was hoping to continue to control the laptop with the laptop keyboard, and the mini with the wireless devices, and NOT go the KVM switch route... I was hoping there was a way to have the mini and the macbook both connected, and either push a button or access a menu to switch between the two...
So am I hearing that this is not a viable option? I need to invest in a potentially expensive KVM switch, or run one of the two computers remotely from the other?
The reason I am frustrated is that I was told when making the purchase that it was very much possible (by multiple employees over the phone and in store). I was also told by the tech people over the phone that everything I needed to do so would be in the box (no extra cables or anything needing purchase).

  • HDR-HC7 Sony Handicam Cannot Connect To iMovie On My MacBook Pro 17"?

    Hi
It used to work but when things got upgarded along the way, the HDR-HC7 Sony Handicam is now unable to connect to the MacBook Pro. Not even in camera mode or playback mode. I have both iMovie HD and iMovie 09. Both too do not connect to the camera. Not even DV 100 mode. What seems to be the problem? Any help is very much appreciated. Thank you.

I have the same problem! - I have an older Sony that works fine but I recently upgraded to a HD Sony camera (HDR-XR520VE) an zilch! - Does anyone know of another program/way or what hardware I can buy so I can utilise my Mac HD storage & editing?? Does anyone at Apple have any suggestions??

  • Cannot Connect to iTunes Store on Macbook Pro

After recently updating to iTunes 11, I have become unable to connect to the iTunes store. I have tried everything in the FAQ suggestions thus far but, I am still unable to get it to connect.
A couple of things to note:
    1. My iPhone 4 and iPad 2 on the same internet connection can connect to the iTunes store, which should rule out any ISP issues.
    2. The computer in question is a mid 2010 Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion OSX 10.8.2.
    3. The same computer can connect to the App Store and make purchases without any issues. Prior to the update I had no issues with the iTunes store.
    4. I tried Keychain First Aid, it found no error.
    5. I tired Permissions First Aid, also no errors.
    6. I reset the network settings numerous times and I am running it in the administrator's account.
Pretty much exhausted everything I could think of and I very much want to download some purchases I made on my iPad to my computer.

Restart the router. Wait until all the lights are lit up properly.
    Restart the computer.
    Start up in Safe Mode.

  • Cannot connect to business server w/ macbook pro (mountain lion)

Hello.  I am having a problem with connecting my mac (running mountain lion) to a server used by my law firm.  I can access the server on the PC they provided me via ethernet cable.  It finds the server no problem.  However, when I plug the cable into my mac, it can't locate the server.  I've tried typing in the filepath for the server, but it still can't find it.  Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi Carolyn,
Thanks but I have been trying this for the last 24 hours...I have even reset my mail password, deleted and recreated the account, and still nothing.
But on my iphone it is working fine...and when I had to change the password to match the above, it immediatley worked fine again.
    Very frustrating! ..
    Any more ideas?
    Thanks

  • Cannot connect from Mac Pro late 2013 to Macbook Pro

Cannot connect from Mac Pro late 2013 to Macbook Pro . I have tried via ethernet and wifi. I can connect from the MBP to the Mac Pro but not vice versa. I have tried to connect to other MBP's on the same network with no luck. I try and connect as a registered user, as I usually do, with no luck. When I enter the Username and then Password the box vibrates as if the details are incorrect, they are not however.
    Thanks in advance
    Jeff

It is 'just not working' again.
To answer you question. Other sharing services work. I can connect as a guest. I can share screens. I cannot air drop.
I cannot connect either way now i.e. from Mac Pro to MBP and vice versa.
I cannot connect to my wife MBP either. My wife cannot connect to my Mac Pro.
It neither works with wifi or ethernet cable.
I can connect to my Time Capsule directly and Time Machine backups are working.
    The passwords are 100% correct.
The Mac Pro is a late 2013. Does anyone else have a similar problem? I have never suffered this one before. Seriously effecting my workflow
    Thanks

It sounds like you are wanting to use your iMac as a secondary display for your MacBook Pro using a Thunderbolt cable. If your iMac is compatible, you may be able to use Target Display Mode, and this article outlines the requirements for it:

  • I cannot print in color from my MacBook Pro

I cannot print in color from my MacBook Pro to my hpdeskjet 6122

    hi FalconMom,
EWS stands for Embedded Web Server.  You will be able to access the printer EWS if it is connected to the same network as your PC or notebook.  Here are the instructions to connect to EWS.
    Open the embedded Web server
You can access the embedded Web server via either the network or Wi-Fi Direct.
To open the embedded Web server via network
NOTE: The printer must be on a network and must have an IP address. The IP address for the
printer can be found by pressing the Wireless icon or by printing a network configuration page.
In a supported Web browser on your computer, type the IP address or hostname that has been assigned to the printer.   For example, if the IP address is 192.168.0.12, type the following address into a Web browser:
    http://192.168.0.12.
To open the embedded Web server using Wi-Fi Direct
From the Home screen, touch (Wireless) and then touch (Settings).
If the display shows that Wi-Fi Direct is Off, touch Wi-Fi Direct and then switch it on.
From your wireless computer, turn wireless on, search for and connect to the Wi-Fi Direct name,
for example: DIRECT-**- HP Officejet-5740 (where ** are the unique characters to identify your
printer). Enter the Wi-Fi Direct password when prompted.
In a supported Web browser on your computer, type the following address: http://192.168.223.1.
