I cannot connect to the net through my TC with pppoe
I used to connect to the internet using my TC as a router, connecting via PPPoE using a DSL modem.
While my ISP had a problem with their network, the TC stop connecting to the PPPoE host and the amber light kept blinking. Because this was taking too long, I decided to investigate this issue.
I tried connecting my laptop directly to the modem, the restored my original configuration.
My MacBook Pro connected via ethernet to the DSL modem, is able to connect to the internet using a PPPoE connection. When I try the same via the TC, it just doesn't connect!
What should I do to troubleshoot this?
Is it possible that it is related to my ISP? Even though the laptop manages to connect via PPPoE.
Even the DSL modem when switched to router functionality is able to connect via PPPoE.
Only the TC seems to fail. What could be the problem?
Even the DSL modem when switched to router functionality is able to connect via PPPoE.
If your modem is acting as a router, you could configure the Time Capsule in Bridge Mode to connect that way. Is that a possibility that you could consider? A potential downside here is that if you have a dual band Time Capsule, the Guest Network feature cannot be enabled when the device is configured in Bridge Mode.

- Power off and then back on your router

i cannot connect to the net using 3G, i have ipad2 16GB, i have tried resetting my ipad2, and resetting the network setting, my location is here in riyadh, everitime i try to connect to the net theres a pop message saying "could not activate cellular data network, please help me guys thanks.....
Thanks for the quick response. No, I did not get any error messages or any terms-of-usage screen. The employee I told my problem to was not computer savvy either. She just suggested I move to different spots w/in the library to see if that would make a difference. It didn't. When I connected to the library WiFi it did change the Verizon 3G that is usually in the upper left corner to iPad with two to three emanating arcs. I may have to go to the library in the next town. I was able to connect to theirs in the past when I had to download something greater than 20 MB. Unless I really want it, I will probably not even try to download something more than 20 MB due to the hassle. Yeah, I may have been better off getting a normal desktop or laptop and getting WiFi at home. To do that now would mean having my iPad 2 and a desktop computer, which I feel is extravagant. (I know there are a lot of big spenders out there who got the iPad as additional gadget for fun. This is a rich country.) A Verizon rep told me I couldn't set up a WiFi router at home just using an iPad. So it seems like a person who just uses 3G is limited to surfing the net (not even much YouTube because it eats a lot of data) and using email. I read about an app that helps print wirelessly using 3G, but a reviewer said you had to be an engineer to get it done right. BTW, I like the Steelers. I'm old enough to remember Franco Harris and that blond guy whose name escapes me back in the '70s. Since I live in North Jersey I feel I have to support the Giants. But I know football about as well as computers.

Hi,
From the 10.1.2 BI Beans Install Guide it says:
OracleBI Beans supports data stored in Oracle9i Enterprise Edition or Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition. However, only particular releases and patchsets are supported:
* Oracle9i Release 2 Enterprise Edition, as follows:
o 9.2.0.6 for all platforms.
o 9.2.0.5 with the latest OLAP patch for Windows-only.
* Oracle Database 10g Release 1 Enterprise Edition with the latest OLAP patch.
From the error message it would appear that the Database is not one of the above.
Thanks,
Lisa

Hi,
Please note that we have follwing versions of DB up and running:-
1)Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.2.0 - Production
With the Partitioning, OLAP and Data Mining options
2)Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.5.0 - Production
With the Partitioning and Real Application Clusters options
JServer Release 9.2.0.5.0 - Production
Pls let us know the solution to resolve this problem ASAP.
Thanks.You are not using a supported version of the database. BI Beans/OLAP only support the following database versions:
10g - 10.1.0.3 with additional OLAP patch
9i - 9205 with additional OLAP patch
9i - 9206
I would suggest that you have not applied all the required database patches to your instance.
Hope this helps

Cannot connect to the net after installation
Hi All:
I tried to install and work with Archlinux today but was not successful at all.
I downloaded the ISO image of archlinux and burnt it to a CD (Archlinux-i686-2007.05-Duke). I tried to install the distro to my Compaq presario 700AP laptop (AMD Duron/128 MB RAM) Installation went smoothly and then the problems began. I coud not get networking to work. Here are the contents of the /etc/rc.conf file (networking section only given here):
<--- contents of /etc/rc.conf ------------->
lo="lo 127.0.0.1"
eth0="eth0 192.168.1.10 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255"
INTERFACES=(lo eth0)
gateway="default gw 192.168.1.1"
ROUTES=(gateway) ......................."I removed the ! sign to activate the gateway"
<-------/contents ------>
<--------- contents of /etc/resolv.conf ------------>
and in the /etc/resolv.conf, I have
nameserver 208.67.222.222
nameserver 208.67.220.220
search opendns.com
I typed opendns.com since I have these dns addresses from opendns.
<-------------
When I ping my nameserver (208.67.222.222), it puts out several lines of messages like:
64 bytes from 208.67.222.222: icmp_seq=55 ttl=252 time=284 ms
Likewise, when I ping default gateway, I get several lines of messages like:
64 bytes from 192.168.1.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=128 time=1.62 ms
Yet I cannot ping google (http://www.google.com), and the error message is: "unknown host", nor can I use pacman to update packages from online repositories.
What am I doing wrong? I have followed the networking guidelines and installation guidelines from the websites.
Do I reinstall archlinux? I am lost.
Best wishes,
/ArinThanks for the advice, but I still am not successful and I cannot figure out why.
Dear All:
Thanks for all your responses, but I still cannot connect to the Internet and this is a strange problem.
I use a broadband connection, provided by India's BSNL broadband service, using an external modem (Huawei Corporation; SmartAx MT882). The internet service has provided me the following information:
IP Address: 192.168.1.10
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS servers: 218.248.255.145
DNS server(2): 61.1.96.71
In addition, I use opendns and the dns server names are:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Here are the contents of my /etc/rc.conf (networking section):
HOSTNAME="maurine"
Io="Io 127.0.0.1"
eth0="eth0 192.168.1.10 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255"
INTERFACES=(Io eth0)
gateway="default gw 192.168.1.1"
ROUTES=(gateway)
Contents of my /etc/resolv.conf
search maurine.com
nameserver 218.248.255.145
nameserver 61.1.96.71
nameserver 208.67.222.222
nameserver 208.67.220.220
If I try using pppoe -I eth0, it waits for some time and then returns a message "timeout waiting for PADO packets"
If I "try /etc/rc.d/adsl start", it returns [FAIL] after some time.
This has never been a problem with my ubuntu or windows installations before, I could easily connect to the web.
What should I do to make sure I can connect to the Internet?
When I ping 192.168.1.1, it takes me to my modem page and from there, when I run the diagnostics, it returns everything ok.
Where may be the problem and what do I need to do to resolve this problem?
Thanks in advance,

Firefox 5 does not work, it cannot connect to the net
I have tried two times to install Firefox 5, but it does not work, it cannot find the net at all. It tells (in Finnish) "Muodostetaan yhteyttä" ("Creating the connection" or something like that in English) and it stops to that point of installation when there should come your Mozilla page up. I am using Win 7 Ultimate and F-Secure Client Security. Luckily it is possilble to install back the version 4.0.1. At my laptop with Win XP there is no problem with version 5.
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

VNCing a Mac Connected to the Net through an iBook's Internet Sharing?
I have a B&W G3 connected to the internet via an iBook's ethernet port. It can VNC into the B&W G3, but on my local network no other computer can. Is there a way of making the B&W G3 accessible to every computer on the local network?
Not really. You should get a real router, instead of using the iBook internet sharing.
The problem is that your B&W G3 is on a totally different subnet private from everything else. All the typical descovery protocols will not cross a subnet boundary, so only the iBook has access to the B&W G3.
If ou get a real router (they are dirt cheap), and have everyone going though the same router, then everyone should see everyone else.
If the reason for using the iBook is to act as a WiFi range extender, then get a dedicated range extender, or get a pair of PowerLine Ethernet Adaptor that will route ethernet signals through you home electrical wiring. -
Trying to connect to the net through Ethernet
Here's my situation:
I have a LAN using Sitecome Homeplugs, which create a network using the existing electricity network: from the modem runs a wire to one Homeplug unit (which is plugged into the wall socket), and two of my computers (both Windows XP) are connected to their own Homeplug units. At first it didn't work, but then I set the LAN setting for those two to Automatically assign IP-address. That's all there was to it.
Now I'm trying to do the same thing on my iMac. I have my unit plugged into the socket, the cable plugged into the Ethernet port. In the Network Status it says: "Built-in Ethernet is currently active. Built-inEthernet has a self-assigned IP-address and may not be able to connect to the internet." How do I set this up? I've looked everywhere but I couldn't find anything.
P.S.: I used to connect through a wireless Airport network. Might that have anything to do with it? (Like past settings?)Yes it is, very perceptive.

Cannot connect to the internet through my Airport Card, while in Windows 7
Alright, so I wasn't sure how best to give a topic heading for this, but i think thats the jist of it. Basically I have Windows 7 on hard drive and am able to boot up my Macbook Pro (Early January 2011). Everything seems to run the right way, however I am unable to figure out what is causing the Windows 7 to either not recognize or not connect to my wireless network in my house. It is passworded and everything, however nothing I tried would work and allow access to the internet to my Windows 7.
I've read over some things online, and tried to figure out if there was some driver or something that I was missing that needed to be there, however I couldn't seem to find any answer to the problem. When I go to configure the network connecting and such, I get a message saying that apparently the hardware or something is missing, however I am unsure how or where I can go to get the info or not.
I'm guessing that using Bootcamp to install Windows 7 is probably the actual way I'm meant to do this, however I'm trying not to have to partition the computer, though I fear I may have to. Basically what I've done is booted up my computer from the Windows 7 install disc, and used it, like you would a Mac OS disc, to reformat my internal hard drive into working with Windows 7. This is probably an unorthodox method, but my dad had looked up that I couldn't install Windows 7 onto my external disk, and that this would be the alternative to have a more 'native' Windows running, rather than having to use Bootcamp.
My questions to you guys out there, are:
Should I reformat/reinstall Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard, and simply use bootcamp and its utilities and such to run Windows 7 through my computer? OR is there something I'm missing that I needed to download to allow Windows 7 to recognize my Airport Card, or whatever is needed to access the Internet.Try clearing your cache and cookies.

hello
I have a problem with xserver. Everything seems to be working ok, however, one day system started to break down.
I cannot connect to the server through *screen sharing* neither through internet, nor through local net. Even after restart login wont shows up.
I cannot also connet to the *Server Preferences* (Unable to authenticate to the Open Directory master.)
Sometimes I cannot also connect to the *Server Admin* (but after restart it works, however, Server Preferences are unavailable).
SSH works ok.
Nor repair permission, neither verify disk, or update for OS X server 10.6.4 worked.
