I cannot convert my file

just paid for this adobe acrobat converter, and when i tried to convert a simple word txt file to acrobat file or whatever, it said it couldnt' do it and i needed to go to the windows printer pdf page?  i dont know what that means and i'm annoyed that a simple task (txt to PDF) that was promised by the software is not accomplishable.

Hi,
Thank you for your subscription and I apologize for your bad experience you had to go through.
I assume from your description that the printer is Adobe CreatePDF desktop printer.  When users cannot convert some files to PDF we suggest user to download the CreatePDF desktop printer to  your local computer.  When the printer is used from application (such as MS Office, WordPad..) the resultant PDF file will be stored at https://files.acrobat.com then you can download the file.
Please see more information about the desktop printer at "Adobe CreatePDF desktop application" section of http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat-com/kb/using-createpdf.html
Please send me your file if possible so that I can look into the prolem why you could not convert it to PDF.
To send your file to us, please use below site.

Cannot convert .tif file to .pdf in IE when I have an Abode Reader window open.
I have a .pdf file open in Adobe Reader that is on my works P:/ drive. Then I open a .tif file from a website in Windows Phone and Fax Viewer and  Right click it and select "Convert to Adobe PDF".  I get the following message
Adobe Reader could not open "filename.tif" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has not been damaged (For example, it was sent as a an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
I have a work around for this.  Simply closing the Adobe Reader that was previously opened and the attempting to "Convert to Adobe PDF" will then work properly.  Was wondering if there was a fix to this issue beacuse it is frustrating to always have to close my other .pdf files to do this action.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Currently the upgrade to Snow Leopard (DVD in the box) is $29 US Cy from Apple:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDAzOA
Contrary to what it says there, that is all you need.  You DO NOT need to upgrade to Leopard first.  You can go straight from Tiger 10.4.11 to Snow Leopard for $29.
CS4 will cease to be upgradeable towards the end of this year, perhaps as early as November of 2012.
The superior rendering in ACR 7.1 is more than worth the cost of the upgrade.  You could even say that converting one irreplaceable raw image is worth the total cost.

Try Easy Find first, it's totally free, although Find Any File is indeed faster.

Finally if you still can't get DNG Converter 7.1 to launch, then download version 6.4, but nothing earlier than 6.4:

  • CS6 Cannot Convert PM Files but CS5.5 Can

    Hello,
I have just purchased CS6 (I need this version since I have to convert many PageMaker files). I was able to convert some PM files which do not have many graphics, but for those which has several graphics, CS6 cannot convert them. The "Processing Stories" window appeared but became non-responsive and I have to force CS6 to quit with the Task Manager.
However, If I use CS5.5 (I installed the CS5.5 Trial version before I purchased CS6), I was able to convert ALL PM files without any problems, no matter how many graphics are in the documents.
Does anyone know why CS6 couldn't convert but CS5.5 can?
As of now, I have to use CS5.5 to convert the PM files, then export them into IDMLs, then open them in CS6. But my CS5.5 Trial will expire in about 20 days, after that, I don't think I can use it anymore.
So I would really like to solve the CS6 issues before my CS5.5 Trial expires.
    Any comments/suggestions are much appreciated.
    Thank you.
PS:  I have emptied the InDesign Recovery folder whenever CS6 crashed.

    Hi Peter,
Yes, that's what I am planning to do. I just thought maybe someone might have the same issues as mine and can shed some light on how to fix it.
I wish Adobe will let me use the License number for CS6 with CS5.5 also. But I found out that you cannot. I guess that's how Adobe make a profit. Every time you upgrade to a different version, you have to buy another license.
    Thank you.

  • Cannot convert pdf file to Word using Adobe ExportPDF online...I get a timeout error after a wait of about 15 minutes

Oh...BTW...I am using Windows 7 with Chrome browser and I disabled text recognition.  The file is 3.7 MB.  It says it failed because it is taking too long to process however the Adobe export PDF notes that it can convert unlimited files to Word or Excel files.  Anything else I can try?  I exported it to Adobe.com and tried toconvert it there but it looks like the same process...and with the same result.

    Hi there,
It sounds like there may be an issue with the quality of the PDF. Not all PDFs are created equal, and especially those created from scanned documents can be problematic if the scan quality isn't the best. Is there a dark background on the PDF, or stray marks or smudges?
You can try converting with OCR disabled at outlined in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (O... | Adobe Community. But, while that's a good test to find out where the problem lies, you'll end up with a Word document that isn't editable, so it's not an optimal solution.
Please let us know how it goes.

  • ITunes cannot convert WMA files?

I recently purchased the new Ice Cube CD, and included was a code for two digital downloads. I got the downloads as WMA files, and when I tried dragging them into iTunes to be converted, a window appeared saying that it could not convert the files because they are "protected WMA files". Any way around this?

    Hello,
There is no legal way around this, and you won't be seeing iTunes convert protected WMA anytime soon without a partnership with the original content provider (again, unlikely)
    Sorry

So your camera has a hard drive? If you had your footage on an SD card, I would have suggested to use it with a card reader, but with a hard drive, you don't have a choice. Are you talking about editing while shooting?  I don't know of any software to edit the footage until after you've imported it - maybe someone else does.
As an additional thought to your original post - which I just re-read and realized you mentioned the "private" file; there was just another thread with a similar problem because of the AVCHD files - you might want to check that:

  • I can not open adobe files. mainly ones that end in doc. I purchased the 19.99 to convert .doc files

I can not open adobe files that end in .doc. I purchased the 19.99 to convert doc to pdf and I still cant open. I get an error reading.

    Hi,
Which Adobe Service did you purchased?
If you have purchased CreatePDF please visit: https://createpdf.acrobat.com/SignIn.html
Sign in with your Adobe ID and password, and then convert your word doc into PDF.
Please let me know if that works.
If you have Adobe Reader, you cannot convert .doc file to .PDF by drag and drop.

  • I am unable to convert certain files to pdf with Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional

I am unable to convert Word & PowerPoint files to pdf.  (I am able to convert image files & excel)
I have enable macros in Word and still cannot convert the file.
I am getting the error popup:
    Unable to open the document
Please check to see if you have read permission for the above file
    I am running:
Windows XP Professional Ver 2002 SP 3
    Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional
    Microsoft Office 2007

Open the document in WORD or PPT and print to the Adobe PDF printer. With PPT, you will have to select the fill page option. You may also be able to use PDF Maker in WORD or PPT. From your post I am assuming you are trying to open directly in Acrobat and all of these other things have to be working properly before the latter will work. If they work and you still can not open directly in Acrobat, then try a repair on Acrobat.

  • Converting document files of more than 100 Mb?

Is it true that you cannot convert document files with more than 100 Mb to PDFs because of that limit on Adobe CreatePDF?
Is there a way of solving this problem e.g. document files with 285 Mb?

have you tried compressing the images in the original document?  You can probably compress to 200 dpi if they are only for printing.

    Hey vcomfort6,
Please ensure that you are using Adobe Acrobat and not Reader to convert PDF file to word or excel.
Could you tell me whether it is a scanned document? Does this happen with all PDFs or any specific one?
Do you get any error message? What exactly happens when you try doing the same?
    Hope to hear from you.
