Recent versions of Tunnelblick include a button to "Open Uninstall Instructions in Browser", so that's the best way to start, however, babowa's advice to "check their website" was good:

The advice to drag it to the Trash was not so good, however.
Tunnelblick is a complex application that places files in several (OS X standard) locations on your hard drive, and to uninstall it completely you need to use the directions at that link. Just dragging it to the Trash may fail for any of several reasons, depending on how the program has been set up. Usually it is because the OpenVPN part of the program may be in use, even when the program itself is not running. (Tunnelblick is a GUI for OpenVPN and includes a copy of OpenVPN inside of the Tunnelblick application.)
If you have a "damaged" installation of Tunnelblick (which you do, because of the partial installation), the procedure is to first re-install the application and then uninstall. (The re-install is needed so the uninstaller is sure to have all the info needed to uninstall.) Because Tunnelblick is open source and free software, there are copies of Tunnelblick that have been "rebranded" with other names or internal identifiers; the uninstaller can uninstall those, too, but you need to re-install the rebranded version if it has been damaged.
Please read and follow the uninstall instructions carefully.

Personal Backup X3 - cannot delete this application
Hi,
My MacBook came with a file backup application called 'Personal Backup X3 which was set to save system files et al every 24 hrs at 8pm. When I installed Time Machine this app became redundant and I dragged the folder to the Trash bin. However, the application still runs and annoyingly I get reminder every day at 8pm that I cannot find the appropriate folder into which to save the files.
I have done a search thru' Finder and the Applications folder specifically to try and find any remaining elements of the Personal Backup X3 files/software, but to completely no avail.
Any ideas please.

Double click the .dmg icon. That will open the Uninstaller for you. A window will open titled:
/Volumes/Intego Uninsatller Click Open when you see the dialog box. A dialog box will open, if any of the Personal Backcup X3 files are still on the drive, they will be listed in the box. Just select them and click uninstall.

Okay so you are trying to install iTunes on your PC, but it wont install? I had a similar problem with one of my computers the other day. Try Updating windows. As soon as I updated windows it worked. So try that.

i am having problems opening iTunes! ever since I updated to 10.5.3ver, I cannot open the application. I have deleted iTunes and all associated apps (bonjour, Cloud, Apple support apps, etc) and still something is wrong. I cant find it anywhere; where did it go? I accidentally deleted an Application on my iphone 5 and with it lost important files. How do i get back these files. The last iphone backup sync was after this so I cant even access an older back up as I cannot find them. How do I get back my Lost files.
On your iMac launch iTunes and at the top next to the Apple symbol click iTunes > Preferences > Devices and tell me what you see. You last sync should be there showing only a device name. If you have an older backup it will be there as well the difference is it will be the device name with a date and time stamp. Sync and backups are two different things and there is a chance iTunes made a backup the first time you hooked up your iPhone 5.

From your description, the issue might be caused by orphan items in sitemap.
Please execute command below to check IDs and site map status for all site collections and subsites in the issue content database:
stsadm -o enumallwebs -databasename <database name>
Then use the command below to delete orphan sites:
stsadm -o deletesite -force -siteid <siteid> -databaseserver <database server name> -databasename <database name>
Now run IISReset and try delete web application via:
Remove-SPWebApplication - identity http://sitename

I ended up deleting iMovie from launchpad and now i cannot reinstall the application
How do I get the application back? I've pulled up the application in App Store and clicked on "accept", entered my appleID, and an error message occured telling me that the app had already been purchased and was in my ''purchases'' tab. But when i open the purchases tab it does not show up...
I'm not sure if deleting the application from launchpad affected whether or not i'd be able to redownload the application.

I am unable to delete certain files, but I can delete others. Finder says "The operation cannot be completed because the item...is in use." I have tried:
*Alt+Empty Trash
*Secure delete
*Empty trash from the Terminal
*Repair permissions
*Verify disk
*Various utilities (Trash it!, OnyX, etc.)
*Restart
*Closed all applications
I have noticed that if I try to delete from the Terminal it says "rm: /Users/mymacrules/.Trash/Cannot Delete/nl.lproj: Directory not empty". I also tried to move one file that would not delete from the trash, this file disappears when I click on it, but is there after restart. As long as that specific file is on the desktop it also makes another folder disappear. Even though I can't see it in Finder I can see it with the "ls" command. Any ideas?mymacrules wrote:

Right. The rm command by default will not delete nonempty directories. To force it to, use the recursive flag:
rm -r /Users/mymacrules/.Trash/Cannot Delete/nl.lproj
But keep in mind that I'm just a Unix person...people like Joshz who know MacOS better than me may know good reasons to not use the Terminal to try to empty the trash. -
Hello. I installed MAMP (www.mamp.info), which lets you run an Apache/MySQL from osx. I decided I didn't want it though and used AppZapper to delete it. Unfortunately though it won't let me get rid of it, and says that a "logs" file is currently in use, but will continue to delete everything else. I'm at work right now, but off the top of my head what's left in the folder is something that looks like:
MAMP > Library > Logs > cgisock.(extention)
I've looked through preference, cache, and other such folders to see if anything MAMP related was there but I couldn't find anything.
I was also considering just doing an upgrade install for Leopard when I get it, but if something's wrong with the system because of this I might just do a fresh install.
Just wondering if anyone knew what to do about this. Sorry, this is probably in the wrong forum but it seemed to be the best choice. I posted on the MAMP forums but couldn't get an answer.

rrSometimes it happens that the Finder just doesn't want to empty the trash anymore and says "The operation cannot be completed because the item is "in use.". That's a good warning if it is true, but sometimes you want to get rid of an application and this warning appears even though the only thing running is the Finder. Usually after a restart you can delete it. But that is very time consuming and even then, it is sometimes still stuck not wanting to be deleted. There is a risky command that can be used in the Terminal that will empty the trash no matter what. Risky because a simple error in the syntax could erase a lot of stuff that you want to keep.
There is a much easier and quicker way of forcing the Finder to empty the trash no matter what! It is done in the freeware customization and maintenance application OnyX (download @ http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs/english.html ). Once you loaded OnyX and entered your administrator password, choose "Cleaning" in the top bar. Click on the "Trash" tab. You can now choose whether you want to "Delete" or to "Securely Delete" (by overwriting) and click Execute. That's it, it will force the Finder to empty the trash even if the files are in use!

WE have an application. This application processes a list of files in a directory. Once it has processed, it is deleted. We are using the File.delete() API to delete the file. This application works fine on Unix, but when run on Windows, the delete method returns false status. It cannot delete the file and neither does it throw the exception. Is there any way to find out why this delete is failing. We have no clue.

Once again, note that it is the explicit close() of the file writer that matters here, not running System.gc(). Relying on garbage collector is a sign of very immature implementation and unprofessional programming style. Java programmers need to be as careful about releasing resources as C/C++ programmers -- just because the heap memory is handled for you automatically does not mean you could ignore file handles, temp files, socket handles, etc.
The example applies to Windows. Explicitly closing file handles is equally important on UNIX as well. For example, failure to do so and relying on GC may cause a JVM process to run out of file handles very quickly [default max is ~20 on Solaris unless you explicitly increase the soft porcess limits].

Cannot delete users from the Central Management Console
I cannot delete users from the Central Management Console. I'm logged in to Enterprise as administrator but still get the following error:

Check top level:
Logon to CMC, browse to Home > Settings and select the Rights tab. These are your top level settings. Factory default will show only Administrators and Everyone. Select the Net Access "Advanced" for the Administrators group. NB: Do not select these group names links - they will jump you out of the top level! On the Advanced rights page, ensure the right to "Delete objects" is explicitly granted.
Then set for the Users top level folder:
In the CMC, browse to Home, and select Users. Select the "Rights" button. Again - NB: Do not select these group names links - they will jump you out of the Users top level folder! Set the Administrators group to "Full Control". Save.
That should be all you need. However, there is a possibility the previous admin was busy setting security not only at the account level, but on groups so we need to verify the user:
In the CMC, browse to Home, and select Users. In the User list, select koberg. In the koberg account page, select the Rights tab. If the Administrators is not set to (Inherited Rights), make it so, and when you select the "Update" button, you should see the Net Access update to "Full Control". If this is the case, you should follow these steps on each account and accomplish this.
And if you still can't delete it, verify the groups:
In the CMC, browse to Home, and select Users. In the User list, select koberg. In the koberg account page, select the "Member of" tab. Note all groups koberg is a member of. Then in the CMC, browse to Home, and select Groups. Select the name hyperlink for the group(s) that koberg belongs to. On the group page, select the Rights tab, and ensure the Administrators have (Inherited Rights) - Full Control on all of these, also. If not, set it.
Finally, I know you inherited this, but let's overview some basics of simplifying your deployment administration. Follow these guidelines, and your administration life will be so much easier.
1. The Everyone group should never have any subgroups. Ever. All accounts on the system are a member of the Everyone group. Adding subgroups to the Everyone group is redundant.
2. For simplicity's sake, Application level access should be set on the Adminstrators Group, and the Everyone group. I know there are customers who add groups to application rights. I don't understand why users would have an account on the system if they are not allowed access to InfoView, but it's your system.
3. From a report object perspective, the Everyone group should be set at the top level to "No Access". This will result in them having no rights on anything at all. You break this inheritance at the application level to give them access to InfoView and other apps. On folders and objects, you ADD groups, then assign (ADD) rights as desired.
4. If you can help it, never explicitly deny a right to any user or group for any object or application. Explicitly deny overrides any other setting. If a user belongs to group A and group B, and group A is explicitly denied a right, you can explicitly grant it for group B or the user all day long, and it will still be denied. Always try to put yourself in the position of adding groups/users, and adding rights, then inheriting as far down the folder tree as you can.
