If this is indeed the first time that you have used your Apple ID in the iTunes or App store you do need to have a payment method the first time you set it up:
Create an iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store account without a credit card or other payment method
If you've already created your Apple ID, you'll need to add a payment method when you first use it to sign in to the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store. But you can optionally remove the payment methodafter you sign in to the store. You won't be asked for a payment method again until you make your first purchase.

I am unable to download Mountain Lion from the App Store, I keep getting an error every time I try to purchase the app, I have been trying for a week but no luck.

My current opperating system is Lion, which has been updated from Snow Leopard.Yes, my Imac is a 2010 model, and I have checked the requirements, they are all fine.

I'm downloading a game from the app store, when it was finished the file was damaged/corrupt...
I am downloading Empire: Total War from the App Store, it's a 12gb download, I have it hooked up to wired internet and let it go all night downloading. When it was finished I went to install the game and when I clicked on it it said something about "damaged file" or "corrupt" and "please re-download from the app store"
I really don't want to spend another 12 hours downloading this giant game. Any advice or suggestions as to why it happened?There are apps like OmniSweeper or DaisyDisk that you can use to scan your drive, they may be able to help you find out where all your space is being used:

you need to enter your apple id and you will see two options verify your date of birth OR Email Authentcation (That mean you have to option to option to reset your apple id and password either you can verify your date of birth and security questions, If you forgot your security question you can simply select Email option, you will recive one email from apple just click on the link and enter your new Password) -
I was really dissapointed when i found out that we can only download from the sa app strore . The selection of apps in sa is really poor and we cant even download any games ... I know that there is a way around it but it conflicts with the term of use. When will we have acces to a wider selection of apps as i am really ****** that we cant get any games in sa ... So your Mac is running v10.7.3 or later? Just making sure. Your profile indicates the iOS 5.1.1 ...
If you have anti virus software installed, disable that.
Make sure there's enough free space on the startup disk since the app is 15.51GB.
Click your Apple menu icon. From the drop down menu click About This Mac then select Storage from the menu.
Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space. -
