I cannot download a movie that I paid for?

I cannot download a movie I paid for, when I go into movies to be downloaded it says there is no purchased movie to download. Why is this?

If I change the formatting, will I lose all of the files already stored? I have other movies on the drive but they are smaller in size.

HT1657 I rented a movie on iTunes but I didn't have enough space on my phone. So I backed up my phone erased my pictures and tried again and now it doesn't show I rented the movie that I paid for.

When I realized I didn't have space I backed up my phone and erased all the pictures on it to make room. When I went in to try to download the rental it wasn't there anymore.

It sounds like you paid for a rental but there was not enough space to download it, and after clearing some space you are unable to download it. If it is not appearing in the Rentals Tab of the Videos app I would check to see if you can resume the download in the iTunes Store app:
If your download was interrupted using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
From the Home screen, tap the iTunes app.
For iPhone or iPod touch, tap More > Downloads. For iPad, tap Downloads.
Enter your account name and password if prompted.
Tap the blue download arrow to resume.

I have a couple of questions. I down loaded a movie when I was not hooked up to wifi or connected to my laptop. I was charged for the movie but I have not been able to down load it or find it anywhere in my account.
Question:
1. Where do I find this movie and how do I get it down loaded to my I Pad?
When I signed in to ask this question I had to go through a lot of sign in problems and also create a user name that is completely different that any of the sing in information that I have used previously. Which create a lot of questions:
1. Why did I have to create a user name that I never had to do before?
2. Will this change the sign in process in the future?
I will appreciate the answers to these questions

yes it could well do if your bank thinks there is something going on that is not from you they will block it. I have had this problem before, I would of thought they would of phoned me but they don't do that.
If I was you I would go to my bank make sure they are not doing anything like that. If they say it's all fine then i would phone up apple them self or go into my local apple store, as they should be able to look at what there servers are saying why it's not working.

It is apparently downloaded but it just sits there as a still picture and does nothing.

Well, it's funny because Itunes is the only one that does this. It has happened before. Neflix works fine. Hulu works fine. But not Apple.

I just want to make sure I have your question correct, you rented a movie on a computer and you want to download it to another computer?
I believe because its a rental you can either stream it to your Apple tv or watch it on the computer you purchased the rental on, I dont think you can download it to another computer but you may be able to watch it on the other computer by homesharing, If you click on the library on the other computer thats in the homesharing section on the left pane it may work to stream it to the other computer to watch but not download
I could be wrong but I think because its a rental it has restrictions

I was having the exact same, irritating, problem. The only way I was able to work around this lovely little quirk was to redeem the code on my iPod touch. I would guess it would also work on any apple touch pad device. I only had to input the code once and it began downloading. I was then able to go back to my iTunes on PC and it began downloading there too.
*Sidenote: Be sure to uncheck the "Download HD when available" option.
I hope this works and helps the rest of you.

You may not be able to get a refund, since the terms of sale for the iTunes Store state that all sales are final. You can contact the iTunes Store, explain the reason for your request, and ask, though:

It's possible they'll make an exception for you, particularly if the problem was on their end preventing the movie from downloading in a reasonable time.

Clear Safari, then force close Safari and finally reset your iPad.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History and Website Data
Now close Safari. In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
