I cannot download anything on my MacBook Pro. (Excluding App Store downloads).

Whenever I try to download something on my 13 inch MacBook Pro the link just freezes and I cannot download it. All downloads I have recently tried have failed, {Skype, Google Chrome}. I have restarted my computer many, many, times but that doesn't seem to help. I would really appreciate if someone could help me out, I would really like to be able to download things again. (Note: I have already checked my disk and I have over 400 GB's of memory left, so that's not the problem).

Also, Apple App Store things work perfectly, it's just online downloads.

Sounds like the the files you've downloaded are for a peecee. Do they have the extension ".exe."? If so, the won't run on your compuer unless you install an emulator program like Parallels or VM Fusionware. YOu can also use BootCamp to partition your drive and install a legal copy of Windows there.
The two things you are trying to use are both noted for making Macs work poorly. Just about any commercial "security" software bogs doem the system so badly that you think you are using a 20- uear-old computer.
Some torrent apps seem to cause problems, and the files available as torrents can contain malware. Be very, very careful.

Troubleshoot help (Macbook pro) with app store and messages app

I believe I am having a problem connecting to the apple servers because many of my apps that connect to the apple servers don't work.
Whenever I open the app store, it loads continously but nothing shows up. No apps open, it stays as a blank page.
Also, when I open the 'messages' app a huge error message immediately pops up and the app doesn't open at all.
However these apps both work when I login to a guest account.
Anybody know what the problem could be? Thank you!

Is your computer authorized in the Store menu in iTunes?
If yes, try to deauthorize and authorize again.

Why won't my macbook pro's app store load?

Whenever I go to update my computer software and I go to the app store, it always has the spinning loading circle in the top left corner and it shows the logo in the middle. Even when I hit the updates button because it shows "1" above it, it does the same exact thing. This has been going on for several weeks, and my computer is running slower because I have not been able to get the new software update, due to the inaccessible app store.

Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
Sometimes the cause of the problem may be an outage in Apple's network, in which case none of the steps below will have any effect. You just have to wait for the outage to be fixed. That should rarely, if ever, take more than a few hours.
Step 1
Sign in to the App Store by selecting Sign In from the Store menu. If you're already signed in, sign out and then sign in again.
Step 2
Log out or restart the computer.
Step 3
Remove or disable "LittleSnitch" or any similar third-party software that blocks outgoing network connections according to the developer's instructions.
Step 4
Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode.)
Step 5
If possible, connect to a different network and test.
Step 6
There are reports that resetting the PRAM may solve the problem in some cases. I can't confirm.

App store download location?

I'm in the process of cleaning up my home iMac and backing up digital files to external drives.
I've brought quite a bit from the itunes store and all these files are kept in the Music>iTunes folder, which I can back which will save me re-downloading it again. As for the App-Store downloads, - where is this download folder located?? I dont want to redownload these big files again!

I wanted this information because I had a problem upgrading iPhoto to 9.4.3 and not even the Genious Bar™ was able to make it update. It was suggested I may need to reinstall Mac OS entirely. If I was going to have to do that, which would take days as I use a lot of large proprietary software implementations such as Adobe Creative Suite which would also have to be deactivated, reinstalled and reactivated, I decided to try to fix it myself. So I checked my Time Machine backup, turned off Time Machine and had a poke around on my disk. I know that Apple prefers we don't look at our filesystems this way, however, it has been maintained in many court decisions that the contents of our hard drives are ours to do with as we please. USE THIS INFORMATION AT YOUR OWN RISK.IT'S MORE LIKELY THAT THIS INFORMATION WILL HELP YOU HELP A TECHNICIAN SOLVE THE PROBLEM THAN FIXING IT YOURSELF WITHOUT A KNOWLEDGE OF BSD AND UNIX.
I know it's been a while, however, there is better information available about App Store download locations, this information should be handled very carefully as you'll be viewing areas of your filesystem that are not considered ‘end-user friendly’.
For instance, I had a problem with my Internet connection and received a corrupted PKG for my iPhoto 9.4.3 update. The update refused to install even after I uninstalled iPhoto and asked it to reinstall.
I viewed my Console when attempting to upgrade iPhoto and saw that it was attempting to access a PKG file called:
mzpsxxxx03867858650xxxx.pkg
from a Console system message entry that looked like:
26/06/13 12:34:39.041 PM App Store[4183]: PKDistributionController: Found asset mzpsxxxx03867858650xxxx.pkg on disk for item 4xxxxxx1 - Size 2xxxxxx2
Upon searching my filesystem with a command in terminal, I discovered that the corrupted PKG file was located at:
/private/var/folders/6x/g122yp5sxxxxxxv149g440000gp/C/com.apple.appstore/40898xx xx/
This location is likely to be referenced by an internal OS database, and I basically just had to hope that removing the file would allow the database to clear the entry and force the PKG file to download again.
I deleted the file and restarted, asked iPhoto to install in the App Store, and everything went smoothly. After 20 or so other attempts, following Apple's support info, and asking colleagues, this was the ONLY solution to the problem without completely reinstalling Mac OS.
It's interesting that we don't find much information about these storage locations or information about solving App Store problems when PKG files get corrupted during transfer or installation, it's likely that Apple scrubs this information from the Apple Support Communities and I'll be curious to see how long this post lasts on the site.

Not sure if that same Application is designed for Mac Os x, Search for Applications on App Store instead of iTunes on your Macbook Pro, as Applications available on iTunes Store on a Macbook is designed to work only on iOS Device like iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and whatever is available on App Store on Mac is designed for Mac Os x.

As mentioned, Apple only makes their iBook reader app for thier mobile devices. And iBooks epub files are DRM locked to iBooks, so you cannot open it in anything but Apple's iBook reader on an iOS mobile device.

- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.

And by the way, this is apparently a common problem and Apple has completely failed to warn in advance or offer a quick straightforward solution - used to be a good company, but it's becoming just another crappy screw-the-consumer corporation.

It would help to know versions here. I'm guessing your update put an older version of something into a place where a newer version of something iTunes put in there existed. Updating an earlier OSX version to 10.6.8 is still only updating to system software that was issued several years ago. If you are running some slightly newer version of iTunes issued subsequent to 10.6.8 and you just updated to 10.6.8 you may have put in an older version of something iTunes uses. Anyway, I'm guessing here until we know exactly what you did.
