Any work you do in Lightroom is in the catalog. It is impossible to use Lightroom without a catalog.
In addition, your photos are filed in a specific location, which is determined when you import the photos (this may be a location you have specified or it may be the default location chosen by Lightroom).
So ... unless you specifically choose to delete your photos, your photos have not been deleted. To find them, open Lightroom and select File->Open Recent and select each catalog shown there until you find the one with your 170 photos.
And now ... a word to the wise: as gvb279 and Keith said, you absolutely need to stop doing whatever it is you are doing and learn the basics of Lightroom. You are clearly in need of such basic understanding. I have just today recieved a brand new iPod Touch 4th generation iPod with the latest update. Everything else on the ipod is working and my computer is able to read the camera fine, but iTunes cannot recognise it - even after restarting and trying different USB ports and cables. There is nothing at all coming up on the device list and iTunes is working as it would if I had no iPod plugged in. Since this is an XP machine, which version of iTunes do you have installed? Is it the latest version?
Have you tried starting iTunes, attach the USB end of the cable, then while holding the home button on the iPod connect the 30-pin connector end of the cable to the iPod...that is the recovery mode but also should make iTunes see the iPod.
If that doesn't work you may need to take the iPod back and have it tested by the genius bar techs to make sure the connector is not bad.

If you are having multiple non-specific issues with your iPhone after a recent update, your best course of action may be to back up any of your content to iTunes, restore the phone to factory settings, then test to see if the issues persist in its default config before bringing back your content from the backup. I've had my Ipad 2 for less than a week and all of a sudden the home button stopped working. Any ideas on what I can do to fix it or should I try to bring back for a replacement?

See if you can do any of these - but you need the home button to try the first one - or you must have multitasking gestures enabled on the iPad in order to try the second one.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit all apps and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If you have multitasking gestures turned on - you can swipe up from the bottom of the screen with four fingers to get to the recents tray.

1 depress home button on one side, place a thin bristled tooth brush underneath if possible and move it around
2 put a tiny drop of alcohol on the edge of the button. Using a rubber push the button and work the alcohol underneath. . Then press home button repeatedly. I wouldnt recommend doing that but if u r desperate...

Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Download and install the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

If it happens again and the reset (home + power buttons) doesn't work, just let the battery drain; you'll know when the screen shuts off. Charge it back up and it should be fine. Frankly, I'm surprised this worked for you. Usually I hear people with this problem say that holding both buttons doesn't work, and they have to do the battery drain.
If the issue is incurable next time, you have a one-year warranty from the date of purchase.

On the MBP, in iTunes, switch to Song view and enable the iCloud Status column by pulling down View > View options and selecting the option for "iCloud Status." Close the small window. Look for any tracks that have a status of "waiting." If you see several of them disable iTunes Match while holding down the Option key. Quit iTunes, wait a few seconds, then open it again and turn iTM back on. Let it compelete the scan. Wait until all tracks that are "waiting" have a status of either "matched" or "uploaded."
On the iPad, turn off iTunes Match then launch the Music app and let the contents clear out. Power cycle the iPad for good measure, then re-enable the service once all the tracks in iTunes have been processed.

You can download Firefox for the Mac, place the download on a USB thumb drive stick it into the Mac and copy it, run the installer.
Once FF is on, download a new copy of Safari from Apple's site.
