I cannot enter my time machine. I have a message with "error code −6584"

I am trying to access my time machine. I have an error message saying that an unexpected error occurred (error code -6584)

Reboot the whole network first and then retry TM.
If that doesn't work then do a verfiy of the backup.
hold the option key and click the TM  icon in the top right area.. a menu with verify appears run that..
If still no good there is a long post with more info.. just follow the More Like This on the right to see if other solutions work.

    Hi jactoday,
To try and resolve the issue, you will want to ensure that there are no obstructions in the printer that may be causing the error. To do this, please follow the steps located here.  If you still receive the error, the printer will require servicing.  Please call or email us using one of the methods on the Contact Us page for further assistance.

  • Can't move time machine.... getting a error code 22

    Hi
I hope someone can help. I have been trying to move my time machine back up file to a new drobo drive using a HFS+ file system. The file is about and says it will take a few hours .
After about an hour it stops with a message *"The operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -22)"* It has copied 16.13GB
I have followed the instructions on moving the file from the apple site 101 http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427
I have now tried 3 times!

TM quit because there's problem with that file.
For now, don't touch it. Instead, exclude it from TM and run another backup (there might be another problem).
To exclude it, go to TM's Preferences and click Options.
In the next panel, click the plus sign at the bottom.
In the sidebar of the next panel, select your home folder, then navigate to the folder +/Users/Superman/Music/iTunes/Album Artwork/Cache+
Select it, click Exclude, then Done.
Then do a +Back Up Now+ from the TM icon in your Menubar.
If TM runs ok, then you need to figure out what's wrong with that cache file.
I'm not particularly familiar with iTunes, but you can probably just delete it. Check the iTunes forum for that.

  • TS1424 What does this page have to do with error code 8003 and not being able to empty trash?

I did a search for help and this is where I keep landing. But I can open the iTunes Store site just fine, even though I never do.

Lastly while at the AT&T Store and
with this guy, I explained that I am in need of a
cellular telephone for work and he said that "I can
take my iPhone SIM card out and put it into my old
telephone (which is a Treo 650) if I need service
back or to use a cell phone in the meantime". Won't
this delay the activation of the iPhone though and
how would an iPhone SIM work in a treo 650 anyways?
AFAIK the SIM that comes with the iPhone is nothing out of the ordinary...just a new SIM card with AT&T livery. I am in the same boat as you and your wife, but I removed the SIM from the iPhone and am using it in my Treo650 until they can sort this out because I need a phone...period. So it does in fact work if you wish to do it.
I have no idea about the rumor that the iPhone must remain docked/online during this process nor do I know if using the new SIM in an old phone is elongating things. My guess is that neither is true and the delay is being caused by a MASSIVE onslaught of activity upon AT&T's mainframe.

  • When I try to enter a time machine with Snow Leopard backups Lion I get an error code -6584 ... how to fix?

    Hi.
I had a first gen time machine with backups all on Snow Leopard.
This died (power supply), and I bought a new time capsule, because to fix the old one would cost nearly the same amount.
Since, I have started using Lion, and backed up onto my new time capsule in Lion.
Unfortunately, there was a file I deleted that I really need for a Logic Audio project, that is only present on the old time capsule.
I got the old time capsule fixed, so it powers up. I even extended my current wireless network with it. I can see inside it -- all the data that I dragged onto its HD in the past is present, and the "Sparse Bundle" containing the data for the time capsule save-states is present too.
Now, when I try to "Enter" my old time capsule, I get this error message:
I tried entering the time machine via WiFi and via ethernet, to no avail.
Can anyone help me to access these old save states on my old "snow leopard" time capsule?
I was thinking maybe I need to try to access it from a machine with Snow Leopard?
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance.

  • HT3728 since Oct 25 my time capsule is not working properly. I enter the time machine to check my backups and the only thing I see is balck screen on every single day since I put it to work on my house. Any ideas on what's going on?

I am having problems with my time capsule.
It's not backing up... if I enter the time machine, all I see is a black page, any day I look, since the day I bought it.
Was not like this before Oct 25...
Any ideas on what's going on and what should I do to make it work again?

Check the USB cable first to make sure that it is operating correctly on another connection.
You may need to use a powered USB hub with the drive since the USB port on the Time Capsule is not a high powered port like you have on your Mac.
You may need to use the powered hub even if the hard drive has its own external power supply.

Otherwise check via the airport utility if there is something else using space on the hard disk.

  • Cannot open the Time Machine Preferences

I'm running into this new problem after upgrading a client MBP to 10.6.2.
I get an error message when trying to open the Time Machine Preferences:
The document "TimeMachine.prefPane" could not be opened. System Preferences cannot open files in the "Mac OS X Preference Pane" format.
    Has anyone seen this?
I'm using Time Capsule for the backups. It is setup to extend a network with another Time Capsule.
    Thanks

Hi, and welcome to the forums.
That's a new one. It sounds like something has been copied from a PPC Mac, or something's been corrupted so badly it looks like that's where it came from.
Can you do a +Back Up Now+ from the TM icon in your Menubar?
If, as you say, TM "stopped working," you'd have to figure out why and fix it, anyway.
Can you make a partition on your TM disk that's at least 10% larger than the data on your internal HD? if so, your best bet might be to download CarbonCopyCloner. It will make a full bootable "clone" of your entire system on a separate partition. It's donationware, available at: http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html

  • HT201250 The back ups are not displaying when i enter the time machine

I'm trying to restore my files to my new MacBook I just purchased. I have the external hard drive connected and entered the Time Machine. But, the back-ups are not displayed "in pink on the right side" as indicated in the directions. I do see the back up folders when I open up the hard drive using Finder.  Any ideas on how I can restore my files?
    Thanks

You should be using Setup Assistant to import your data, as detailed here:

  • I cannot get my Time machine to work

I have just bought a 2TB Airport Time Capsule. I cannot get the Time Machine to set up as it states that "A newer version of Airport Utility is required. This version of Airport Utility doesn't support this Airport wireless device and might improperly configure the device if you continue to use it. Check Apple support for the latest version of Airport Utility".
However i'm having difficulty locating the correct update to down load. Any suggestions?
My Imac is OS X version 10.6.8 Thanks

Please review the System Requirements for the new Time Capsule:
    System Requirements.......Setup and Administration
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 6 or later and AirPort Utility 1.3
Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later and AirPort Utility 6.3
        http://www.apple.com/airport-time-capsule/specs/
Since your iMac does not meet the minimum requirements of Lion (10.7.5) to install the new Time Capsule, might you have an iPhone or iPad....or be able to borrow one for 10 minutes.....to set things up that way?

    Re Time Machine
I have an external  hard drive with files I backed up manually over the past 2 years 1TB of memory.
I am finally taking the leap to use Time machine to back everything.
will I have to reformat that drive, thus wiping my previous back ups?
can I split it the drive in two partitions?
    Also
as I have two separate Macbook Pro's- one older than the other.
    OSX 10.68
    the other is
    OSX 10.75
can I back them up separately?
or even synch and merge files and folders etc? between the two?

You CAN use a drive with files already on it to store Time Machine backups. But long term, that is not recommended. You do not need to reformat or re-partition the drive to do this. Once Time Machine Backups are established, you could remove the old files.
But do not delete Time Machines files with the Finder -- that can cause it to lose its place and lose everything.
With the cost of backup drives under US$100, it might be a better idea in the long run to get another drive. Best results from Time Machine is a drive about 3 times larger than the drive(s) you are backing up.

I have just upgraded to Mavericks and have been using Time Machine on an external disk with Snow Leopard.  Can I continue to backup with Time Machine on the same external disk or do I need a new disk since the operating system has changed?

    Hi there,
I found that Time Machine in Mavericks will sort it all out for you. You shouldn't need to buy another backup drive, unless you have insufficient space left and can't afford to delete whats on there. It should just work fine.

  • With Time Machine I have an external hard drive formatted with Mac

With Time Machine I have an external hard drive formatted with Mac. The record contained files windows. How to recover?
Serious mistake: to connect a Mac to an external drive with data (important!) Windows, the warning appears: "You want to use the disk for Time Machine?" Wrong button, so in 2-3 seconds, the disk is formatted. Now Mac "sees" the disc but empty, Windows does not see it under "My Computer" but in "Disk Management" is reported as "hard core", "healthy", "GPT protective partition" Is there a way to retrieve the files? Sorry for my English Thanks

I'm having a difficult time following, I understand English isn't your native language. You may have good luck with Google Translate.
