If your Firefox is located in the standard installation location - that is, given that you didn't change location during install - you should be able to find it in the '''C:\Program Files\Mozilla\Firefox\''' folder.
Or you can try searching your hard drive(s) for it, by using menu Start -> Search > for Files or Folders... -> in left-hand Search Assistant box, click "-> All files and folders" -> enter "firefox*.*" and click button "Search".
If this does not find the Firefox executable file, it may be missing on your system. See our article [[Installing Firefox on Windows]] for help with installation.

  • When right-clicking firefox in the task bar... v5 does NOT open a new tab, or open a new window when selected. Only crtl-N opens a new window iff Firefox is the active window.

Today FF 5.0 was DL-d and installed (automatic update is/was active). Help->About-> shows version 5.0, and there were no problems with the install.
I have ASUS G72 running W7 with the latest MS updates via auto-update.
FF is pinned to the task bar.
Previous version(s) allowed for opening new windows and tabs by right click of FF icon on task bar, and selecting "Mozilla FireFox" (which opened new window) , or selecting "Open New Window." Opening a new tab in the current session could be done by selecting "Open New Tab."
These features do not operate in the latest version (5.0), or have I fumbled the ball (by not having something set right in this version.
Thanks in advance for you help. Keep up the great work.

If you have tabs on top and no menu then the tabs are in a "Windows" area so there is no space to right. If you put tabs back to the bottom you will have most of your old behavior but because of the changes to tabs on top most of the tab context menu stuff all of the context menu part was lost except the customize toolbar stuff, double-clicking on an empty spot was restored, and eventually during the FF 4 beta most of the tab extensions Firefox messed up eventually worked again except in the area to the right of the tabs.
The Windows part of that double-click has to maximize or restore to normal,
and you have to be able to drag the window by it;'s title bar.

  • When openning firefox from the task bar it opens to the last page viewed how can I change that

Whenever I open Firefox from the taskbar or the desktop icon it opens to the last session pages. Is there a way to change that back to the homepage.

hello svicinanza, that is probably caused by the user.js file in your profile (it shouldn't be present anyway in case you haven't created it manually, since it can be used to overwrite your custom preferences).
in order to resolve that, go to the firefox ''menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information'', click on ''profile folder/show folder'' and close all firefox windows afterwards. a windows explorer window should open up - in there delete the file named '''user.js''' and restart the browser.

I am trying to download a variety of files and when it is finished, the Mac freezes up and the task bar continue to blink on and off.
I have to go into Firefox and actually quit the application to continue. Any help is very much appreciated.

are you backing up files, or doing a Time machine backup, either way, the Time machine will STOP when finished and show "last backup at XXXXXX"  meaning its done...... OR if when transferring files, it will show a progress bar on your desktop and vanish when files are copied.
Open up the Hitachi drive (your G drive is made by Hitachi, and the best made by the way).....and see if the files are there.
a MORE VISUAL way is to open the hard drive file, and drag and drop files INTO the Gdrive and you can see them visually be copied there as you do it.
To see your HD on your desktop GOTO  FINDER......PREFERENCES....then GENERAL TAB.........check the box marked HARD DRIVES.........then your Gdrive will appear on your desktop........open it from there,  and DRAG and drop files from anywhere INTO the Gdrive....... easy visual way to see the files being copied into the Gdrive.

  • Firefox window is not shown and not even in the tasks bar, but there is a process running in the task manager

Clicked on the Firefox icon , but window did not appeared, checked in the Task manager, there is a process running with firefox.exe, and could not see any icon in the task bar adjacent to start button

I discovered that when the "Firefox is already running . . . ." message pops up I can fix it by doing the following [note: I get the same message for the Thunderbird e-mail program too] : 1. I open 'TASK MANAGER" and click on the "Processes" tab. 2. Next I scroll down until I see Firefox.exe *32 in the leftmost column (or Thunderbird. exe *32 if the message came up there), highlight that line by clicking on it and then click on the "end process" button on the right side on the bottom. 4. A pop-up window will come up but ignore its message and click on the "end process" button in the pop-up window. The program should then start the next time you click on the icon..
While that saves the need to restart your PC to fix the problem, I have yet to find any information as to the reasons for those two processes to show up in the first place. I'm running the 64 bit Win 7 Professional and do not know if that has something to do with those two processes running from time to time or not. The message comes up often but not all the time and I haven't been able to pinpoint any action on my part where the message comes up if I do '''X '''or the message never comes up when I do '''Y''' before closing Firefox or Thunderbird.

  • Firefox has spontaneously decided not to show the task bar at the bottom of the screen, and some menu bars have been messed up. How can I fix this?

My Firefox has spontaneously (apparently) decided not to show the task bar at the bottom of the screen (the margin is there, but it is blank), and some menu bars have been messed up. Perhaps the most annoying aspect of these changes is the fact that I have to use alt-tab to move from a Firefox session to another session.
I can find no way to fix these problems. Can you help? Am I going to have to uninstall and re-install Firefox in order to get back to the default settings? If so, is there any way to preserve my bookmarks?

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).<br />
If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.<br />
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.

  • After Firefox has been on for awhile, the Firefox tabs on the task bar disappear even though the pages are still running. I have to use Ctrl+Tab to fix it

I have started using Firefox recently. My computer is running XP. I notice that whether I have one Firefox window or multiple windows open, after awhile the Firefox tabs on the bottom task bar just disappear.
In order to get them back I have to use Ctrl+Tab to select each window one at a time and then they re-appear again on the task bar. Then after awhile they will disappear again.

  • Why there is an icon in the task bar when Firefox is running?!

There is an icon in task bar, and some popup channels upon left-click.
I have been using Firefox for many years because it's CLEAN but this icon makes me feeling uncomfortable. I don't find the way to disable this icon in options or somewhere else.

    The iTunes Icon on the task bar;
    You need iTunes Preferences:
    Edit>>Preferences>>Advanced tab.
Can you find that? There is a checkbox near the bottom: "Show iTunes icon in system tray".
The safe mode start: You need to press ctrl shift and then open iTunes, keep holding ctrl shift until iTunes opens.
Any program that you have that makes use of your iTunes library could potentially prevent iTunes closing as it has to be open in order for another program to access iTunes info.
Another thing that can cause problems is Bonjour. You can try stopping the bonjour service and then opening iTunes - then check if it closes.
The following article include instructions for stopping bonjour:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2250?viewlocale=en_US
If you want a brute force way of looking for other things interfering with iTunes, try MSConfig:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2292?viewlocale=en_US
There is a link to the XP version on the page if necessary.
This is a diagnostic method, not a solution.

  • Firefox opens, and preview shows when hover on the task bar link, but the window will not maximize, or show up at any size on my screen (Windows 7) Help?!

I am running Windows 7 and just updated Firefox to the 7.0 version. I can open Firefox, in the sense that I can run the application. I can see that it is open because the link shows up on my task bar, and when I hover over it I can see the thumbnail preview - which, incidentally says "You're almost there!"; but I can not open the window! I have tried clicking once on the task bar link, and once again (just in case I was clicking to minimize instead of maximize). I have tried double clicking the shortcuts on my desktop, then the one in my program files, as well as the one in my start menu, and the static one pinned to my task bar. I have tried accessing Firefox from every path available on my computer and I can open it every time, but *never* not even once have I been able to view it on my screen. I can't understand what would cause this and maybe I'm just an idiot but can anybody help me... please? Oh, and I don't know if it makes any difference, but I did try restoring 6.0 and I re installed 7.0 again, all to the same end... Many thanks to anyone willing to help me fix this!

    * Start Firefox again and now all should be fine

Before I updated to ios5  there was a number lit up on the task bar (next to bookmarks) which were all the windows I like to keep open. Now, after updating I can't find that feature in settings. I don't like all the different tabs along the top. Can anyone help me please?? I just want to click on the number and have all of my open windows there!

I don't think that is an option. iOS 5 new features is tabbed browsing, it replaced the old window interface.

  • The Task bar at the bottom of my computer dissapears when I use Firefox how do I get it back?

I think I clicked something near the bottom of Firefox, and now the task bar at the bottom of the computer screen disappears when I go on Firefox. It goes a bit transparent when I first goon Firefox but then disappears completely when I click anywhere on Firefox. I want to have the task bar back. (By task bar I mean the thing at the bottom with the start menu and things on)

This has happened to me in Chrome, Firefox & IE. (I have Windows 8).
So many other people have had this issue over the past couple of years in forums. They have all been "Closed/Solved" but they have NEVER been solved!!
(Hint: It is not solved by toggling task bar properties etc etc etc or dragging anything anywhere or messing with explorer.exe or clicking F11 / F10 or F bloody anything else!! etc etc et bloody cetra! ! So don't talk about that!!! I can go to my 11yo for such mundane, non-thinking wastes of time!!)
Why can't someone do something to fix it?!
No wonder Microsoft can only exist through size but not with client service!!
