I cannot find my backup on iTunes?

I took a manual back of my iphone 4s on 22nd May, 2013 because i wanted to upgrade my iphone to iOS 6.1.3.
But i ended up updating my iphone on the 26th of May, 2013, when i again took a back up of my phone. Strangely on 26th May, the backup was taken in less than 3 minutes and there was no error message infact itunes read that backup taken "TODAY at ___pm)
Now when after updating my iphone to iOS 6.1.3 i tried restoring the backup taken on 26th there was an error message saying that "Cannot restore backup and Itunes could not take a backup on this computer" or something like that.
But I also cannot see the full backup taken on 22nd May, 2013. What do i do now?

Check iTunes for the back up.

If you have changed country on your account then I don't think that items bought whilst it was set to a different country will show (that appears to be what other people have posted).
In terms of your music, have you not got a backup of your content ? You computer's iTunes will only copy iTunes purchases back via File > Transfer Purchases.  You could see if the programs mentioned half-way down this page are any use : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article. If the Storage display seems to be inaccurate, try rebuilding the Spotlight index.
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
    iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then restart the computer. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as  Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Ask for instructions in that case.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) or GrandPerspective (GP) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one. Note that ODS only works with OS X 10.8 or later. If you're running an older OS version, use GP.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS or GP can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install the app you downloaded in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the corresponding line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
    sudo /Applications/GrandPerspective.app/Contents/MacOS/GrandPerspective
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with the app, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • I backed up before restoring my iPod and I cannot find the backup

I recently had issues with a forgotten passcode so I restored my iPod, but I also backed it up beforehand, and now I cannot find the backup, it had really important notes and the only notes that were deleted were the important ones. Can someone please help me?? I've tried WonderShare Dr Fone for iOS and other programs and none of them show the backup.

If you backed up to iTunes then what is listed in iTunes>Preferences>Devices?
Where are iTunes backups stored on your computer
The folder where your backup data is stored depends on the computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your data-backup routine. iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
The "~" represents your Home folder. If you don't see Library in your home folder, hold Option and click the Go menu.
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
    Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press Return.
For how to restore from backup see:

    Hello pitichai,
I would be concerned as well if my iPhone was not recognized by iTunes.  Thank you for providing all the information with the steps you took in regards to this issue.
You have taken some really good steps already, but I found an article with a few more steps you can take (you can skip steps 1-4 because you have already tried those):

  • I cannot find the backup of my phone on iTunes after new software download

I recently had to download new software for my husbands iPhone 4. It had not been updated in over a year. I synced his phone and made sure there was a fresh backup. After I downloaded the new software and installed it on the phone it will not find his backup. iTunes also does not show his phone as one I'm able to select. I is recognizing it as a new device.

Check iTunes for the back up.

  • I cannot find an album in iTunes 11

I just imported a CD into iTunes and now I cannot find it in iTunes. It is on my computer and it will open it if I click on the file to play it. I want to put the CD on my iPod.

If you are in a country where music can be redownloaded then it should show in the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage - that it where you can redownload items (as long as they remain in the store).

I'm trying to update my 2nd generation ipod touch to ios 4.2.1 so I can get some games and stuff for my daughter. I saw on apple suppport that it was available in the itunes store, but cannot find it. Any ideas or help?

Update it from iTunes on a computer as described at the bottom of this article; devices running an iOS version prior to 5.0 can't be updated straight from the device.

I want to burn an Album onto iTunes. It is imported. However, it does not come under that artist.
    What do I do?

    Hello Marks232,
There are two places I would check, the fires would be in iTunes in the movies sections. There should be a Rental tab in that section. If you do not see it then check out the following article to see if the file has been downloaded to your computer.
Where are my iTunes files located?

If you still cannot find it, then refer to the following article for issues about your purchase.

  • I can't find my backup through itunes

hi I work mainly on a PC. I back up periodically my iphone on my computer.  I know where to find my backups.  Recently my phone crashed and needed restoring, I go to choose my backup and the one I want is not there.  I know where to find the backups on my computer went into the file and I see the backup I want but when I go to choose it through itunes it is not showing up.  Help....

    Ocean20 wrote:
There is only ever one backup saved by iTunes and whenever you do another  backup the old one is overwritten
Except for iOS backups created at restore points. These backups are time/date stamped & are not overwritten. iCloud, if enough space is available, will keep three iOS backups.

  • Time Machine does backups, but cannot find those backups

I have a 27-inch iMac (mid 2011) what is wirelessly connected to a 3T Airport Time Capsule.
    I am running Yosemite 10.10.1
In the Time machine preferences, the latest  backup was made at 5:54p (C) today. The earliest was made in July 2014.
My problem is that I cannot access the backups. When I enter time machine I get the "waiting" window title and then a message that says the backups cannot be found and a referral to the time machine preferences. When I go the the preferences, everything looks OK. The proper disk is selected.
I read another post that seemed related to this, but there were so many abbreviations, that I could not understand anything. If anyone does understand this issue, could you explain it in plain terms? Thank you.
