I cannot find the usb drive

I have a macbook pro, running OS X Yosemite. I plugged in a valid USB and it does not show in Finder? Is there another way to locate it?

place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

Did my HD just crash and unrecoverable? Time to replace my notebook?

This clearly implies that your driver classes are not on the classpath.

Cannot find the installed driver for Canon Pixma ip6600D

I'm pretty new with Mac and OS X and got one problem to use a previous installed driver.
First, please excuse my bad english, I'll do my very best
I've got a Buffalo Linkstation Live 320GB with implemented USB Ports.
You can take the USB Port to use with a printer.
The Linkstation will be a Windows Printserver.
I've connected a Canon Pixma ip6600D at USB Port one and all works fine with Windows XP and Vista via network.
Printing with this Network device uses Windows Network-printing like -> workgroup\buffalo\lp (lan printer)
With Windows this works very well. But now im using OS X Leopard.
So I've downloaded the Canon Mac OS X 10.5 Driver for the ip6600D (can be used for Network printing) and installed it.
OS X wants to reboot, so I think the extension is installed fine.
After this im going to "System adjustments" -> "Printers and Fax" -> "Windows" -> "Workgroup" -> "buffalo" -> "lp"
The Printer is found and here comes my problem: The ip6600D driver does not appear in the drop down list. Only Gutenprint ip6700.
I'm able to print with this driver, but it doesn't work very well and im not able to use CD printing.
So, wehere ist the ip6600D driver? Lost in nowhere?
If I want to search for the driver, nothing could be found.
Searching with Spotlight for ip6600 doesn't find something to use.
Only the installer image of the driver and some web links.
How do I choose the installed ip6600D driver?

Since there doesn't appear to be an iP6600 driver within the Gutenprint v5.1.3 list, then you could try one of the other iP models, like the iP5200. The key is to find a model that uses the same ink tanks as your iP6600D (and preferably the same engine but that is not as easy to find). If one of the other IP models doesn't help, then you could try the S800. With older versions of Gutenprint I would recommend this model as it would be good enough for text printing, but not that good for images.
If you are unable to find a compatible printer then you may have to look at changing some things. The Canon printer driver has not been designed to be used on the Mac OS X when the printer is being shared by Windows, hence the need to Gutenprint. If this model is not supported in later versions of Gutenprint, then you could look at using PrintFab (which you will have to pay for) or changing the network setup so that the printer is not connected to Windows, such as getting an Airport Express/Extreme. This would allow both OS's to connect to the printer using the Canon driver. Or you could connect the printer to the Mac and get Windows to connect to the Mac share using Bonjour for Windows.

Cannot find the "D" drive (CD/DVD)

There was a D drive on my laptop before and now there isn't.
I have no idea how it vanished. The drive is for both compact discs and dvd discs.
Now when i put discs in the drive they start to load but then finish. I cant find the drive on "My Computer" either.
Could someone help me on how to get the drive back?

You mean the CD/DVD drive?
In first case you should check if the CD/DVD drive appears in the device manager.
If you will see an yellow exclamation mark near to the CD/DVD drive then you should remove the ODD from the device manager.
Furthermore you should access the registry using the command regedit and should remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
After this procedure reboot the machine again!

Cannot find the Hard Drive on Disk Utility

I am using an iMac (mid 2010) the factory Operating System was Mac OS X 10.6.4 and updated to Mac OS X 10.9.1.
Following a "Flashinhg Question Mark" iMac was unable to boot.
Then installed OS X on an external HD and boot the iMac. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5911
iMac is working with the external Mac OS but in the "System Preferenses>Startup Disk do not show the internal Hard Drive.
Following this issue the iMac fan is working fast and noisy.
I tried
1. SMC reset
2. PRAM reset
3. Safe Boot
4. Boot with the external USB Mac OS X
nothing helped me.

I was in the process of running Disk Utility last night to repair permissions when it gave me a message that it could not connect to Disk Management Unit (I think that was the name) and suddenly quit. I tried again, and the same thing happened. Then, the computer froze with the spinning rainbow again, and I had to do a hard shutdown. When I tried to restart, I got a gray screen. I tried squeezing the left corner again, and after a couple of attempts was able to boot the computer. However, it froze again and had to be shutdown. This cycle happened a few more times before I decided to give it a break.
This morning, my husband turned it on to see what it would do, and it started up normally. However, we restarted it so that we could repair the disk, and it took several tries before it could see the HDD. I tried "repair," and it seemed to work for about a minute before giving me the same error message: "The underlying task reported failure."
My husband and I believe we have some sort of logic board problem, specifically the ATA controller. What is your opinion, and what would you suggest next?

Where can I find the USB driver for the serial to USB adapter?

I have a Palm IIIc with the serial HotSync cradle and USB adapter but I dont have the driver disc for it and was wondering if there was a page within the site here I could download it from?
The OS platform needed for the driver is Win2000 / XP.

It had the Prolific USB-to-Serial driver for WinXP. I downloaded & installed it. It created a COM5 port that my Palm Desktop found automatically. I hit the HotSync and, presto!, everything works perfectly. I only spent 5 hours trying to solve this problem for my dad.
He hadn't HotSync'd his Palm IIIxe to his home laptop since NOV2005!! And he hadn't HotSync'd to his work PC since he retired in JUL2008 (and he doesn't have access to that PC anymore).
I'll repeat this post in the other threads I queried on. I hope this helps someone solve their USB-to-Serial Adapter Driver problems.

Cannot find the database driver

I have a java project that I created a JAR file from, and it uses the MySQL database driver (com.mysqljdbc.Driver). I am trying to execute the JAR file with the following command:
java -classpath d:\mysqldriver\mysql-connector-java-3.1.14\mysql-connector-java-3.1.14-bin.jar -jar MyProject.jarThat gives me a ClassNotFoundException and I don't understand why!

First of all, the -jar and -classpath options are mutually exclusive (you can only give one option or the other).
So if you want to use the -jar option, then your jar's manifest file needs to specify the dependent classpath in it.

Cannot find my hard drive connected to my extreme

Hi - I am using a Windows 7 PC and cannot find the hard drive connected to my airport extreme. I have gone into manaul set up on the extreme and asked it to share the files which it has confirmed, yet when I go into windows explorer I cannot see the drive at all ...... can I please ask for some assitance?

Just want to be sure of three things first if you don't mind:
Does the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) have a Base Station Name that includes a space? For example: My AirPort Extreme. If it does, rename it so that it does not have any spaces or use the underscore character between words.
Does the shared HDD have a volume name that includes a space? If it does, again, remove them or add underscore characters.
Is the HDD formatted in NTFS? If so, the AEBSn does the best job of sharing HDDs formatted in HFS+, then FAT32. It will NOT work properly with HDDs formatted in NTFS. If the HDD is very high capacity, you may want to borrow a friend's Mac to format it in HFS+ or get a utility that lets your PC format/read/write to HFS+ volumes. Regardless of it being formatted in HFS+, the AEBSn will share it out using both the AFP (for Macs) and SMB (for Windows/Linux) file sharing protocols ... so Windows PC should not have any difficulty accessing it.

I told it to look for a drive, yet it is constantly saying that it is "looking for other computers". It doesn't find the external drive ... it just endlessly looks for other computers. Why is it looking for other computers at all, when I told it not to?

Wow, the wording in Migration Assistant is misleading. I've never used it before, so I thought I would try to copy my files from the external drive ... my old iMac died, but I managed to get everything I need off it, using the 'cp' command in single-user mode. So I guess I'll just have to manually copy the files from the external drive to the new machine. I was hoping that Migration Assistant might help somehow, but obviously not.

On a Windows 2008 R2 server running SQL 2008 Standard on a Raid 5, when performing a backup on the databases via copy to another local drive I receive and The operating system returned error 27(The drive cannot find the sector requested.) to SQL Server during
a write at offset 0x0000002fd204000 in the file F:\SQLDATA\Email_Images.mdf. The server is a HP DL380p Gen8. I've contacted HP thinking this was a Hardware issue but HP ensure me its not and to contract Microsoft support.

Unfortunately, the available information is not enough to have a clear view of the occurred behavior. Please offer us what backup method you are using, did you want to backup
the data to the CSV, the origional error you have got.
1. The best method would be to have separate disk drive for each cluster SQL instance and add the disk to the specific SQL group and add it to the dependency of the SQL resource.
There would be less overhead with this process other than having to create two disks, one of each instance
2. You could consider creating a file sharing resource on cluster and add the backup disk to this resource group and use it to back up the databases of both the instances
to single disk. The down side of this method would be, all the databases backups will fail if the fileshare resource goes down. You cannot use GUI to take the backup, need additional setup/maintenance for the fileshare resource group
