I cannot get imessage, facetime and icloud on my new Ipad 2

Got a lovely new Ipad 2 as a birthday gift today but having an awful time trying to set it up!
I sign in with my apple id to activate iMessage and that goes through fine it then asks me what email address i would like to use so i put it in and it says verifying but then an error message pops up saying "imessage activation an error occurred while verifing your email" no matter what i do this comes up (same problem with facetime... i have tried searching the community for solutions but none have worked so far
I also can't seem to get icloud to work... it says my account isn't verified and to check my email but i havent had any email and doesnt work even if i try different apple ids (i have an old mac so have an apple id already which i use with itunes)
If someone could please offer so advice i would be very grateful!
Many thanks
x

Are you trying to connect over WiFi? Or cellular? Does this happen on all networks or just certain ones?
And, just for my edification, what is "Twitch"?

    CREATE A NEW USER
Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Users & Groups
Decide on whether to setup as Admin or Standard User.
Switch to the New User by logging out under the Apple in the Menu Bar or use Fast User Switching
Fast User Switching allows other users to leave current applications and windows open. Depending on RAM, you might need to log out rather than use FUS.

  • I cannot get my itunes to connect with my new ipad

I cannot get my itunes to connect with my new ipad, it keeps telling me that it cannot be activated because the server cannot be reached and the my itunes tells me my network has been reset

Just have to give it some time. The activation and verification servers are all slammed right now 'cause of all the people trying to update at the same time. Give it a couple hours (or overnight if you can wait) and it should sort itself out.

Changed e-mail address & Apple ID. Verified by Apple. Itunes & email working but cannot access Messages,Facetime & Icloud. Keep throwing up old email address & wont accept either new or old passwords. Anyone got a solution?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Firstly, you need to change your details with Apple,  Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

  • TS4230 I cannot download my Garageband from iCloud on my new iPad

Just purchased a new iPad. Didnt restore from backup. Not going to either. Setup device as new and re-downloaded GarageBand. When I flip the switch to "use icloud", my previous projects aren't all downloading. 6 songs are coming in, but not all.

    Hi...
Make sure Restricitions is not enabled.
Tap Settings > General > Restrictions
If you are using the same Apple ID to login to this forum it should work on your iPad at the App Store.

  • I cannot get into facebook and icloud from my settings, help

Can someone help me. For some reason my Facebook, Icloud, Messages, and Facetime are not accessible from my general settings on my Ipad. This limits me getting my games on facebook etc. Why is this? Is it a password issue? Do I have to reset my Ipad and start from scratch?

See this support document if you have forgotten your passcode. iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled  Not sure why it is asking for you to turn off Find My iPhone if it is not showing in your account on iCloud though.

  • How do I get my files from iCloud onto my new iPad?

I was able to get my apps back but I still havent found my files.... My calendar and several pages. Where are they?

Had you backed up your iPad to iCloud? You would need to restore from backup to retain data

  • I cannot get the sound working on my nearly new Ipad. It originally worked. But not anymore

Can someone help me with a sound issue on my Ipad2. It was working normally. But having installed apps I later rmoved, it does not work anymore. Even a total reset did not help so far. Is this a known issue?

Assuming that you havn't turned the volume right down, have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound. Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085

I *AM* signed into Facetime and iCloud using the same Apple ID.  Why am I receiving this error all of a sudden?  I make calls using my Mac and need this feature.  I have tried disabling and re-enabling both over a dozen times.  TRUST ME, it is NOT user error -- it is Apple releasing features before they are fully ready error!

  • Why did OS just ask for my iMessage, FaceTime and mail password?

Why did OS just ask for my iMessage, FaceTime and mail password?

    Hi,
I signed up for a Developer account with my Apple ID at one stage.
Although I don't use it I do get prompted to Change my Password frequently, but somewhat randomly since.
At first I wondered if it was a change within the Apple set up overall but I have not heard other people mention it.
Since then I must admit to not checking posts on this topic though.
Whether the request to change the password is triggered by some other even at the server I don't know.
For instance these communities/forums are shared/duplicated across four or five servers.  There can be issues is they go out of sync and things like the roll out of the new layout can be server by server with them being Off line in rotation - which it turn can stress the  load on the first to handle the change.
On Change over day the process was supposed to start at about 12.00 Noon my local time.
In the evening I could not sign  in during the 3 hours I am normally at my computer.
However I could see both the iPhone Community and the Mavericks communities both had large numbers of spam "meet women in..." and offers for "help" with a name that sounded like it could be an Indian Guru.
It looked like these were being edited out at the time.
However the Status page told me nothing about the downtime. And it did appear some people were Logged in and posting judging by the time codes.
Whilst I believe an event happens that triggers a request for a new password for me I do not specifically know that this is what triggers others to have to log in again.
To put it another way though.
You might have one password to the account that you use for FaceTime, Messages, iTunes, iCloud Logging in to post here and so forth.
Whilst the Messages, FaceTime, iTunes and iCloud servers are all separate that password has to be verified.
If there is a power outage at that server then everyone has to log in again.

FaceTime and iCloud must be signed in to the same Apple ID to use iPhone Cellular Calls.
This is the error message I receive when I try to add my phone to my Mac for proximity / FaceTime audio calling.  This feature worked until I changed my Apple ID.  I have updated my Apple ID everywhere I can think of updating it.  I've signed out of Apple ID on my Mac, deleted EVERYTHING (calendars, contacts, etc.), signed back in, etc.  I've done the same with my phone, and even done a power-down / reboot and nada.  I keep getting this message from the Mac.
I can't figure out where else I should look for my old Apple ID to be logged into anything or creating problems.  I've gone over my iPhone and Mac and I'm at a loss.  As an aside (and yes, wrong forum), have lost the ability to do SMS forwarding since the Mac no longer receives the code from my iPhone to allow this feature to work.  This was lost after signing out of the Apple ID on my Mac this afternoon.
Bluetooth is turned on for both devices.  Both devices are on the same WiFi network.  Both devices otherwise appear to be working correctly with the exception of the problems I'm having with FaceTime and iCloud being signed into the same Apple ID (which they are).
    Thanks in advance,

(By the way, I should have pointed out in my earlier posting that I'm running OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 on my Mac). I Just installed latest Yosemite update while my iPhone was switched off, and when my Mac restarted, the 'iPhone Cellular Calls' checkbox in the FaceTime preferences was checked and the problem was therefore solved. Switched on my iPhone, still fine. Relief.

  • HT204380 I cannot get any FaceTime calls to work.

I cannot get any FaceTime calls to work. If I do manage to talk to the other person, I only see myself. One only sees himself. One sees nothing. What are we doing wrong?
    Thanks.

Sounds like a catch 22 situation. I rekon you are in the UK trying to use the 3 USB wimax stick.
In anycase an iMac is a big machine to lug around. It's a difficult situation.
If you have a neighbor, politely ask them if you can use their broadband for a short while. If this is not practical then call 3 and let them know your circumstances.
I might be stepping on my own feet here…wait. You need Java 6.
Ok for now, try the standalone combo update for Lion client. We will try things the manual way. It's a big download, please make sure you are not going to reach your download cap on your phone becuase you are now tethered to your mobile phone and I wouldn't want to see you pay a premium for this.
Here is the Lion Client combo update. Download it and double click the eventual DMG file. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1524
