In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)

AEX, airtunes, and brand new mac book pro
have been using my AEX as a router, as well as, to play music thru airtunes for two years via my older powerbook. last week i purchased a new macbook pro and connected it to my old network. i have noticed a few things...
1) the signal bars are usually four, but sometimes drop to 2 randomly
2) often airtunes will not play music, it finds the basestation, and appears to begin playing, but the scrollbar does not move and no music plays (this is my most serious issue)
3) random slow internet, coincides with drop in signal from 4 to 2
4) i have also noticed many more networks in my airport menu
these problems never occurred with my old computer, i played airtunes seamlessly for 2 years and perhaps had random slow internet. i need my music, and it is quite distressing. i have no 2.4 GHz phones, no microwaves nearby, i do have a Wii and am a mere 15 feet from the AEX. i have done a restart to the AEX, changed channels when down to 2 bars with some intermittent help. i won't put up with having to troubleshoot every time this occurs, which has been everyday thus far. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Hi again,
I have lost count of the number of posts here, in addition to my direct experience with my clients, where FileVault is discovered to be the main cause of whatever symptoms are being experienced. I refuse to turn it on on any of my systems and will always, always advise against turning it on to anyone who asks me.
I would recommend that you initially back up all your data to external media (either external hd or DVD-R) and then attempt to turn off FileVault. I purposely used the word attempt because, more often than not, even this can cause issues. If you are unable to turn FileVault off, indeed even if successful, I would recommend that you carry out an Erase and Install using your MacBook Pro's system disks.
In short, my message is ---- stay away from FileVault.
If you require to protect your files then the best way to achieve this is via Disk Utility and creating an encryted image. More details here:

I have an old i-pod (I think refered to as classic) and an new mac book pro. I managed i-pod files on sony vios that I no longer have. I want to connect i-pod to new pro to manage files. I do not want to lose music. What is the process to get i-pod to recognize new mac book.
Try going to the app store, in your applications folder.
Then go to the purchases section and if you see iphoto in the selection it should have an install button on the right click that and it will install. -

I bought a new Mac Book Pro a couple of months ago the new model, very high spec, i7 processor, 500g solid state drive, 8 gig of ram. all in all a very fast machine. however, i foolishly downloaded OS X Lion and as soon as i did i noticed a considerable difference in the machine basically its ground to a halt, its now slow glitchy programs shut down and crash. I'm new to Mac and in reminded of life in the world of Windows....! any suggestions should i wipe Lion off the machine and re install Leopard? any help would be appreciated..
LiamSurely you meant to say that there was nothing in Lion you would prefer over !10.6! - Lion is 10.7.
As for what might be sapping your machines juice - have you run Activity Monitor yet? I always enable 'All Processes' and sort it by %CPU usage if i want to know whats cooking.
In addition to the list Disk Activity might give a hint.
If you are quite low on available disk space it might also be that osx is constantly swapping - best to keep a few GB of free space for it to work with. -
I had an 8GB 1st gen iPod in it's original box in storage and just took it out to hook it up. Charged it overnight, plugged it into new Mac Book Pro and it was recognized as being an iPod in recovery but other identifying information was all indicated as "n/a" (so, unknown OS, etc). Error code 1604 came up so I downloaded iTunes on the Mac Book and it is currently showing version 10. But now when I try to restore the iPod, error code 1611 comes up and the troubleshooting doesn't tell me what else to try. The USB connector that came with the iPod was also never used before - brand new also from the box so that should be fine. I also tried a different USB port on the Mac Book. Any ideas?

This error typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, this error may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service. -

iCloud does the job for you. Both your iPhone and your Mac should have asked you to enable it during their first setup. See -> http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/
You do not have to create a new Apple ID for your MacBook Pro. If you do that, you may have problems syncing your purchases. -
Trouble sharing Music and Photos on new Mac Book Pro
I am loving my new Mac Book Pro. Front Row seems quite promising, but I'm having problems with shared music and photos.
I have an airport network in my home and have most of my music and photos stored on my desktop (Dual G4). When I open iTunes on my new MBP the shared music works just fine. Similarly, iPhotos shows the shared photos from my desktop on my MBP.
But, when I try using Front Row, I get an error message saying that there is no shared content. I found a work around that seems to work most (but not all) of the time. If I open iTunes first, start playing a song (shared from the desktop) and then switch over to Front Row it shows that song as now playing and then the rest of the shared music is available.
I have used Software Update to download the latest version of all software on both computers and for my airport network.
Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Remove the following files to the trash (do not empty until you test for function):
~/library/caches
~/library/preferences/com.apple.itunes.plist
~/library/prefernces/com.apple.iphoto.plist
~/library/preferences/com.apple.frontrow.plist

- Restart your computer again
- Test and see how its working

I have a new mac book pro (sept 2014) and am suddenly stuck on the log-in screen. Keyboard input is not working to enter my password. Seems to be a log in issue as keyboard works for forced troubleshooting. (And b/c when I first noticed the problem, I was able to enter my log in password but then everything sort of froze. Now, no ability to enter the password.) Already tried a basic restart and a cmmnd/ cntrl/ pwr troubleshoot to no effect.

The planned dates of production or release of Windows 8.1 drivers are speculation about the drivers.

Buy an external USB hard drive and copy your data to it. Either that or burn them all to single or double layer DVDs (depending on amount of data you have). Or if it's really a small amount, consider putting it all on a USB memory stick.
