  • HP Deskjet 2540 won't print wireless when HP software is installed

I'm trying to set up my 2540 wirelessly on multiple PC's on my network. I can get it working on every one but my main PC (which is Windows 7 Pro). On the others I just "Add Network Printer" and used the windows drivers and didn't install the HP software, and it works fine. But on my main PC I want the scanner and ink levels and all that to work. As soon as I install the HP software and try to print it does nothing (in MS Office it gives the error "printer not ready") and shows 0 Documents pending in the tray.
It does print test pages from the HP Printer assistant, and the EWS, just not any regular windows programs
Print and scan doctor says it's fine. Turning off firewall is no help. Updated the newest driver from the website.
IP Address of printer is static, and ping works
    Ping statistics for 192.168.22.230:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 7ms, Maximum = 126ms, Average = 52ms
    Printing from mobile (android) works
Also scanning works just fine through the software
Not sure what else to try.
EDIT: now I can't get it to work at all, even after uninstalling the software and trying to Add Network Printer only

  • HP Deskjet 2540 won't print in color.

I just recieved my HP Deskjet 2540 and I can not seem to print in color. I do have a MacBook Air. I am very lost and do not know where to exactly start to even attempt to try to troubleshoot it on my own. Please help!

    Hi,
For the beginning print a Self Test report and ensure the hardware prints black ink as expected:
Load clean, white U.S. Letter or A4 paper in the input tray, if necessary.
Touch and hold the Power button (), and then press the Cancel button ().
Let go of the Cancel button and then the Power button. The test page prints.
Check the estimated ink level graphics on the test page.
Figure : Example of estimated ink levels
Example of estimated ink levels with more ink
Example of estimated ink levels with less ink
If the page does not include black ink follow these steps to troubleshoot a such:
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03803074/
If the hardware produce black ink as expected we should focus on the Mac as following:
    1. Click the Apple icon and select Software Update, be sure to install any available HP or Apple update.
    2. Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select the printer and click the minus button.
    3. Click the Plus button and re-ass the pritner, ensure the printer model is listed within the Use drop down and not any other option as AirPritn or Generic PCL driver, then try printing again.
As well be sure to try printing from any other application to ensure the issue not being with the application itself.
Please let me know of any progress,
    Shlomi

  • HP Deskjet 2540 will not print some documents, will print others

    Hello everybody,
yesterday I installed my new printer Deskjet 2540 wirelessly and tested it. All (scan and copy) worked well up to the point where I wanted to print a Pdf file. It did not so I started picking other documents.
Some pdf files print without a problem, other won't. Some docx files print, other won't. In Excel or Oulook I haven't been able to print anything. In Outlook I was able to print to pdf and then actually print that pdf.
After some close looking, it seems the printing jobs are sent to the spooling area, but deleted within 1 second without actually printing.
I have already tried to reinstall the latest drivers (version 12/12/2O13) and using the HP print and scan troubleshouting. This last one gave me the green light and printed the test page without a problem.
Hopefully anyone recognises this problem? Any solutions would be very welcome.
    Kind regards
    Tom

Hi there Tom, Thanks for your reply with your information, that helps out quite a bit!
First, download (can save right on your Desktop and use whenever you run into a printing or scanning problem) and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor which will search and fix common printing problems. This alone may resolve your issue. If the issue persists, continue on to these steps. Now, I would suggest installing Windows Updates, there will be "optional" ones there as well to install. If there are many updates to be done, this could take up some time.Install Windows Updates  If that doesn't seem to do the trick, I recommend a Level 3 uninstall (uninstall_l3) and reinstall of the printer software and driver. Here are the tools and steps to use.1. Uninstall - HP Officejet Software and Driver Removal Utility2. Restart your PC3. Reinstall - HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows Hopefully the issue will dissipate after the level 3 uninstall and reinstall. If not, here is a link to Adobe to troubleshoot PDF printing problems.Troubleshoot PDF printing | Acrobat, Reader  If you run into any other issues, please let me know. I will be out of the office for the weekend but will check up on this thread when I return! Good luck!

  • I cannot get scrolling to work on DV6-6172nr. The 2 finger scroll is enabled & new drivers install

I cannot get scrolling to work on DV6-6172nr.  The 2 finger scroll is enabled but doesn't work. I have downloaded the latest drivers and still no vertical scrolling.  This could be a deal breaker. I have only had this laptop for 2 days and if I can't resolve this issue, the laptop is going back to the store.  Please help.

    Hi,
First, download the latest Synaptics driver installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp54001-54500/sp54483.exe
Next, open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry 'Synaptics Pointing Device Driver' and select Uninstall.
When this has completed, restart the notebook.
When windows has fully reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click the Synaptics installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again.  You may have to check that Two Finger Scrolling is enabled in the device settings tab under Mouse.
If this fails to correct the problem, I think I would agree with what you suggest yourself and simply return the notebook.

  • Deskjet 2540 6x4 photo printing not centreing image

I'm trying to print a photo in 6x4 size on this printer and every printer software we use seems to insert a huge border but only on one side of the page so the image is not centred. Any idea how we change this? Screen shot of the print preview below showing the wonky border spacing.
I've tried the pit to page tick box, I've tried editing the photo to insert a white border at the opposite side to the photo to try and move the image centrally but that didn't work and the border to the right remained the same size.
    Please help!

    Hi Jackettspud,
The HP Deskjet 2540 does not support borderless printing, its minimum bottom margins on Windows are 14.5 mm (0.57 inches).
(The bottom border appear to the right due the page orientation, this is actually the bottom margin of the print).
You will need to resize the image to include 14.5 mm on both of the sides.
That can be done using any basic editor such as Microsoft Paint.

  • HP Deskjet 812C won't print in black unless color is on the page

My mom's printer stopped printing in black unless some of the text is turned from black into a color (we picked red) anywhere on the page.
I removed the black cartridge and put the same one back in.
It printed one page of only black ink.  Then no more pages if they only had black text.
We replaced both the black and color cartridges with new cartridges.
Still refused to print in black unless some of the text on the page was in color.
    Seems extremely odd to us.
    Please help.  Any ideas?

I have the same problem.  I put in a new black cartridge and it prints fine for a while but then it stops printing all together.  I thenk have to copy and paste whatever i want to print if it is an email and put it in a word doc and then change the color.
The cartridge has been replaced 4 times and each time it is more than 1/2 full when i replace it.  I shake it and you hear the liquid.  They are ALLL BRAND NEW CARTRIDGES THAT I GET FROM STAPLES never refurbished or refilled.
    Please help
Are your cartridges Staples brand or HP?  All the Staples branded cartridges are remanufactured and suffer the same quality issues as many reman cartridges.
As above:   Check the warranty date or "install by" date on the package if still available or check the cartrdige warranty as shown here.  A cartridge that is very old (or one that has been remanufactured or refilled) may exhibit the symptoms you describe.  Replacing the cartridge with a fresh HP replacement would be the best option.  You may be able to recover your cartridge by soaking the cartridge with the nozzles down in about 1" of very hot (but not boiling) water for five minutes or so.

  • Cannot get my ipad to recognize my wireless printer.

I only have an iPad and hp netbook.  iPad does not recognize my wireless hp deskjet 3050a printer.  Don't know how to connect printer to my wireless network

It looks like if your printer is model 3050a j611, then it should be OK for that iPad.
Take a look at the following Apple setup instructions and see if that helps clear up the issue for you.

sorry to resurrect this issue, but I have reinstalled all drivers and updated firmware, but cannot connect wirelessly.  The set up is fine, but the bonjour version of the printer only lasts 1 second before going away.  I have had this product for a while and struggled when I first got it with this issue.  Finally i just accepted the fact that I bought a wireless product that needed to be hard wired.  Guess i should have saved some money or bought from a different company.  Now my 2 year old is mulling around and I need to wirelessly connect my printer in a location he cannot reach.
Please help me with this problem or I will be forced to PC Load Letter this printer.

  • Cannot get OS X v10.7.4 to print to Canon iRC4080

    First post ever, be gentle.
Just started a new job and my new Mac desktop running 10.7.4 cannot print to our office printer (Canon iRC4080). My computer is the only one running the latest version of OS X and as such cannot print.
I've downloaded the latest drivers from Canon, to no avail.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

In most countries there are two print controller options for the iR C4080. There is the internal Canon printer board and the external EFI "Fiery" print controller, called an imagePASS-H1.
If your iR C4080 is using the internal Canon printer board, then there are two print drivers available for Lion. The UFR2 v2.41 and the PS3 v3.51.
If the iR C4080 is using the Fiery then you can only use Postscript and it needs to be the correct Lion driver for the imagePASS-H1.
A quick way you can check which print controller you have is to open a web browser and type in the IP address of the iR C4080. This will connect to the internal web page of the copier and show which controller is being used (it will either say iR C4080 or imagePASS-H1).
So which one do you have?
