Can someone please help??? I received am IPad air in November for my birthday and have not been able to use yet, I could not get it to connect so I returned it for another iPad air. Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. If it doesn't support AirPrint then you could see if the printer manufacturer has their own app in the store which supports it (e.g. Epson have an iPrint app, and HP have an ePrint app). If not then there are third-party printer apps such as Print n Share and PrintCentral Pro which might work with it

When it comes to using AirPrint and it is not seeing your printer, the check the troubleshooting below to get it sorted out. You have already made sure it is on the same wireless network, so check to make sure that the printer does not need attention with any errors and check Epson’s website if there is any firmware updates for the printer.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). I will assum that you are using the latest version of iTunes 11. Do you even see the devices heading in the sidebar or do you even see the sidebar? If not, go to View>Show Sidebar from the iTunes menu so that it is visible.
If you have done all of that and the iPad still doesn't show up.....

Not knowing if you are using WiFi or cable syncing, you can simply try, quitting iTunes, reboot the Mac and restart the iPad and see if that helps.

IMO - and we are all entitled to our own opinions - I prefer to use iTunes. Heaven forbid if Apples servers ever go down - there will be mass hysteria and I have seen too many cases of "I just tried to restore from my iCloud backup and it have 8 gazillion app icons on the screen that say "waiting" - but once again - this is only my opinion.
And if you lose your Internet connection in the middle of an iCloud restore - what then? Nobody thinks of that kind of stuff - but hey - that's what makes this whole exchange of ideas so wonderful. We can all express our own opinions .... but that does not help you solve your situation.
What exactly is happening when you try to sync with iTunes? Maybe somebody can offer help instead of just useless opinions that do nothing to resolve your situation.
