HT1386 I cannot get my iphone to sync with itunes

I recently purchased a new iphone 5s, and I cannot get it to sync with my itunes. Last night I tried to sync and overnight it continued to stay on step 2, preparing to Sync and never went any further.

For resetting the sync history on a Mac running Lion - 10.7.x if needed.

If you see the Sync menu in the menu bar, skip to step 3:
If you do not see the Sync menu in your menu bar, skip to step 7.
Hold the Option key on your keyboard, then click the Sync menu in the menu bar:
if you see the Sync menu but you are unable to open it, skip to step 8.
Choose Reset Sync Services.
Click Reset Sync History.
Test for the original issue. If the issue persists, or if you are unable to open the Sync menu, follow these steps:
In the Finder, choose Utilities from the Go menu.
Open Terminal.
In the Terminal window, type or paste the following command on a single line:
/System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsync .pl full
Press Return.
Quit Terminal after the operation has completed (when Terminal returns to the command prompt with a $).

I have three computers (Dell and HP) two I phones and I cannot get the iphones to sync with the computers. I recently installed ITunes 11.0 on all computers and have no success getting iphones to sync since then. The iphones are a 4 and a 3S

I also can't get the home sharing to work...shouldn't I be able to get all libraries from all computers on both phones...if they would download? It tells be I have to delete the previous libraries to add the phone to a new computer.

My iphone 4 synced well with my previous laptop running Vista. I now have a computer running with Windows 8 but cannot get it to sync with iphone. It is backing up to icloud. successfully. Can anyone help as everything I have tried has failed?

How does iCloud have anything to do with this, you have 2 email accounts, neither of them an iCloud account?
If you want to get Gmail on your iPhone add it to your iPhone. Same goes for Outlook.

I cannot get my iPhone to sync with my Macbook.

Items that are on my iphone are not showing up on my Macbook. I have plugged them into one another to sync. Does this happen automatically if I have icloud and if I have checked the ical box for syncing? Also, is there a way to have them sync without physically connecting them?

I just had that problem out of the blue. Here's how I fixed it:
Go to iMessage and click on Preferences. Click on Account. Look at your iMessage account and make sure it is checked as "enabled". Mine was unchecked for some strange reason. I had never unchecked it.
All is good again for me. Hope this helps.

Hi i just got a mac book pro and i used my iPod(which has the same music as my iPhone) to transfer my music to my macs iTunes but now i am trying to figure out how to get my iPhone to sync with the iTunes on my mac so that when i download new music on my mac i can plug my iphone in and it with upadte that new music with my iphone. Right now if i press sync it syncs my iphone but it does not change anything. What can i do?

ITunes settings reset with every new version, and I get: "...the information on the iphone is synced with another user account"

Windows 7 64-bit with MS Outlook 2010. I've seen this now probably 10 times. When I first installed iTunes, I selected:
Preferences -> Devices -> "Prevent iPhonse, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically".
and on my iPhone, I selected:
Info -> Sync Contacts with: Outlook.
Info -> Sync Calendars with: Outlook
Info -> Other -> Sync notes with: Outlook
This works great, and the settings stick. As soon as apple releases any new version (even minor) of iTunes and I install, I immediately receive: "...the information on the iphone is synced with another user account", and have to merge my calendar and contacts, but then once I get into iTunes, I find that ALL of the above settings (prevent syncing, sync calendar, contacts, notes) get reset and are turned off! I am running as a user account with Admin privaleges, but I don't right-click -> "Run as administrator" when I perform the iTunes update.
To reiterate, once I change the settings back, things work normally until the next iTunes update at which it gives me that sync error, and resets my sync options.
Any idea? Thanks!

Is someone else using the PC and iTunes?
Create another user for the PC with your name, and try syncing that way.
This way it wont conflic with the other user.

You don't. Backup your itunes library on the old computer and move it to the new computer.

Re: check that the appointments in my phone are going into iCloud calendars....exactly how do I do this? I fear this is a really stupid question!
My iCloud account is set up with my Apple ID as one email account (for example [email protected]) which is the email account I use to sign up for internet sites like Amazon, Apple,etc, so that I can differentiate vendors/mass emails. But my default calendar on my iPhone is in a different email name (ie [email protected]) which I use for most communications to friends, relatives, etc. and it is this account that holds most of my appointments. To further complicate things I have other email accounts that I use for business/professional and community work. If I want all my calendars to show on my iPhone AND sync to my iCloud, do I set this at the phone level or the iCloud level? or both?
Let me clarify....It looks like if I go into appointments that I previously set up through my personal account (ie above [email protected]) and edit the entry on my iPhone, selecting the iCloud "home" calendar within the entry, it will then sync to my iCloud account, no problem....do I have to do this to EVERY entry I have? or is there a way to name my personal account as one to sync to iCloud?
