I cannot get my text to flow to following pages once I insert it.

Question

The chapter text box shows a plus sign in a small box at the bottom-center of the text box. I am a complete a neophyte. What do I do to make this all work. I need details. I am using the black and white template (the first one). My requirements are very simple as I'm creating a kids chapter book (4,000 words, 18 B/W illustrations). Thanks.

I still have a separate issue with the second page (right-side page) on the chapter template I chose. It used to have the b/w flower image, which I deleted.
Rememeber you do not have flowing text boxes on that  page. You  have the text box on the left. In place of teh image, you can insert another simple text box, drag it to size on the right.
Also remember it does not flow so you need to contrive and text to fit that box. OR you can  drop and image of your own on that side of the  page and if its not same size as the original placeholder "flower" image, add the text  box above or below to use as you can.
Before you get too deep into your project , let me add some suggestions to avoid confusion later.
if you have not already organised your books systems, this is mine:-
I have a folder in the "Documents"   current in use is named "iBooks 2014"  inside this I add a folder for each book I work on given the  name of the book. Inside that folder I save the "mybook.iba"  file, any duplicates or copies or variations of teh  book until its finalised and they can be dumped. I also save  teh exported book files and all screen shots and cover page images.   Everything related to the book is in one folder and not scattered all the hard drive.
I suggest you open another different template and remember that where you see any image,  you can drag and drop  your own image on top ( drop when you see the old photo get a blue line around it)  use a spare  book file to test things before you mess up your  project.
