hi, i have just downloaded mountain lion onto my mac but i cannot get safari 6 on it any help please regards jonmau

Safari 6 is included as part of the ML installation, so the Mac App Store won't let you download it again
If you go to About in Safari, what does it say?

    Hi,
the Intel Core Duo processor is a 32-bit only processor and not capable of 64-bit.
Only the Core 2 Duo and later processors are capable of 64-bit.
    Sorry

Use Tony's suggestion. I am running it right now and it is awesome. I love Mozilla but they basically screwed all of those older Macs over. Come on Mozilla. These Macs still work, and there are plenty of people with them out there.

    Hey, Buzz.
You can download the latest version of iTunes supported on Leopard here:

    I hope that helps.

  • I cannot get Juniper Host Checker to run since the latest Safari update

I have Safari 6.0.5 on OS X 10.8.4 and java 7_25. Ever since my laptop installed updates at the weekend, I can't get HostChecker to run. This is a java app that runs and checks out the suitability of my host to connect to my companys network. It was working fine Friday. So frustrating as I can't log in and work. I tried the article about switching to use java 6 but no luck - safari freezes right after I select "Don't block" when it starts running HostChecker. Any ideas please to help me stop getting stressed? Thanks

You might try a different browser like Firefox or Chrome.

Use Spotlight and search for "Activity Monitor." Then look for the Safari application to stop it. Or use this method to force quit http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/86010/ctrl-alt-delete-mac-equivalent
If the link above can't be seen, press OPTION+COMMAND+ESC on your keyboard to force quit applications.

when i click on safari to use the internet it says "safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet", but i am connected to a wifi network so how do i get safari to work?

you may be connected to the wireless network but the question is the internet working properly on the wireless network...
what i mean is that i can make a wireless network without the internet so i can save and share files and have other devices connected to the same network access them... but you have to make sure that your internet it running properly... may have to reconfigure the router is your using PPPOE or if it was working prior to your post then try to restart your modem... that usually resolves most issues.

  • "Cannot verify server identity" iPhone 4S on home wifi. I get this message on mail, safari, iCloud...

For the past few days every time my iPhone needs to load something, it will take a ridiculously long time to load if it loads at all. This includes loading email, iCloud settings, iTunes, safari pages, even apps that need an Internet connection. Starting this morning I get these errors. I get this error when I check my mail, try to surf on Safari, check my iCloud settings or open my Facebook app. When I open iTunes I get this message: "The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be 'itunes.apple.com' which could put your confidential information at risk."
I have tried shutting down my phone and turning it back on. I have also tried resetting all network settings.
I have switched to 3G and get the same above message from iTunes.
The 'cannot verify...' message has disappeared though. Multiple pages in Safari load just fine. I open Mail and get this message: 'cannot load mail, connection to the server failed.' My Facebook app will load and load and will finally fail to update content. iCloud will not connect and show another 'verification failed' message.
My iPhone wouldn't even let me use this site to submit the question. So I am using my iPad 2 running iOS 6.1.3 and everything is just fine. Everything that is not working on my phone is working on the iPad just fine.
(an additional note: I have a reminder with geo-fence set a mile away from my current location and it will periodically go off even though my location hasn't moved in hours... Do not know if this is related or not but it started happening at the same time)

I am having the same problem: I am getting several times a day on my iPad (3rd generation) and my iPhone 4S the messages:
    Cannot Verify Server Identity
The identity of "webdav.facebook.com" cannot be verified by Facebook.
Review the certificate details to continue.
    Every time, I choose cancel.
I don't know, what triggers this message (I am not actively using Facebook or any app that would try to access Facebook at the time when this failure messages happen.
I am using the newest iOS version (8.1.3).
    I am living in China.
I don't get the error messages when I am connected via a VPN.
So far that I remember - the problems started somewhere at the beginning of 2015.
The 'Not Trusted' Certificates are usually never the same. I did had - among others -:
    *.littletonpublicschools.net.
    lds140.securednshost.com
    auvisa.com
    langel.jp
    www.colesfinancialservices.com.au
    *wpengine.com and even
    localhost
What can be done? It's really annoying.

  • Cannot get Java Web plugin to work in Safari.

I have been using the JAva web plugin for a while, and managed to get past the problem with the Oracle Java 7 plugin successfully, but today, the Java web plugin is not working for me at all, and I'm struggling to find out why.
When I visit java.com and run their detection page, afer about a minute, it comes back with "We are unable to verify if Java is currently installed and enabled in your browser."
I've followed the advice at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5559 on how to re-enable the old Java 6 web plugin, I've tried reinstalling the Oracle plugin... but no matter what I do (restarting Safari, enabling disabling Java in Safari preferences, rebooting the Mac), I still cannot get it working in Safari.
This is a massive problem as website myself and my 20,000 colleagues use to log in to work remotely depends on the Java web plugin.  Right now (as in this morning)... the only option I have is to use a different OS (i.e. Windows).
Longer term, I really want to get this working on OS X again - any advice on further troubleshooting?

Apple has barred Java from running on Macs, leaving companies that rely on Java plug-ins out in the cold.
Apple blocked Java 7 Update 11 by adding it to the banned list in XProtect.
This is the second time in two weeks that Apple has blocked Oracle's code from running on Macs. This time Java is blocked through Apple's XProtect anti-malware feature.
Java has come under fire as the means by which hackers have been able to gain control of computers. In April 2012 more than 600,000 Macs were reported to have been infected with a Flashback Trojan horse that was being installed on people's computers with the help of Java exploits. Then in August Macs were again at risk due to a flaw in Java, this time around, there was good news for Mac users: Thanks to changes Apple has made, most of us were safe from the threat.
Unwilling to leave its customers open to potential threats Apple has apparently decided it's safer to block Java entirely.
Macs running OS X Snow Leopard and beyond are affected.

  • Cannot run Safari, iTunes, anything involving WebKit and JavaScript frmwks

Ok this seems to be an issue that plenty of people are having or have had. This happened to me after I tried to update Safari. I did the Safari update then updated from 10.3.9 all the way up to 10.4.11 and I cannot load pretty much any apps and like everyone else I have to use Firefox for the internet. I have repaired permissions, verified the drive, tried 'sudo softwareupdate -i -a' from Terminal and every other fix posted. I cant even run AppDelete to remove Safari as to try and reinstall it becaus e I get the same error as everything else. Console reports the same error for every program that I try to run that bounces twice and goes away and does run. I cant even use Adobe Reader 8 or install any of my Creative Suite for work. I've been Googling and searching for weeks now; I don't have the means to purchase an external device and backup everything and reinstall with a clean install which I'm sure is the end all be all fix so I am really hoping there is a fix or someone has overcome this problem in a manner which I can use. Here goes... The infamous error is:

All the same error!!! This is my very first Mac and any help would be greatly appreciated because I still have to use my PC just so I can listen to my music!

    Welcome to the forums!
I'm wondering why so many people haven't had this problem!? I haven't on about a coule dozen updates to 10.4.11.
Are you using the big Combo Updates when you do it, or the little Delta updates?
It seems Java is involved in this too, here's just the files in System where I found that Symbol"ZN3KJS11Interpreter4markEv"

I'd try reapplying the 10.4.11 Cobo Update & the Latest Java updates for a start.

  • I have safari 7.0.2 and OS 10.9.4, everytime I try to install a safari extension such as, Pocket, I get an error message that says, Cannot install extension, I get this with every one of them. Does anyone else have this problem?

I have Safari 7.0.6 and OS 10.9.4. I cannot install any extensions. Everytime I select install I get an error message, "Cannot instal extension" Does anyone else have this problem?
    Thanks Steve

Back up all data before proceeding.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags -h nouchg,nouappnd,noschg,nosappnd {} + -exec chown -h $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -h -N {} + -type d -exec chmod -h +x {} + 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • When I open Safari I get a ipad giveaway hoax that locksup the system and I cannot do anything but close safari, how do I get past this hoax?

Not sure how to get around a hoax about winning an Ipad, cannot click away to a new page, the home page no longer loads etc... All I can do is open and close safari.  Three seperate windows open up, two that talk about the Ipad and one little box that says click here to accept.

Which OS X version are you running?
To prevent the loading of the nasty stuff, try this -
Click the Safari icon in the Dock, then immediately press and hold Command-. (Command-periodkey). This should allow Safari to load and run, but prevent it from loading any specific page.
Then go to Safari's Preferences (in the Safari menu) and check your Homepage setting. You may need to redo it.
Before going anywhere on the web, I would also clear the History.

  • Disappointed with my new Ipad.  Cannot get youtube videos to run.  Videos run great on my Dell and Acer A210 tablet.  What am I doing wrong on the Ipad?

Cannot get my new IPad with Retina Display to run Youtube videos.  The IPad did run two videos but then it refused to run another video.  I have a Dell Inspiron and an Acer A210 Tablet that ran the same video I was trying to run on the IPad.  The Ipad just keeps trying to load the video, but never runs it.  Very disappointing since this is my first Apple product.  Any solutions to this problem?

What app are you using for the YouTube videos on your iPad? If trying to view in Safari it is likely that the videos not running use Flash. This is quite common and the iPad will not run Flash.
I use the Jasmine app for YouTube and have experienced no problems viewing videos.
