I cannot get wireless security setup via Linksys router web page

Help. I'm trying to reset my router. I've gottne through everything and all is setup and working but now I cannot setup the wireless security. I'm go to Wireless>Wireless Security, when trying to choose security mode I can select it, the page refreshes, but just goes back to 'Disabled'. I can't get pat this, I get nothing. Is my router fried and it just won't allow me to setup security? I've tried everything. I'm on a Mac, but dont believe that should make a difference. Is there another setting somewhere? I did change my password and name of the router, but that's all the farther I got. I've followed all of the steps and get stuck on the page and drop down. Driving me nuts!

I opened in Firefox and was actually able to choose WPA, the settings opened up and then the page locked up, refresh took me back to 'disabled'. Reopened in a new window, opened up again, entered the WPA shared key and after spinning for over 5 minutes, lost my connection and had to log in to join my now secure network...finally!!!!!! Thank you.

Best Wireless Security Settings-WRT54G Linksys Router

I've been running into problems attempting to set the wireless security settings for my router and then trying to connect to the internet from my iBook. As long as I enable SSID broadcasting I can find my router but the problem starts when I enable the security settings. The iBook will then ask for the password and nothing I've inserted works??? I'm at a loss. I've given up, those sorts of brickwalls can do a number on your head--major headache this weekend..so I will try again tomorrow. I thought the passphrase is your password--the only thing that I haven't tried (after searching the forums here) is putting the $ in front. Does anyone have this particular router that can give me some suggestions (in basic, simple terms please) that can help me get started on a good security setup so that I won't be scared someone in the neighborhood (as I've read previously) is scanning and can log onto my internet connection. Thanks!

Why in heaven would you want WEP to secure your network when you can have WPA which is more secure and doesn't have this kind of problems???
With the right tools (available free on the net) you can crack almost any WEP protected network in less than a day (I have done this with my friends to prove them how weak WEP is).
So imagine you set your WEP protected network, a neighbor crack it and use it, all of this while you CAN'T use your own network.
You should try WPA, good luck...
BTW: I have the same router, with WPA and SSID broadcast disabled.

I cannot get dropdown submenus to work on various web pages

For example, when I go to Realtor.com, I search in a particular zipcode. Then I would like to search the listings from, say, lowest price to highest price. When the listings initially come up, they are listed "recent listings" first. I can click on the window showing the other options, displaying them, but Firefox will not allow me to select a different listing. I also have this problem on the Fidelity.com site. Explorer allows me to do what I want.

OK, that is a Bluetooth mouse so open Windows Devices and Printers>Add a Device Toggle the power (on the mouse) off and then on. he mouse should appear in the window, follow instructions to add it.

Cannot get Wireless to work

I have a brand new W520 for my company and we cannot get wireless to work. Here is what I tried.
Clean install of Windows 7 Professional
Installed the ThinkVantage tools, including Access Connections.
Installed the drivers from the Lenvo Support site. Had to install manually as Lenovo System Update would not return anything for me to install, even when I had a ton of missing drivers.
Installed the ThinkPad Wireless LAN drivers for the wireless card in my system. I have the ThinkPad b/g/n card.
No wireless adapter is found for the wireless, just the Intel 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection which works fine for the wired connection.
The wireless radio is on. I flipped the switch mutliple times. The screen seems to flicker when I flip it but nothing happens.
ThinkVantage Access Connections says "No supported wireless adapters are installed on the system" when I click "Manage Wireless Radio".
I verified the card is seated properly and the connections are all tight.
I ran a PC Doctor scan (from boot disk) against the wireless card and it Passed.
In Device Manager I have two items remaining that show issues.
Base System Device
Network Controller
I can't seem to resolve those two items in device manager with any of the drivers I've found on the Lenovo support site.
Any suggestions?

Check in the BIOS whether it's enabled, F1 to enter the BIOS, it should be under Config -> Networks.
Also, can you let us know what does the sticker on the card say? Does it say Intel Wimax 5150 or 5350?
Try the following driver, the one on this support page is incorrectly linked as ThinkPad driver when it's not (or unless the ThinkPad card in your system is from Intel which I highly doubt):- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-76909

Browser cannot display E3200 router web page from ethernet connection but can from wireless

I have installed my E3200 downstream from the Verizon FiOS Actiontec (going the other way disables FiOS functions).
1. My browser can get to the E3200 (192.168.1.2) when connected via wireless, but not when connected via ethernet cable.
     How do I fix that?
2. When going to connect wirelessly, the 2GHz connection is visible but the 5 GHz connection is not
     (I have them named differently).
     How do I see both wireless connections?

My browser cannot get to my E3200 setup web page from a wired Ethernet connection (wireless works fine).
The Linksys E3200 (1Gb ethernet, “n” wireless) is installed downstream from a Verizon FiOS Actiontec router (10/100 ethernet, “g” wireless).
I cannot put the E3200 upstream from the Verizon router because I would lose FiOS TV capabilities.
The E3200’s fixed IP address is 192.168.1.2 (the Verizon router is 192.168.1.1)
I cannot change the subnet (e.g. to 192.168.2.x)
Clearing the browser cache and rebooting both routers doesn’t help.
Both computers tested have dual band “n” network adapters.
So... wireless connection works fine, but I cannot get to the setup page via wired ethernet.
Help?

Setting up your wireless connection in your router.
1.Open Internet Explorer and type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar.
2.You will now get a sign-in box, User Name = (Leave Blank)
                                                       Password = admin (all lower case letters)
3.Once the set-up page opens, click on the Wireless Tab as youwill need to change the settings. A) Wireless Network Mode = Mixed
              B) Wireless Network Name (SSID) = Choose any name and do not use Linksys.
              C) Wireless Channel = 1, 6 or 11 is best, so see which work best for you.
              D) Wireless SSID Broadcast = Enabled.
4. Now go to the bottom of the page and click on save settings.
5. Click on the Wireless Security Sub tab.
              A) Security Mode: WPA
              B) WPA Algorithms: TKIP + AES
              C) WPA Shared Key: Type 24 letters, and numbers using lower and upper case letters
              D) Group Key Renewal: 3600
6. Once again go to the bottom of the page and click on Save Settings.
7. Now you can close out of this page.
8. You will now need to enter the security info into your computer. I will now give you 2 links, depending which operating system you have, Vista or XP you will follow the one you have.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Cannot get wireless scanner to work

wireless printing to my HP Officejet Pro 8500 works fine but I cannot get the scanner to work - it fails to even communicate with the HP device. My operating system is Windows Vista. The error message I get when trying to use the scanner by clicking on the "HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910 Scan" icon is "Scanner communication cannot be established."
