I cannot hit the "install" or purchase button on my ipod touch to get a new app

I have an ipod touch and I can click everywhere EXCEPT the "purchase"/"install" buttons in the app store...therefore I cannot get any new apps. What's up?? I'm running an older ios 3.1.3 on it and I wonder if I should update? Will that fix my problem? Will I lose the music I put on my ipod from my daughters apple id/itunes account???

Have you moved or deleted those tracks on your computer (the gift card has got nothing to do with it) ?
You might be able to re-download them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes (re-downloading isn't possible in all countries) - if those songs appear there then delete the entries from your iTunes library (where you are clicking on them to play them and gettinf the 'original file' error), and they should then get a cloud symbol against them for re-downloading.
If they don't appear in that link then have you got them on, for example, an external drive ?

What version of iOS is running on your iPod? You need iOS 4.3.3 or later to have access to previous purchases for downloading.

Why wont the movie i purchased sync to my ipod touch?

i just updated my ipod touch 1st gen to 3.1.3 and i bought a movie last night to put on it. i purchased monster-in-law for $10. after it took 3 hours to download, it said it couldnt sync in to my itouch because my itouch doesn't support it. do i need to convert it or what? did i just waste my money? :/

When I touch the "photos" icon on my 4th gen iPod Touch, I get a page entitled "Albums" - it's white, with many lines. At the very top of the screen, almost shadowed behind the word "albums" I can see the thumbnail of my album. But I can't access it.

Bring up the Multitask bar by double clicking on the home button, search for the photo app icon, tap on it until it starts to shake, hit the minus icon in the left corner to close the app.
Close the task bar again and start the photo app again, this time it should work.

If AppleCare, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

You have to use a computer to get from iOS 4.1 to iOS 6,
which is the current version. Any future updates from iOS 6
will be done over the air using wireless. Use the computer of

If you power off the iPod, it will turn back on if you connect it to a charger like a wall charger or a computer. I just checked with a charging source to confirm. I knew it did it with a computer.

If you dont have a wi-fi at home, try to go in some public places (Restaurants,Malls etc) to find some wi-fi connections.

Log in to iTunes, go to "view your account info" on the itunes store, deauthorise all five,
