I cannot import media into Elements 12 Editor

I would like to import a video or frames from a video resp. into Photoshop Elements 12 Editor to create GIFs. But the import function is not even active.
Do I need to activate something here? Or do I need to deactivate something in the Elements Organizer?
I am working with OS X Yosemite.
Thanks!

Adobe stop shipping photoshop elements with the Import>Frame from Video because it's outdated and the plugin is a 32 bit plugin and doesn't work in pse 12 or 13, which are 64 bit applications on mac os x.

  • Can't import Media into FCP X

In the last week or two when I try to import media into FCP X I end up with a very dark and locked import screen.  The only way I can recover is to force quit FCP X.  It doesn't always happen but it is getting more and more frequent.
I have not updated to Marverik and I'm running the latest version of FCP X on the same iMac I have used since installation.
Any suggestions beacuse it really is starting to beome very, very frustrating.
    Thanks

They system is hanging up, waiting on some command to finish, which is not able to.  So let's look at ways to fix this.  Becasue you never want to do an upgrade to fix problems.  Only upgrade a proerly working system.  Otherwise, you may just be hauling old problems into a new envoronment, and making things worse.  I've seen it a lot over the years.
First, verify that all of your drives have at least 15% of their total capacity as free space.  Not enough free space on any dirve can cause similar odd behaviors.
Second, you need to do some housee cleaning.  Start by downloading and running the free application "Preference Manager" from Digital Rebellion (dot com).  Use it to trash the FCPX preference files.  It is easy and safe to you.  None of your media or projects will be touched.  After that, run Disk Utility to "Repair" all of your drives (ignore "Verify", total waste of time).
If none of that helps, I'd recommand you download the free application "FCS Remover" from Digital Rebellion.  Use it to uninstall FCPX.  Some folks say to just move the app from the Applications folder to the Trash.  That leaves a bunch of other files hanging around that could be bad.  Use this app.  Once you've uninstalled FCPX, launch the App Store, go to the Purchases section, and FCPX will have an "Install" button.  Reinstall a fresh copy, see if that helps.

  • Cannot import CDs into iTunes, disc is corrupted and unreadable error.

Cannot import CDs into iTunes, keep getting disc is corrupted and unreadable error. Advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the reply!
I downloaded the program and ran it, got to the point where it says I have errors that need to be fixed... but it appears I have to pay for the rest of the program to actually repair these errors. Is this incorrect?
If I do have to pay, then I'd like to look for an alternative... the program is $40; of course, that's cheaper than buying a new iPod, but I want to avoid that too.

  • Cannot import clips into iMovie 08

I have a few clips that were spliced together with QTPro and now I cannot import them into iMovie08. I have checked the movies themselves and I do not see any specific info that would cause a problem.
I cannot drag and drop the clips into iMovie nor can I use the import function, as the .mov files are greyed out.
This didn't happen before I upgraded to QT Pro.

    AAC, MPEG-4
For the moment will assume you mean QT MPEG-4 here and not something like Microsoft's non-standard variation. (If not QT then please advise.) In the case that it is QT MPEG-4, did any of the source files contain extraneous tracks like an iPhoto slideshow with its "Tween" track. Such extraneous tracks are not understood by iMovie '08 and it will reject their import. If so, then use QT Pro to delete the extraneous track(s)

  • Cannot import files into iPhoto

I have home movie files on an external hard drive that were downloaded there from my old Windows XP computer.  They are ".mov", ".mpg", and ".avi" file extensions.  When I try to import them into iPhotos on my iMac, running OS X Mavericks, I get a dialog box stating that they cannot be imported.  How do I get these movies onto my iMac.  Thank you for your help!

There must be compatible with Quicktime formats:
Media formats supported by QuickTime Player
If you can open the movies with Quicktime, save or export within the app to a compatible format. Otherwise you'll have to use another 3r party software to convert those movies, or use another player to view the movies without converting them, but does will not fix your issue with iPhoto.

  • Problems importing Media into iMovies '11

I am unable to import Media using the Media Buttons on the right of the screen which are permanently greyed out.  I have researched various forums and seen advice to delete a file from the Library>Preference folder in your Home Profile in Finder but none of these folders exist in my Home Profile and when I search the whole machine for the file required to be deleted, it does not appear to exist anywhere at all.  My Library>Preference Files appear to be directly under the "MacIntosh HD" Drive in Finder but as I say, hte one that needs deleting is not there.
Anyone any idea how I resolve this or re-install iMovies.  Content is not a huge issue as I don't have much on there for now.
    Exasperated!!

Hi - I found this on a Google Search for the question as no-one seems to be answering this.
According to Apple official website, we know that iMovie can import DV, MPEG-4, MPEG-2, MOV, and M4V. And MP4 files commonly defines the storage of MPEG-4 audio and scenes using the ISO Base Media File Format, this kind of MP4 can be imported into iMovie without question. But the MP4 files may also contain any number audio and video codec, and sometimes even subtitle streams included. And that kind of MP4 cannot import into iMovie on Mac.
As we know the reason why we sometimes can't import MP4 to iMovie on Mac, we should got an idea to solve that question. Actually it is very simple, we just need to convert MP4 to iMovie compatible formats. And here I advise you to use our professional Mac MP4 to iMovie Converter. It is specially designed for Mac users to deal video questions. The converting speed and high output quality will fulfill your need. Using our Mac MP4 to iMovie Converter you can set the resolution, frame rate, bit rate to possible high, and you can also trim, crop, rotate, apply your video effect to the video.

  • I have upgraded to Mavericks and I now cannot import DV into FCP through the capture presets.

Since upgrading to Mavericks, I cannot import DV vision through my Sony FX-1E. I have tried various connections - DV to Firewire 400 + 800 with no success. I now have to get the vision ingested at another facility and exported to a hard drive in order to edit.
Is there a way I can get vision into FCP?

FCP (not FCPX) is legacy software, now EOL and not designed or guaranteed to work with Mavericks, some people report no problems others do, it depends on your setup. I'd suggest using iMovie to capture your footage then transfer to FCP to save using (or paying) another facility. An alternative (and my own solution) is a second boot drive with 10.8.5 and FCP 7 which still works OK.

  • Importing folders into Elements

I've had Elements 11 for some time and can't use it as I can't seem to find a way to import an existing folder structure of images. It imports it flat, with every subfolder and parent folder listed on the same level, so my organisation is shot to hell.
I'm sure it's me being dumb, (but in fact it's Elements being incredibly un-intuitive) but can someone point me to how to import an existing folder structure with many images, retaining the structure after import?
Actually thinking about it, I can barely remember how to import at all, I found it quite difficult to achieve and I think I might have drag and dropped some files?

There are two views of folder in PSE11. One is the flat fodler view which you able to see on the UI by default. You may switch to tree view of folders by clicking Cmd+T or Ctrl+T or by clicking the small icon just infront of "My Folders" label in the left panel.
To import media from a folder hierarchy, you may choose too right click on corresponding folder in tree view of folders and choose "Import Meida". Or you may import using File >> get Photos and Videos >> From files and folders.
    Thanks

  • Import iphoto into elements 11 organizer

i,m about to import photos from iphoto into elements 11 organizer. there is an option to have organizer convert events from iphoto into albums, is there an advantage to doing this, if i don't choose that option will it make adifference.

Albums in Elements are ways to give a name to a group of pictures and saving the order in which the pictures are stored. It's easy to find a given group by its name (like a keyword) while keeping their sort order. I don't know anything about iphoto, but I think it would be a pity to lose such useful information.
The main differences between albums and keywords is that keywords (tags) can be saved in the file themselves whereas the albums are only saved in the database (catalog). The second difference is that albums enable sorting the pictures.

  • I cannot import music into itunes

I use the request "add folder to itunes" but the files do not appear in my library. Neither does the request "add files to itunes". I am using windows and have the newest available version of Itunes. What can I do to successfully import multiple folders into itunes?

You don't import files into the iTunes Media Folder. You import into iTunes. Post your iTunes issues in the iTunes forum:

  • Importing raw into elements 8

I have owned elements 8 for about 12 months and only recently purchased by first dslr - a Nikon D3100.    During a recent holiday I shot in jpeg+raw.  Now I can't import my raw files into elements 8 only the jpeg.  My elements has the 5.5.0.97 raw plug in, apparently my camera needs 6.3 but elements 8 only supports up to 6.2.  Do I need to upgrade to 9 or is there another option?

You can buy Elements 9, now, or it seems that Elements is usually released in Aug-Sept timeframe so you might wait a few weeks and buy Elements 10.
If you want to wait for PSE 10, then in the mean time you can convert your NEF files to DNGs and then the older version of ACR with Elements 8 will open them.  It is probably a good idea to update PSE 8 to the latest ACR that it supports, also using the Updates page and then finding the Elements-specific instructions for ACR 6.2.
To convert to DNGs you should use the latest version of the DNG Converter, which you can download via the dropdown list at the top of the Adobe Updates page:

  • Importing photos into Elements

My saved photos on my pc are not visible when I attempt to import into Elements.  Why?

So right after posting the question, I decided to try to first import into the file system and then import from the file system, and that worked. But its a pain because it changes my workflow.
A possible workaround: You could use Windows Live Photo Gallery to download into your folders; the WLPG downloader is pretty good (WLPG is the version you download from Microsoft, not the one built in to Vista).  Then you could use the Organizer's File > Watch Folder feature to automatically import new photos that get added to your folders by the downloader.
Do you use lightroom? Do you recommend it?
I don't use Lightroom, but it has a very good reputation.  I know some other posters here use it.

  • Help with importing files into elements catalog?

I recently downloaded HD home video's to my computer and when I open Pre elements 9.0 it gives me the message saying new files have been downloaded since last launch of elements organizer. Elements will now import these files into a catalog. it starts and listed the mov file but is stuck and will not respond.
    Any idea's?

    jsguild
What is the format of these HD home video's that you are trying to import into Elements Organizer 9?
Try importing one of them into a Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 new project and determining if a copy of the video gets automatically placed in Elements Organizer 9.
    More later.
