  • I cannot add music from my computer onto my itunes library.

I cannot add music from my computer onto my itunes library. I have tried dragging the songs, importing them, going to Add files and Add folders, copy and pasting. They just won't turn up in my itunes library.

You don't say where you are having problems.  The best answer will depend upon what exactly you are trying to do.  If you are trying to add one or two files, copy them to a flash drive, then drag them from the drive to an iTunes playlist.  If you are trying to move your whole library that requires a different answer.
Note .wma files will work with iTunes on a PC but cannot be added to a Mac iTunes.  Convert them to another format on the PC first (but I don't think you can do that if they are protected format).

if the copy files ... when adding option is checkmarked in iTunes > preferences > advanced, files you transfer via homesharing are copied permanently to the other library.

  • I can't import music from my computer into Itunes

I've been trying to import music from my computer into Itunes, And it isnt working
I have the latest version of Itunes
When I try adding the files by clicking add file in Itunes or by dragging, it does nothing
I know it means that the file is incompatible with Itunes, But I have put the same type of file into Itunes before with no issues (MP3)

    Hey Haley.1182,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are having trouble importing music into iTunes. A frustrating situation for sure. The first article should help get the music imported. The second article shows what formats are compatible with iTunes.

  • Updated to 12.1.0.71 and cannot import music from a cd or from a folder.

Updated to itunes 12.1.0.71 and now cannot import music from a cd or from a folder.  I ran the diagnostics test, and itunes can find the cd, but will not import it.  Itunes will play the cd though.
Any suggestions?  Is there a bug fix coming?
    Thank you.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.
Or roll back to the previous build:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)
You may want to install QuickTime also. Links in the user tip.

  • How do I import music from itunes to my iphone4?

How do I import music from itunes to my iphone4?

Connect iPod or iPhone to your computer and open iTunes.
Select your iPod or iPhone in the Devices section on the left side of the iTunes window.
In the main iTunes browser window, select Music.
Select the option to Sync Music.
You have the option to sync all songs and playlists or selected playlists. Your iPod will need to have enough free space to sync the content that you have selected from your library. Tip: You can use the capacity bar at the bottom of the iPod settings window to determine how much free space is available. The size of a playlist can be determined by selecting it and looking at the bottom of the iTunes window.
You can also automatically sync podcasts to your device. Select the Podcasts and choose to sync all podcasts or selected ones. You can also determine which episodes are synced based on if they are recent, new, or unplayed.
Click Apply and iTunes will begin syncing the audio content you've selected to your iPod or iPhone. The iTunes LCD will display the sync progress and notify you when the sync is complete.
To disconnect your iPod or iPhone, select it under Devices and click the eject icon next to it.

  • Importing music from different computer

I want to import music from a friend's computer (both her and my computer are macs). How do i a) do this without erasing all my music already on my ipod b) just select a few of her songs.
    Thanks,
    corinne

Set the iPod to manage music manually, and then drag the songs from the second computer to the iPod; you can drag individual songs. You will then need to keep the iPod in manual mode to keep all the music from both machines on it.

  • Cannot import music from cd

    itunes 11.4 (18)  /  Mac os x 10.9.5
For some reason, itunes has stopped importing music from music cd's. It will recognise the cd, download the track names, but when I go to import the songs, the import process just skips through the tracks, witout actually importing the music. The my iTunes library will then show that music is in there, but the tracks are all between 10-80kb and contain no music.
wondering if anybody else is having this issue And / or knows how to rectify it?

    Hello Josh,
So with songs not importing I can think of two troubleshooting options. The first is change the way iTunes imports the songs; either MP3 or AAC format should work. If that still does not work then I would look at the second article for troubleshooting the SuperDrive on your Mac.

  • HELP!!!  Cannot transfer music from one computer to another?

I have an older computer with itunes 7 and several purchased and music from CD's burned. The issue is that the older computer's cd-rw drive is broke. I just purchased a new computer. How do I get the music from my old computer into itunes on my new computer. I am using the 5th Gen 30GB ipod and have all of my music and podcasts on the ipod.

I'm sorry i've been the only one replying you, i myself am waiting for replies on my own question.
My advice is that there is no fail-safe device that can protect your files safely forever. The safest way is still to have more than 1 backup. You have your ipod and an external drive so thats 2 options, provided there's enough space. Remember the link i gave you in my 1st post? I just read about a 'Consolidate library' option and i felt it can be useful.
Let me give you an example using Windows PC:
I have 'Song A' on my desktop and 'Song B' in \My Documents\My Music. Assuming my itunes library is empty with no songs, by dragging these two songs into your itunes' music page, they will be added to your library. You should also know that unless you delete Song A from your desktop or move it to another location in that same PC, Song A will always play when u double-click it on itunes, this is basic information.....Ok, now i have 2 songs in my library, but they are in 2 diff directories of my PC. Go to the Advanced tab in iTunes and click 'Consolidate Library', this will create 1 new copy of Song A and B each in your \My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music folder. Now connect your back-up device, it can be your ipod or an external drive, *copy the whole iTunes folder in the 'My Music' folder into your back-up device and back up is done,* according to the webpage.
Just give it a try. Provided:
    1) you have enough disk space in your PC
    2) the original song file is still in your PC, somewhere. If an '!' appears next to a song name in iTunes, this means the original song file has either been deleted or moved to a new location within the PC, you'll need to find the song file so that iTunes can update its brain as to where the file has ended up in.
    3) you have enough disk space in your back-up device,
you should be able to do a back-up. Connect the back-up device into your new PC and copy the iTunes folder into the new PC's 'My Music' folder. Open iTunes in your new PC and it should extract the Music Library from the iTunes folder you just pasted from the back-up device.
Do you have songs in your new PC? Try the 'Consolidate Library' option on that PC first or any PC that has lesser songs cos by using this option, additional disk space is taken up to create the copies in the \My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music folder. Try to understand how this option works so that if you eventually do backup you won't accidently delete songs from either PC. It may be complicated, but do read up the link i provided earlier for more info...Cheers!

  • Cannot import addresses from old computer

I can't seem to import the Thunderbird addresses from my old computer to the new one. The import function simply stops. I waited for it several times, tried twice, gave up.

What are you trying to import from?
The import functions in Thunderbird are generally aimed at users switching from a different email program.
If you are moving Thunderbird from one computer to another, the best way is to copy its profile to the new computer.

  • Exporting and Importing music from one compute to another

I have just downloaded i-tunes onto my Dell notebook. I want to get the same music library from my HP computer on to my Dell so I have the same music. How do I go about that? I can't seem to get the info I need. Hopefully someone out there and help me.
    Thanks, Sami

Yes I am trying to do the same thing via Home Sharing.
Just bought a new macbook for my son, who ofcourse wants certain songs from my itunes, he can see and play my songs via home sharing aslong as my MBP is open and on, but as soon as its off, he loses the itunes.
I have tried to drag my music via homesharing onto his music folder in itunes but it won't drag.
is there a simple setting, it won't do that, I have to do it the old fashioned way, or something else ?
