I cannot import videos using home sharing
I followed the instructions for setting up home sharing on our laptops. One machine is using Windows XP, and the other is using Windows 7. Both have the latest updates for iTunes and both are authorized. I have turned off (and back on) home sharing, I have authorized and deauthorized and then re authorized both computers. I can see libraries on both machines. When I tried to import a video from his machine to mine, it told me that "this machine is not authorized" meaning mine. I am at a loss as to what I am not doing. I have tried to re authorize both machines and get a message box telling me the machine is authorized. Is this a problem in the newest version of iTunes?? I have no idea what to do next. I wanted to put movies on my iPad, and all of our compatible movies are on his machine. Can someone help me out?

Can't import songs using home sharing
Just bought a new macbook pro laptop, and I can't import my music library from my iMac using home sharing.
The library shows up as shared, but I can't drag any music into the library on my laptop.
Help would be greatly appreciated because I'm extremely frustrated.I am curious as well. I also just bought a MacBook Air to use in addition to my iMac. I just made some purchases on iTunes and homesharing only allows you to stream, not physically sync the media back and forth, which is what I want.
This is going to be really annoying.. -
Import library using home sharing
I can my other computers library, however i am not getting the 'settings' button on the bottom right to allow me to import everything onto my new computer...HELLLPPPPPP
Thank you.To transfer your songs, don't use Home Sharing. It uses your network to transfer the songs, and it will be so slow (days or weeks to transfer 82 GB).
Instead, you can copy the whole iTunes library to an external disk and transfer it to your new iMac > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751 This is much faster and useful, because you will transfer all your iTunes data from your old Mac, not only songs -

Unable to import music using home sharing?
My family and I used to have a shared iTunes account on an HP desktop computer. Over the years we have created our own accounts and since I just got the iPhone 4s I thought I should make my own. I have iTunes 10 and Windows Vista (I am using an HP laptop). I authorized my computer and created a home sharing account so I could transfer my music on to my laptop. I read the directions on the Apple website and followed all the directions until it says "Click the import button in the lower right hand corner." There's one small problem...there's no import button! I've also tried copy and paste, and that doesn't work either. Please help me and thank you

How do I drag and drop files between computers when using Home Sharing in ITunes?
How can I drag music files between computers while using Home Sharing? An older version of ITunes had a Home Sharing icon in the column browser near the playlist so it was easy to drag and drop.

Hey everyone. So at work we are trying to figure out another way to shoot speeches and have them available for the customer to review instantly. We were thinking about using Home Sharing to do this, to sync these videos to an iTunes library. However, it seems to only work the other way around, from iTunes to the iPad. The problem is is that when you take videos or pictures with your iPad they go immediately to your camera roll. Is there any way to sync videos you have taken with the iPad to iTunes using Home Sharing? Thanks!
Not sure about the Home Sharing method.

The content manually inserted into the Description field in iTunes does not display in either the iPad Video App nor when using Home Sharing. I then used MetaX to populate the Long Description field, which one cannot modify directly in iTunes. However, the descriptions still do not show up on either the iPad or when using Home Sharing. The problem is only with TV shows that I ripped from legitimate DVDs; items bought from iTunes seem to work fine. So I opened up a file bought on iTunes with MetaX, and the Long Description field is not even populated leading me to believe Apple had that information stored elsewhere. This is getting so frustrating, and Apple customer care does not seem to care.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? Where has Apple hidden the long descriptions for TV shows that do show up on Home Sharing? Is there other 3rd party software that may fix the problem? Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!Go to the form login and select the mistake with the arrows and press the Delete button, soon the mistake will be deleted

I am trying to import songs to my new macbook pro from my old computer using home sharing. Both computers say that home sharing is now on but neither show up in each other's library menu. I am logged on with the same apple id for both computers. and both are on a stable wireless connection
Logging into itunes store on each machine wth different Apple IDs is OK Autorising each others machines with the other Apple ID is OK. This is completley separate from Home Sharing
For Home Sharing to work you need to
File > Home Sharing > Create Home Share.
You need to select one of the two Apple IDs you are using and ENTER THIS ON BOTH MACHINES WHEN CREATING THE HOME SHARE.
Home sharing will then work -
When I use Home Sharing, I can see the library I want to copy under Shared, but I can't get it save on the computer under the regular library. I go to edit and "select all" but there is no import button that is in the right hand corner. Also, it will not let me click and drag the music. How do I get it from one computer to the other?
Since both computers are connected via the network, you could simply copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from one computer to another via the network.
If both computers are running Windows, use the Easy File Transfer Utility built into Windows to move iTunes and all other user media/data. -
How long does it take to import a library using home sharing?
I have about 82GB of music on an older iMac and want to import it permanently into the iTunes on a newer iMac but have never done this before.
Before I start, I'd like to know if I'm going to be tying up my computers for a week!
Should I go for the whole 4,000-plus songs at once, or should I try to plod through playlist by playlist and tell it each time not to import songs that may already be in the new computer. (If I do that, will the song show up in the playlists anyway?)
How have other users approached this with large libraries and what has their experience been like? I'm so glad there's a community here to share their experiences and help other Apple owners!
Thanks so much for any and all responses! To transfer your songs, don't use Home Sharing. It uses your network to transfer the songs, and it will be so slow (days or weeks to transfer 82 GB).
