I cannot install addons with 4.0b12!

I've been trying to install Stylish from addons.mozilla.org for the last few hours and after clicking the link I am asked to restart as usual. However upon restarting the addon is not there and it's as though I have not done anything at all. I've tried installing from a file as well and the same issue occurs.
I emailed the developer about this and he suggested it might be a problem with firefox and upon further inspection I don't seem to be able to install any addons. I've been through the 'unable to install addons' FAQ and it has not proved helpful as all of my about:config settings are as they should be and I also tried deleting extensions.ini/rdf (could not find .cache) in my user profiles folder.
Can someone please tell me what might be going on? It's driving me crazy. Note: this also appears to be happening on 3.6.14, which is still installed.

I figured it out. When I was using firefox 3.x I'd installed an addon called Memory Fox to cut down on ram usage as it would habitually creep up to 1GB+ during the course of a day, well when I installed 4.0b12 I deleted the addon, but not the external application that runs in the background. I noticed it was still running, ended it via the task manager, and now everything works and I can install addons again!
I am glad I don't need to create a new profile as that's a royal pain :X

I am with xfce currently and though of tring KDE. However when I tried to install KDE it turns that there are confilicts between 'kde' and 'python-numpy':

python-numpy was installed via "pip install numpy" instead of "pacman -S python-numpy". Could this cause any problem?

Generally it is less pain to stick to pacman only. Using anything else would mean pacman cannot know what packages certain files belong to, similar to what you ran into here.

I have Oracle8i 8.1.7 installed and running well. Now,, I try to install FormsReports6i. However, I got message: "The location is already used as an Oracle home for Oracle 817 product. It cannot be used as Oracle home for 'nt'". If I select different location, then I have two kinds of service: OracleHome81 and OracleHomeNT, and they cannot run at the same time. When I was using old version (Oracle 8, 8.0.6) it did not have this problem. Any suggestion?

Thanks! However, I could not find Net8 Easy Configure. On another system that has Oracle8 (not Oracle8i 8.1.7) I did find Net8 Easy Configure which has "Add new service". On this Oracle8i I found only Net8 Configure Assistant, which does not provide "Add new service". Are you talking about Oracle8? I need to get a version of Oracle Developer compatible with Oracle8i (8.1.7).

[solved] cannot boot from dd usb and cannot install 64 with unetbootin

hi,
been trying to install arch for almost 24 hours now. i just cannot manage to setup USBs to boot from.
first i was using unetbootin, but when the device not found error came up i tried using the methods recommended in the wiki. however, my hp elitebook 2540p cannot boot from the usb created using dd or imagewriter. so i went back to unetbootin and figured out the error was that the syslinux.cfg file needed to have ../../ replaced by archisobasedir=arch archisolabel=KINGSTON. now however, i cannot seem to figure out how to install a 64 bit system. when i run pacstrap all packages have i686 at the end, which i assume means its the 32 bit one.
help
EDIT: ok i have now used 3 different USB sticks and run
sudo dd if=~/Downloads/archlinux-2012.07.15-netinstall-dual.iso of=/dev/sdd
on them. plugging them into the 2540p the laptop just wont boot. it wont get past the first hp screen, where i normally press esc to enter the menu so i can choose boot options. the usb just blinks and nothing happens. this same problem happens with imagewriter in windows.

i wrote exactly
sudo dd if=~/Downloads/archlinux-2012.07.15-netinstall-dual.iso of=/dev/sdd
as mentioned in the edit above, the computer wont get past the hp screen where one gets the option to press the esc key... the usb just blinks and nothing happens...

no the usb was not mounted...
the image was checked with both sha1sum and md5sum...

ok so i think i am in... i reformatted the usb with fat filesystem, and then went through the second instructions from the wiki, ie installing "Without overwriting the USB stick"... But i am still wondering why i couldnt just do the normal dd method. Is it that the hp bios cannot read certain filesystems?

Qosmio F10 - cannot install WXP with new HDD

My F10 doesn`t start from hard disk anymore and because of the obvious sound from the hard disk it is certainly broken. I have changed the build in Toshiba hard disk with 80GB for a Toshiba hard disk with 60GB.
I put a Windows XP Installation disc into the drive and pressed C at the start for booting from the CD. It doesn`t start the installation but instead it says that I have to remove the hard disc.
Why? Is it only possible ti install an identical hard disc because there is no bios?

Hi, I just bought Logic Studio and in te installation process, the compressor option is greyed out is set to skip. Ive tried intalling the rest and it didnt work. I uninstall everything didnt work either.
What could I do to be able to install compressor?

Installed a new HHD, cannot install Windows8 with the USB I made previously as a recovery media

Restoration Incomplete shows up
can only select "save log" "details" and "retry"
I clicked retry and a window "Insert recovery media"
and my USB is plugged in to the USB2.0 port
laptop model : envy m6 1119dx
I tried force shut down and removed the USB and restart but the same happened again.

Try this,
Go to BIOS, change the date to 2012 (not too older date, try some sate in december 2012), save and exit. run the recovery using your USB recovery media.
once recovery completes, change the date to current date. remember if you do not change the date back to today's date, windows activation may fail. dont worry too much - if activation fails once, dont worry just change the date on next boot it will activate after next reboot (if you have internet connected).

I already had my doubts about this but wanted to confirm:
You cannot install windows with the system disk from a Viao, Dell,
Hewlett Packard, etc...??? You must have the plain Windows disks, correct?

since most of the Windows Discs that are bundled with a PC are not full versions, but merely 'restore' discs, they simply won't work.
Apart from that these Windows Licenses are tied to the computer with which they were bought, so that from the legal point you are not able to 'Activate' them again.
