I cannot install any MSI files Windows 7 Home Premium.

Hi,
I have searched forums and have not found anything to fix this problem... I can't even install Office!
I get the following error when trying to open any MSI file:
"Windows Installer"
"This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and you can access it, or cantact the application vendor to verify that it is a valid Windows Installer Package.
Please help me with this microsoft!

Hi Eddy,
Based on
Sai Siva Kumar's suggestion,
Please try the following methods to solve this issue:
Method 1: Create a new user account
To open User Accounts, click the
Start, click Control Panel, click User Accounts and Family Safety, and then click
User Accounts.
Click
Manage another account.  If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Click
Create a new account.
Type the name you want to give the user account, click an account type, and then click
Create Account.
For your information, please review this article
Create a user account to learn more about how to create a new user account.
Method 2:
Change Environment Variables
Right click Computer from the start menu, select Properties and click Advanced
System Settings on the left.
Select the
Advanced tab and click the Environment Variables button on the bottom
Under
User Variables, select TEMP and click the
Edit button
Change the location for
Variable Value to the desired location ( i.e. C:\TEMP) and click OK
Do the same thing for TMP  and click
OK.
What’s more, it would be helpful for future troubleshooting if you could help to collect the following information:
Did Windows work fine before? If so,
what did you do after it worked fine last time? For example, installed some software or changed some settings.
Have you done some troubleshooting? If so, please tell us what you have done and the results to help us collect more useful information.

  • Cannot Install Java JDK on Windows 7 Home Premium

Hello all, I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post this question. I have an issue trying to install ANY JDK on Windows 7 Home Premium. When I run the install it throws an Error: 1722. I've tried looking around on Google but haven't found much. Has anyone else has this error?

I tried to install the windows7 64-bit jdk on my windows7 64-bit computer with 2 browsers, chrome and firefox. There was no difference between browsers. Then, I repeatedly installed and uninstalled many, many times, trying to figure out what was wrong.
After an easy install, I click on the jdk program to try to use it, and I get a pop-up saying something like, you have already installed this, do you want to install it again? That is all I get from the installed jdk program, there is nothing else the program will do, only give me that pop-up.
I then read and studied all the online info from all the java websites. Their website info does not mention this problem. Then I did all the you tube videos that deal with this problem. After watching a you tube video, I clicked start, and typed in cmd, and then typed javac; the message I am given is that javac is not recognized as a command.
Then, I tried to contact the java/oracle company many different ways, with chat and email, and got NO response; they are not addressing or responding to this situation in any way.
Last night, I contacted my computer company, and after speaking with them, they are saying they will go into my computer and make the necessary software changes to the windows 7 so that the java jdk will be properly working. Sounds great, but - they want to charge me a lot of $$MONEY. I got two price quotes, $80 and $89. It is not free, which is frustrating. The java download is free, but I do I have to pay to get it properly installed on my computer? Can anyone provide wise advise? Is there any way I can get it properly installed for free?
Also, someone mentioned that maybe my Norton Antivirus is preventing the proper jdk install, but I doubt it, since the norton antivirus has never before given me any problem.
    Please help. Thanks!

  • Cannot install FP 15 on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

This is my first time asking on the forums.  Normally I find answers on the interweb because other people have already traveled the path. Please forgive me if I break any protocols.
Your FAQ site talks about loading Flashplayer 15 onto computer and web browser, but skips right over the part I cannot get past: How to install it on my computer.
I downloaded it to my desktop.  I double clicked it and waited.  And waited.  No further activity.  No confirmations of any sort.
So I re-downloaded, thinking maybe my internet connection might have paused.  Again, no loading success.    I even followed one adobe site recommendation to unload the old one from my computer.  Now I don't even have the old version to fall back on.
Please help.  Everything needs FP to function.  I believe even my refrigerator and electric razor need it.
    Thanks.

    Hi jrobinsc1
To confirm, are you downloading the installer from get.adobe.com/flashplayer, or from a help page?  Can you please post the install.log file posted at C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash and C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash.  The files may be fairly large, if so you can upload them following the instructions here, How to share a document.

  • Cannot install Adobe Reader on Windows 7 Home Premium

The download is not a problem. I have tried the fixes on the Adobe page and through Google Search. Help!
The installation gives this error at about 97% complete:
Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly component {B708EB72-AA82-3EB7-8BB0-D845BA35C93D}. HRESULT: 0x80070002.

There are many error messages that we see posted day after day in this forum, but yours is definitely a new one - I have never seen that before!  My first reaction: it may have been a fluke; reboot and try the install again.
But I suspect that you have already tried that; with the same result?
Can you try if the MSI installer works better: http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/11.0.00/en_US/AdbeRdr11000_en_US.msi (Reader 11.0.0, US-English version).

  • Install Oracle 9i on Windows Vista Home Premium

I have a problem Installing Oracle 9i on Windows Vista Home Premium, I cant install it because it throws me an error message saying that is incompatible with my version of Windows. It is possible to install it with some patch or something??

The only patch I know of is called Windows XP.
In case you have not done any internet searches on this, even Oracle Database 10g was not compatible with Vista until Oracle applied some heavy patches and re-released it.
And since Oracle9i is officially deprecated (nearest thing to obsolete as to make no difference) I see no reason for Oracle to backport the patches.

Do you have any specific issues with your installation? I don't see why you shouldn't be able to install Oracle 11g on Windows 7. Found a quick blog post for you:

  • Cannot open iTunes 8 with Windows Vista Home Premium

Hopefully someone here can help me with my problem. I have a new Ipod Touch that needs itunes 8 to work. I have a new HP PC with Windows Vista Home Premium. The problem I'm having is: itunes & quicktime will download successfully onto my computer, but after download will not open. I receive the error message "itunes has stopped working...A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". I have tried to open them from desktop & from programs ...will not work. I was using itunes 7 with no problems, but after upgrade to the new version (itunes 8) I started having this problem. Here are a few of the things I have tried so far with help from just about every tech support I could find: uninstall & reinstall itunes (tried this several times..didn't help, but itunes installs successfully each time)...try installing quicktime & itunes separately (didn't help)..disable firewall & virus protection (didn't help)...turn off Data Execution Prevention (DEP) (didn't help)...tried saving software to discs & installing itunes that way (didn't help)...I have updated all of my software including windows vista...I've run virus checks...& pretty much run checks on anything else I could find. I occasionally get the same error message when I try to open Rhapsody, but not every time. I'm thinking of using my backup discs & restoring my computer to factory settings. To do that would be a last resort, but I am getting pretty close to desperate. Does anyone think restoring it would help? If anyone has any ideas for me to try I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much.

You need to to check to see if your Quicktime works normally. Itunes will not work if QUicktime doesn't.
If Quicktime doesn't work, describe what happens with any error message in full.
Go to your control panel and try to start QUicktime preferences. In XP you need to be in classic view to see it, I am not sure about Vista.
Give the full text of any error message.
Have you installed any of the following:
ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec, WinAVI video converter, Mpcstar
If so uninstall them, they are bad news for Quicktime.
    Report back with your results.
If Quicktime is OK have you seen the Apple troubleshooting article for launch failure, I guess you have probably done quite a bit of it anyway, but is worth going through it systematically:

  • Install error #1620 PrPro Windows Vista Home Premium

Install error 1620  when attempting to install CS4 "This installation package could not be opened"  (for each component of the software package).   Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit, Intel i7 processor.   Unable to install any components of PrPro.  This is after a clean install of Vista Home Premium (part number x12-24171-01)with discs provided by microsoft.

I would never install a new OS over the top of what is there... wipe/format the hard drive and install fresh
Also, if you have a 64bit computer with more than 4Gig of ram, think about the 64bit version of Win7
CS4 can't use more than about 3Gig of ram, but if the OS can use more to run better... that is what I would do
Just be aware that you should still run CS4 in WinXP compatibility mode, as I posted before
Also read the article below... I have NOT done this, but it seems to be an easy process

  • How to Install Oracle 10g in Windows 7 Home premium 64bit operating system

    Hi,
I am using Windows 7 Home premium 64bit operating system. While i was installing oracle 10g i got error and not able to install. How to install the Oracle 10g databse on this operating system. Is there any patch to install this or i have to use other version of oracle with window 7 operating system?
    Thanks in advance
    Mayank Adhikari

The argument would be who wants to install Oracle database on Windows 7. I think most probably by the developers who wants to "Try" something prior deal with a production database, right?
For a developer, installing database using the hack is more than NOT having a local database running from the local system. I installed all the products mentioned with windows7bugs post and used the following tools to successfully connect and retrive data from the database instances.
    Toad 9.7.x.x
    SQL Developer
    SQL/Plus
Developer 6i (Another hack, please check this link http://windows7bugs.wordpress.com/2010/03/01/installing-oracle-developer-forms-reports-6i-on-windows-7-64bit/).
I think the discussion about whether all the features of client/server are still available with such a hacked installation is meaningless as far the information requested was strictly for Windows 7, not for a Server OS.

  • Re: Install Oracle 11g on windows 7 Home Premium?

Can any one let me know whether windows 7 home premium supports oracle 11g 32bit version?

    Welcome to the forums !
No - Home versions of Win are not supported for any Oracle installs. One option you have is to create a Linux VM on your Win 7 machine and then install 11gR2 in the Linux VM - pl see my blog (linked in my profile) for detailed steps

  • Cannot load iTunes Match onto Windows 7 Home Premium.

Loved the idea of iTunes match and was eager to be able to have solid backup across my PC's and my phone. My XP computer was able to get through the process with no glitches. However my Windows 7 Home Premium PC crashes when attempting to access Genius, iTunes Match, and occasionally the iTunes strore itself. Have tried the multiple downloads of the 10.5.1 64 bit version, clean install etc...anyone find another option??

  • Install OSX instead of Windows 7 Home Premium

I have installed Windows 7 Home Premium on my I Mac and now most programms don´t work and this is the reason why i want to install OSX again but I don´t know who this works... so please can you help me ?

Then your only option is to have the original OS X and iLife install discs. If you don't have them you might be able to order them from Apple for a small fee.
If your Mac originally came with OS X Snow Leopard or a previous version of OS X YOU NEED those original system discs.
