I cannot seem to install Flash Player without a password and I do not have one.  What to do?

The password that's being requested (required) is your user account password ON YOUR SYSTEM (not for Adobe). You CANNOT install without an administrator account, and you CANNOT set up an administrator account without a password.

  • Cannot install flash version 10.1.0 onto a mac 10.4.11

    Hello,
I cannot install flash version 10.1.0 onto a mac 10.4.11 and therefore cannot use YouTube or the BBCIplayer. Is there a compatability problem?

I am in the same boat. I cannot watch flash videos on the BBC website or on BBC iPlayer, although all other flash videos (YouTube for example) are fine.
For reasons that passeth all understanding, they work with the PPC version of Firefox, called TenFourFoxG5.app, once you have anabled plug-ins, as it does not natively support Flash.
You can download TenFourFoxG5 from here:
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
Now for the intersting bit: TenFourFox, like Firefox, does not support most plug-ins. Unless you are prone to headaches (in which case don't) you can read about that here:
    http://code.google.com/p/tenfourfox/wiki/PluginsNoLongerSupported
    But there is a workaround!
Open TenFourFox and type in the address bar: about:config (no spaces) and click return. This gives you a warning that it might harm the application. Ignore that and click on 'I'll be careful, I promise' and you get the config file that you can edit - with great care.
    Look/search (scroll down) for: tenfourfox.plugins.enabled
Set it to true. (Double click it to toggle it)
Now close TenFourFox, open it again, and Flash will now work, as it now uses the plug-ins that Safari has stored.
I am using Flash 10.1.102.64 in TenFourFox and it works just fine.

Cant install Flash 11 without turning off IE???

This typically occurs when reinstalling the same version, however there can be other cases where your current browser needs to be closed so that Flash Player files can be unlocked.  Are you running into an error where the installer won't continue?

  • Cannot install Flash Player in Windows 8.1

Tried to install Flash Player in Windows 8.1 (32 bit).  Used all the instructions; i.e, disable saftey, enable scripting, etc. An install box says Update KB2934802 is already installed.  Searched computer for KB.....02 and Flash Player.  Says none exist.  Any suggestions?

Ever since Windows 8, Flash Player for Internet Explorer is written by Adobe ONLY. It's embedded by Microsoft, and you cannot:
    - Update it
    - Download it
    - Install it
    - Reinstall it
from here. You MUST update Flash Player ActiveX (for Internet Explorer) through Windows update. But... Using Windows 8.1 means you were forced to update to IE11, which has it's own problems and they can be summed up in three words...
    "User-Agent Strings"
That doesn't mean a lot, I'm sure, but it's the root of your problems, and Flash Player has nothing to do with it.
Microsoft "rewrote" the User-Agent Strings for the abomination they call their latest and greatest browser. User-Agent Strings are what websites use to identify the browser you're using and provide the proper content for it's browser engine, like ActiveX stuff, and Flash or HTML5 video. Thanks to the geniuses in Redmond, WA, the User-Agent Strings for IE11 (which has a Trident engine), ID it as either "Gecko" (Firefox) or "Webkit" (Chrome). Problem is: when the site the directs to the content for one of these two engines, the Trident engine in IE can't intepret it and the site then sees IE as an "unidentified" browser.
The problem with an unidentified browser is that the plug-ins in that browser aren't recognized either, so even though you're up to date, it says you need the latest Flash Player when you use IE11. YouTube... has converted to HTML5 video so if it doesn't detect Flash Player, it can display HTML5 (MP4) video which requires no plug-in to play. Facebook can't do that, because HTML5 doesn't apply to games... only video.
Microsoft has no plans to "fix" the mess thay've created because they think it's a great idea to block you out of the websites you visit.
They recommend using "Compatibility View" and pretending that you're using an older verison of IE... Problem with that is that it's seen limited success, and you have to enable it for EVERY page that has problems... individually.
The REAL solution, like the original problem can also be summed up in three words:
    "Use another browser"
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • Help! Cannot install Flash Player 11 on 10.8.5

Hello -  I am now desparate having checked both Adobe and Apple forums as I have tried to upgrade Flash on my Imac Mountain Lion 10.8.5 (Safari 6.1) and continually get General Installation errors. I have followed every thread that I can find on this (including the classic how to do a clean install of Flash) and cannot get past 55% installation before it crashes. This happens every time without fail.
Done a clean install of Mountain Lion, switched accounts and nothing works. Simply cannot download Flash.
if anyone can help that would be amazing!
    Thanks
    matt

Odds are, you inadvertently deleted the mach_kernel file that the 10.8.5 update made visible.
That's been the cause of the "General Installation Error" since the update was released.
See: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1318151 for instructions and a download that may help.
Many people have had to reinstall their OS, but some were able to remedy it by downloading and installing OS 10.9 (it's free, so it couldn;t hurt to try if the other fix doesn't work)

  • Cannot Install Flash Player: Win7 x64, FF 15/Chrome 22

    Chrome Version 22.0.1229.79 m
    Firefox Version: 15.0.1
    Windows 7, x64
I get the "application is in use" error when I use the installer downloaded from the website.  Get it in safe mode.  Use taskmgr and ensure firefox and chrome are not running.  IE is not installed at all (Run > iexplore gives an error message 'cannot find iexplore').  I have tried to delete everything in the %tmp% folder, but I cannot get rid of
FXSAPIDebugLogFile (Google search shows this is a printing-related thing) or PDApp (Google sdearch shows this is somehow related to Adobe)
I've tried using 'Unlocker' which has let me get rid of files that are "in use by Windows" before, but that won't let me get rid of it.  The files are either in use by Windows Explorer or "cannot be found, please ensure something something something", I only get the 'in use' error message at time of posting.  I"m trying to clear my %tmp% based off of someone else having the same annoying error.
Ive already used the uninstaller to get rid of whatever version of Adobe Flash -was- installed.  Whatever we did have caused Firefox to lock up on pretty mujch any page with a limited script (Youtube.com > enter > freeze.  Google search > freeze.  Flash based web game > freeze, my guild's website's splash page with two links and an image > OK, open forums > freeze).
And to make htings even more annoying, the installer deletes itself on failure, which means I have to open the browser (That can't be open while I install) to grab it again.  I now have about 15 copies of the installer sprawled across my desktop.
    Help. T_T

Could you try the steps that I outline in this post:  http://forums.adobe.com/message/4723798#4723798
Please let me know how it goes.

  • Cannot install Flash Player for Firefox

I am running Windows XP HE with SP4.  IE and the latest version of Firefox are installed.
In both IE and Firefox, on attempting to install Flash Player with the standard link, I get an error message in a small window opens, title "getPlus+(R): Error," text "Unable to load a GUI," "OK" box.  I got around this by locating a standalone installation for IE, which downloaded an installation file to my computer.  However, this does not work in Firefox, even when obtaining access to that link from Firefox.  The file executes, but Flash Player still shows as not installed in Firefox.
I cannot find any separate standalone installer for Flash Player for Firefox.
This error message appears to be generated by the Adobe Installer, a getPlus product.  My thought was to uninstall the Adobe Installer, and try to start over.  However, the Adobe Installer shows up in the list of installed programs reached through Control Panel, BUT clicking the button to uninstall the program does nothing.  The program remains listed.  I cannot find a location for the Adobe Installer program on my disk drive.

As I said in my first message, Adobe DLM appears in the "Add/Remove Programs" dialogue box, but clicking the Remove button doesn't do anything.  The screen flickers for a couple of seconds, and Adobe DLM remains listed as an installed program.  There is no installed program listed under the description getPlus or NOS.
I found useful information at http://www.findmysoft.com/news/Patch-to-Fix-Critical-Adobe-Download-Manager-Vulnerability- Released/ .  Not to put too fine a point on it, information at various locations shows that the DLM has been a troublesome program.
IE did not list Adobe DLM, getPlus, or NOS as an addon.  Firefox listed "getPlusPlus for Adobe 16263" as a plugin. There was not other extension or plugin listed under Adobe DLM, getPlus, or NOS.
Based on the information at the link cited above, I tried the following. First, in Firefox, I disabled the getPlusPlus for Adobe 16263 plugin.  Removing it was not an option.  First, using services.msc, I disabled the getPlus Helper service.  Removing it was not an option.  Third, I deleted the directory c:\Program Files\NOS and its subtree.  I did not find anything relevant in the Application Data directories.
I then went to the link on the Adobe Web site to install Flash Player.  (I know, it's already installed, but I wanted to see if the DLM would now function.)  This time, the first thing that happened upon clicking the link to install it was that the site completed a new installation of DLM.  However, on proceeding to the installation of Flash Player itself, I got the same error message noted above, "A GUI could not be loaded."  So nothing changed.  Opening services.msc again, I noted that the getPlus Helper service had been reinstalled, and was no longer disabled.  The c:\Program Files\NOS directory had been recreated.  I tried manually starting the getPlus Helper service, and trying the installation again through the Adobe Web site.  Same result, no help.  And note that DLM is not being cleaned up automatically as part of this process, as is supposed to happen.
I'm thinking that a previous installation of DLM left behind some corrupted relic that is preventing it from running properly.  Very likely an incorrect registry entry.  But good luck finding that one without help.
NOS Micro has a link to "Contact Our Support Team" at http://www.nosltd.com/index.php/support .  Maybe as a last resort see if they would respond?  Note that I can't locate a way to get support from Adobe except by paying $39.95 per incident for telephone support.
    Thanks!

  • Cannot install Flash Player on Windows 7 64 Bit

I have a Dell with Windows 7 64 Bit laptop. I cannot install the adobe flash player. I have seen a lot posted on here, but am really lost. Can anyone explain to me what I can do to fix the problem. Really upset because this is a new computer. Thanks for any help.

Hello All, I want to first say I appreciate your help.
I did find a solution. In adobe there is a 'lab' section. Here there is a spot to click on Adobe Flash 10.1 after installing this and restarting my computer the problem is fix.
Here is the link to what I used.
Hope this helps someone else like it did me.

  • Cannot install flash player partially uninstalled

    Dear community members,
I successfully installed Flash Player back in April. It was working well until a couple of weeks ago, when video clips wouldn't work sometimes, but did with a bit of coaxing. The sites affected were - Facebook, Iview (TV), Youtube, and my bank's website. The same applied when playing games. The situation has now degraded to the extent that I cannot access any of the sites listed, and get video/voice.
I downloaded the instructions to uninstall, and downloaded the .exe file and ran it (no problems). However, the instructions said to delete files in the system32\Macromed\flash directory, but when I tried to I was told I didn't have the right privileges. I have administrator rights. How higher can one Go?
I tried to install again, only to be told that Flash Player is already installed. How do I fix Flash Player, when I cannot uninstall or install it? Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
    Regards,
    Gazza
