I cannot install Illustrator CS3 on my iMac

I'm trying to install Illustrator CS3 on my new iMac. I'm using firewire to install CD-rom from my laptop onto my new iMac but there is an error as program finishes install.

Cannot install ps CS3

base problem: Cannot install Photoshop CS3, it keeps asking for Illustrator CS4 disc.
Story:
I purchased photoshop cs3 a while back. Upgraded to a better computer and purchased Illustrator CS4. I installed illustrator CS4 BEFORE installing Photoshop CS3 on the new machine. When I went to install PS CS3, it asked for the IllCS4 disc. I put it in, and nothing. Round and round. asking for the PS CS3 disc, then the Ill CS4 disc etc...
Read the forums, found a thread about uninstalling Ill CS4 then trying PS CS3. I did that. I used the WinCS4CleanUpDatabaseUtility, and used the Windows install clean up utility as well.
However, after all this, when i try to install PS CS3, it continues to ask me for the Ill CS4 disc.
Can anyone please assist.

Please check, if you really deleted all Adobe apps (including Adobe Reader etc.) and the caps.db is deleted. it can be found in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\caps. It records any installs/uninstalls, so if it#s still there, it would still have info on previous CS4 stuff which may interfere with getting CS3 on the system.

Trying to install Illustrator CS3 on Windows 8.1 and get error message-installer database is corrupt

When I try to install Illustrator CS3 on a windows 8.1 machine and get the following error message. " Installer database is corrupt". Have tried rebooting computer etc. and still the same problem, any suggestions?

BrianDany I am sorry you are facing difficulties installing Creative Suite 3 under Windows 8.1. Windows 8.1 was not available during the time period which Creative Suite 3 was developed and the last updates released.
I would recommend reviewing your PDApp.log and possibly AMT3lib.log file for error messages which are preventing the installation. You can find details on how to locate and interpret the log files at Troubleshoot installation with install logs | CS3, CS4. You are welcome to post any specific error messages which you discover to this discussion.

Cannot install Illustrator CS5 on a Mac: Keep getting exit code 6 error

I have been having trouble installing CS5 Design Premium on Mac OS X Version 10.7.5 all day. Having been reading forums and finally was able to get everything to install (except Illustrator) by uninstalling everything, running Mac CS5 Cleanup Utility, then reinstalling. Still cannot install Illustrator for some reason. Tried contacting Adobe Online chat but they won't help me because CS5 is no longer supported. Keep getting Exit Code 6 (see below). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I am trying to install Illustrator CS3 onto my new MBAir. I have the CDROM for CS3 and want to download onto the Air. Tried copying the files via TimeMachine share but didn't work. Do I need to buy an external USB to download or is there another option?

Adobe applications typically place files in all sorts of locations, so trying to install Illustrator from a TM backup or copying from another system is very difficult since you probably can't get all the files. You'll need either an external CD/DVD drive or another computer with a drive you can access, either for Remote Disk:

or if it's a Mac to make a disk image of the Illustrator installer CD which you can then copy to the MBA and run.

Do you own Illustrator CS3? An older version should not only not be asking you to utilize a newer version in any way, it couldn't even know about the existence of it.

Installing Illustrator CS3

If you do not own the CS3 Suite, installing Illustrator can be a major problem:
If you are going to load multiple programs (In my case CS3 programs Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign, you must install Illustrator FIRST or it will not install! After three days of attempted installation, I foulnd the secret:
1) DELETE ALL Adobe programs from your hard drive (ALL!!!!)
2) Open the updated AdobeExtendedScriptToolkit 2.0.1 download but do not run
3) Install Illustrator CS3
4) After it installs, open Illustrator 13.0.0 and select updater 13.0.1 from CS3; immediately close Illustrator when download begins
5) Update CS3 13.0.2 from open Illustrator 13.0.1; immediately close Illustrator when download begins (disregard "Fails" notice if it appears as it does load correctly)
6) Reload Photoshop, InDesign, etc.
NOTE: If Photoshop and/or InDesign is installed BEFORE installing Illustrator, the program will crash when Ilustrator's orange "splash" page appears.
To put it bluntly, this is the worst install I have ever had with an Adobe program. I will greatly question an further updates after this (you may have lost a customer who has used your products since the first versions of Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign!) Yuk!!!

My InDesign is crashing, even after reinstall - I Have CR2.
And my Adobe Updater appears to be disfunctional.
Any work arounds?

Restarted the computer and re-installed the entire Adobe Suite but received the same error message again. Adobe Flash professional runs fine also, so from what I have read at Installation error DW050, DW020 | CS5.5 | Windows the adobe flash player error is irrelevant.

Cannot Install Illustrator CS5.5 - Mac Lion

I bought CS5.5 Production Premium and have tried unsuccessfully to install it about a dozen times now. After searching the forums I've tried a wide variety of things to get the install to work, but no matter what, when the installation is complete, Illustrator hasn't been installed. The errors I get depend on the actions I've taken before the install. I've tried uninstalls, repairing permissions, deleting folders, installing in safe mode, installing Illustrator separately... nothing has been successful.
I'm on a 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM running Lion 10.7.1 (Installing off of disks)

Hi ZomboTheClown,
Try this solution and let me know if it works.
Open on Finder.
Click on Go Menu > Go To Folder.
Type in /Library/ hit Return.
Find the folder ColorSync.
Inside ColorSync folder find and delete the folder named Recommended.
Once the Recommended folder is deleted try to install the software.

Cannot install Fireworks CS3

Each time I try to install Fireworks I get the message,
"Cannot install... please close Adobe Updater application."
However, this application is in fact not running. Should I
uninstall the updater? It appears there are several...

Cannot install Photoshop CS3 - Installer just dissappeared

I have an issue installing Photoshop CS3 as follow:
I have removed all Photoshop CS3 Beta manually (Use control panel, deleted files and registries) as instructed in this web and get rid of all thing involved Adobe out of my computer.
When I clicked Setup.exe, a setup windows with progressive bar (See in http://www.thetaforce.com/image/cs3installer.jpg ) appeared shortly and then disappear!
Then nothing is happenned further. No error message. It just disappeared. I wait for an hour but nothing happened.
I tried to run Windows in clean mode (msconfig -> disable unneccessary services) and also disable Antivirus and Firewall etc. But this problem persists.
I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium (32Bit) and have Intel Centrino Duo 2.0GHz with 1.5GB of Ram (DDR2) and 100GB HDD. Graphic shared Intel 945GM Express Chipset.

I finally got CS3 to install last night, I decided to vanilla install XP sp2 from scratch using a ghost copy.
I then ran the installer from the same physical disk but diffrent partition and I got 2 errors, CS3 and shared components failed to install. I was just about to throw the towel in, having cleanned my pc back to nothing but base XP sp2 install and then I thought why not put the whole 460mb package on the root or C:.
I ran the installer and uncompressed the file, which created the installer and executed. The options screen popup (at last!!) and I chose the default install location and few minutes later, CS3 was installed and running.
I then spent the next couple of hours updating XP with 80+ security patches, IE7 and all my other applications.
This may seem a bit drastic, but I can only conclude that this problem had nothing to do with CS3beta but rather a conflict with one or some XP security updates / patches.
Also, there must be something inherently wrong with the CS3 installer scripts, perhaps absolute rather dynamic file addressing as it just would not work if I put the installer on a different drive.
I've burnt nigh on 20 hours on this upgrade and finally have it running.
Focusing on the positives, my pc is running a lot quicker and has less bloatware than before, however getting a PC to be stable takes a lot of time and effort, which I now have to contend with. In fact, IE 7 is already crashing more than it did previsouly!
Looking on the bright side, I finally have access to my CS3beta PSDs with LR working in harmony.
I do hope others can solve the problem in a less drastic manner. For me, I felt it better to work from a know XP build to isolate the many variables.

Cannot install photoshop CS3!!

Hello there. I currently have Windows vista installed on a laptop. I recently tried to install Photoshop Extended. However, when it get's to "initializing Adobe Photoshop" It just stops...nothing pops up. I had it installed on my computer before then I had to restore my computer using recovery cds. I was able to install Adobe After Efects but can't install photoshop CS3. It has an entry in my add/remove program in control panel but when I click uninstall nothing happens.

yeah, i had the same problem as you too, but i got it fixed =]
I think this happens because we uninstalled photoshop incorrectly
heres how i did it, its kinda risky though...
go to your start and click on run and type in "regedit"
then from the beginning of your registry (by this i mean go all the way top of your registry and click on your My Computer) hold ctrl+f and search for "photoshop"
delete (the folder) everything that is related to adobe products (careful though, some registry are not related to adobe...)
just press F3 to search next...
you might want to try other search terms, i used "cs3" and "adobe" but the bad thing about this is a lot of other adobe products show up

Cannot install Dreamweaver CS3 on Mac

I have a MacBook, OS X 10.5.8. Processor: 2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Memory: 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
I am trying to install Dreamweaver CS3 on my Mac and have had no luck. There is no "Setup" as specified in the help I've found. There is Setup.exe, but that just opens in TextEdit. I've tried snooping on the disc but have found nothing that will execute.
How on earth do I install this software???

Well if you recently bought it try returning it or stop payment on your credit card. All discs from Adobe recently (going back probably to CS2) carry one version or the other. And given that you just got CS3 tells me the version was purchased off of Ebay, Craigslist or some other form of reselling because all commercial sales channels will be selling only CS4 at this point in time.
