I cannot install OS X Lion on my MacBook Pro. Installing time is in negative hours. (-2,147,483,648 hours)

At first, my macbook couldn't start up. It only displayed apple logo with a spinning wheel on grey screen for hours and hours. Then I decided to reinstall the OS. I tried so many times to install but the installing time said thousands of hours remaining to complete . I left the computer for days but  it didn't install OS. I tried that connecting the Ethernet cable as well but it didn't work.  Then I took out all my important files by connecting it to another macbook and formatted the hard drive. Then tried to install OS again.  But still didn't work. I checked on you tube and changed the hard drive cable as well. Still didn't work. I cannot install OS X Lion on my MacBook Pro. Installing time is in negative hours. (-2,147,483,648 hours). Seriously looking for help.

  • Help -2,147,483,648 hours remining reinstalling OS X Lion

Hi! I just recently purchased a 2012 MB Pro from a private party and today I erased the hard drive via disk utility to start over as new user from scratch, now trying to reinstall Lion over wifi connection and I have the same exact problem! Can you advise? What were you able to do to resolve the issue? Thanks for your help!
"But while it was reinstalling the bar was 100% though the time remaining was about -2,147,483,648 hours and 37 minutes remaining. The minutes change every second (13 to 37 to 1 to 30 and so on) though the negative hours stay the same."

Thanks for the feedback, I allowed the install over 45 minutes to see if the time remaining would change but it did not. So I quit the install, rebooted, and then started the install over again two or three times. No luck, same issue. It's weird how others who have had this problem, it is the same exact number: -2,147,483,648 How has anyone who's experienced this issue gotten it resolved?

Ever since I purchased from Appstore, location Hungary, and upgraded to OS X Lion on my MacBook Pro, during downloads and installation of various apps or software, I get prompts part in English and part in Hungarian, which is very irritating, I prefer the prompts to be in one language, that is English. is there any solution?

Go to system preferences/language & text/language and use the Edit button to uncheck the box for Magyar/Hungarian and restart.

  • Installing 10.6 on iMac using MacBook Pro install DVD

    Hi
I have a 24inch intel 2 core iMac from early 2008 with 10.5.6 installed and I just bought a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard. I want to upgrade my iMac to 10.6 but before I purchase it I wanted to check if my apps etc would work.
I used the MacBook Pro dvd to install to an external drive and then I restored that drive. I then migrated my iMac install unto the external 10.6 drive and I am now running from the external drive on the iMac.
All seems to be ok for now but should this work? Do the different cd's have specific drivers or setup specific to the device i.e. might I be missing software or have the wrong software installed and thus invalidating my test?
Yes, I know what I have done is not strictly allowed but there is no other way to test an install without purchasing and I can't afford downtime to fix any problems.
    Thanks

    Hi cypher6x;
If you are willing to ignore the fact of it being illegal, then you will be leaving yourself open to the fact that the vast majority of the time when one uses hardware specific DVD for different hardware it doesn't install at all. When it does it usually causes more problems that it is worth so go ahead and pay the $29 and do it legally and correctly.
    Allan
It installs and runs. I will purchase the proper dvd *IF all my apps works ok* otherwise I will not be upgrading anytime soon. I am just trying to ascertain if my test is valid.
It would cost Apple more to package up different dvds for all their products. I imagine they may have different installers though that selects the items.
Either or, it will be hard to say unless I do a diff against fresh installs using both dvd's.

  • How do I install OS X Lion on my MacBook Pro after wiping it clean, and I don't have the original installation disk I bought?

I'm selling my MacBook Pro (2009) which has Lion installed. After I wipe the computer clean, I assume the system will go back to its factory settings that it came with. I'll need to reinstall Lion, but I don't have the original disk. How do I proceed to reinstall it?

Did the Macbook come with Lion preinstalled or did you upgrade to it?
You need to sell it with the original OS installed, so if that was not Lion, you need to get the install disks by calling Apple and asking for replacement disks (they'll need your serial number).
FWIW, Lion did not come with an install disk - it is download only. If Lion was preinstalled, then post back for instructions on how to do that.

  • How to get install disk for lion on 2012 macbook pro

How do i get a reinstall disk for drivers and lion as well as ilife so i can install a new ssd drive in my computer

As Niel said, you have to install OS X through OS X Recovery. Respecting to iLife, if your Mac came with DVDs, you should have it on the Applications DVD that came with the Mac, and if it didn't come with DVDs, open App Store > Purchases, and install iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand.
Then, if you want, you can download OS X from the App Store instead of using Recovery, so you can burn the installer onto a DVD or USB drive with Lion Diskmaker, so you won't have to redownload OS X each time you want to reinstall. As you have a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro, it will only work if it came with OS X Lion and you upgraded to Mountain Lion

  • Reinstall Mountain Lion on 13" macbook pro retina

hi! i am trying to reinstall mountain lion on my new 13" macbook pro retina, however, i cannot proceed and i encounter the message "We could not complete your purchase. OS X Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer." please help!

I've called Apple Care and they learned me to the following in order to complete a clean install from Mountain Lion on a MacBook Pro Retina (otherwise it won't work): http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11273
But, like Clinton said, shouldn't your rMBP come with Moutain Lion on it? And if so, why can't you upgrade to 10.8.2 because I could (with software update) - but my problem was to clean reinstall ML on it from the App Store (that you stil can't do with a rMBP btw).
And a small question off-topic: How long is your (average) shutdown time on your rMBP 13"?

  • I've just installed mountain lion on my macbook pro. I cannot open preview and it is also stalling the log out sequence? How can I solve this

I've just installed Mountain Lion on my Macbook pro and cannot now open Preview. I've partly solved the reading of PDF documents by installing Adobe Reader, but Preview is also stalling the log out process. Any suggestions how I might solve this annoying trait would be most appreciated. Many thanks.

Just an FYI, normally you give the 'solved' award to the person who gave you the answer, not to yourself.

  • How many times can I install mountain lion on my macbook pro?

My Macbook pro came with lion pre-installed. However, I bought at a time that allowed me to update to mountain lion for free. Therefore, I wanted to know if I will have to pay to re-download mountain lion on my Macbook pro if I have to restore the system to its factory settings?

No, since you have already "purchased" (even if for free) 10.8 on the App Store with your AppleID, you own it, so you can reinstall as much as you want.

  • Since upgrading to mountain lion on my macbook pro, i cannot email photos from iphoto.

Since upgrading to mountain lion on my macbook pro, i cannot email photos from iphoto.
i can select the picture but when sending it, an error symbol appears.
    Any ideas ?

This doesn't work for me at all. I tried entering exactly the same information that I used to set up my regular email account and I'm still getting an error message. I even tried switching to using my gmail account and neither one worked. Then it got hung up and had to repair my database! I have a lot of photos on my Mac (thank goodness they're backed up) and I was really sweating it for a moment.
Apple is so easy until it's not. I find this to be really aggrevating and I'm irritated that it hasn't been fixed. In fact I did an online search and someone described this same problem in detail and it was exactly what was happening to me. Same error messages.
I'm frustrated that Apple keeps updating it's operating system and then we go through these glitches.
And while I'm at it, I have never had such a frustrating time using my login information as I have to get into this forum! Why do they make it so difficult? There's just something about the way it's worded that get's me messed up every time. Meanwhile, at least get iPhoto fixed!

I installed Lion on my MacBook Pro and the Finder keeps quitting - how do i fix it?
Worse, i can't force quit the finder and get it to relaunch - the command won't work.
Most of the Lion software also won't work - iTunes, Mail, iCal - and only some of the preferences work.
    The message:
    Finder quit unexpectedly.
Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple.
Won't go away no matter if i hit Ignore or Report...
I have no clue what to do...
    Any help?

Does that happen if you boot into "safe mode"?  Launch the Console utility and look for messages that might explain the problem.  If you see a "crash report", post its contents here.

Cannot install Windows XP Professional on my MacBook Pro using Boot Camp. When I get to the point of inserting the Windows disc and clicking 'Install' at the Boot Camp Assistant screen, it keeps telling me that it cannot find the Install Disc. The installation disc I am using is a new full install disc. I have tried to do the same thing using a Windows 7 disc with the same results. Does anyone have any answers. I am getting desperate!
