I cannot install/upgrade Adobe Flash Player

An email came to me with something sent on Adobe.  I could not open it because I needed an update on my Adobe Flash player.  I tried to update it and nearly finish with the installation when I keep getting the message that I need to close Safari  which IS closed.  I can get up to 97% installed and then a box pops up that says I have to close Safari.  I open Safari and then close it and then hit the "retry button" but it keeps bouncing back that I need to close Safari.  HELP.

Hello,
On Mac, closing a browser, or app window, closes only that instance of the app.  It does not terminate the application.  Please refer to How do I quit Safari (or another browser/app) in OS X for information on how to properly terminate Safari and proceed with Flash Player installation.

  • Cannot Install/Upgrade Adobe Flash Player in Yosemite

I have been unable to install/upgrade Adobe Flash Player since installing Yosemite.  I have uninstalled the program, as suggested on the Adobe website, however, I still cannot install Flash Player.  Can anyone help?

Have you tried downloading the full installer and then installing it locally? You can get the DMG installer for the current version of Flash here.

  • Cannot install new adobe flash player, download tells me to turn firefox off, i can't figure out how to do this. i get this message even when i try from your request to upload new program. karen miller

please help i found some info but it's too high tech for me to understand example go taskmaster>processes tab exit firefox.exe. can't even figure out where this is! if firefox is going to control upgrades then there should be a less frustrating way to achieve this!!! please advise my next step is uninstall firefox & use another internet program.

Firefox must not be open when the Flash installer is run. Use the following information and instructions.....
There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash:
*an '''ActiveX version''' for IE only
*a '''Plugin version''' for most other browsers including Firefox
*On a Windows system, you should always update both individually.
'''''You do not appear to have the Plugin version for Firefox installed. ''''' If you did, in Add-ons > Plugins you would see "Shockwave Flash ''(version)''". If "Shockwave Flash" is there and is disabled, click the "Enable" button.
Check your Plugins often --> http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
*only the most popular/used Plugins are known by this page
*page will detect only installed, '''''enabled''''' Plugins
    '''<u>Install or update Adobe Flash</u>'''<br />
#'''<u>Using Firefox</u>''', go to the following link and SAVE the download to your desktop so you can find it later. Un-check any items on that page that you do not want to download (i.e., "McAfee Security Scan Plus":
#When the download is finished, close Firefox (File > Exit '''''OR''''' Firefox button > Exit)
#Click or double-click on the file you just saved to your desktop
#*In the installation window that appears, click the box to the left of "I have read and...." to place a check mark in the box
#*The "Install" button in the lower right corner will now be highlighted, click it.
    #*The installation is quick.
#Start Firefox and test your installation here: https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
#To update/install the ActiveX version for IE '''''only''''', repeat the process, '''<u>but use IE to go to the above website</u>'''.

  • I have been unable to upgrade adobe flash player software.

I am using a recently purchase MacBook Air running Yosemite 10.10.1. Upon receiving a warning that I needed to upgrade Adobe Flash Player Software, I down loaded  and installed the latest version several times. I still, however, continue to receive the "Need to Upgrade" message when trying to view online videos.

A genuine alert that Flash is outdated and blocked is shown on this page. Follow the instructions on the page in that case. Otherwise, the alert is fake and someone is trying to scam you into installing malware. If you see fake update alerts on more than one website, ask for instructions.

  • Why I have to install different adobe flash player

use two browsers, one Maxthon Browser, the other firefox. The Maxthon is used to viewing domestic webs, the latter foreign webs. I intsalled an adobe flash player. When I use Maxthon, it works well. but then I turn to Firefox, I just cannot open the flash on my jersey web, saying unavailable. Someone told me that I have to install another adobe flash player for Firefox. I did as told. and finally it works. but why I have to install different players for different browsers, how can I use just one that works both for Maxthon and Firefox or other browsers.

I'd never heard of Maxthon before, but after reviewing their site it looks like it's based on Internet Explorer.  If that's the case, IE uses ActiveX technology, while all other browsers are plug-in based.  Flash Player has two versions, one for IE (ActiveX) and another for all other browsers (Firefox, Opera, Chrome, etc.)

  • Upgrade adobe flash player on windows 8 ?

How do I upgrade adobe flash player on windows 8?
    Please help some one..

It depends on your web browser of choice, not OS. If you use IE or FireFox, go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and you will be able to download and install the lastest version of Flash Player.
Chrome has it's own built in Flash Player that updates silently in the background, but you can use the link in Chrome to install the standard Flash Player as well. Then you just need to modify the settings for Chrome to look to the standard Flash Player instead of the one built into Chrome. But that usually requires a specific need.
I've also moved this to the Flash Player Forum.

Check System Preferences > Flash Player > Advanced
Click:  Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
    Then empty the Safari cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select:  Show develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop > Empty Caches
Quit and relaunch Safari then try Flash on a website for sound.

  • I cannot open without adobe flash player, is there a work around?

I cannot open without adobe flash player is there a work around?

Go to the App Store and download a browser app like Puffin, which will give you some Flash ability.  Check the App store to see if the site you are trying to watch the video from has an App.

  • Installing the adobe flash player

I have not installed the adobe flash player because it says I might have to disable my virus safety net during the download process.  I do not want to put my computer at risk for a virus at any time.  How can I access the flash player without having to disable my virus safety net?

Depending what antivirus software you use, you may not need to do that.  Some very aggressive AV may prevent Flash Player from being installed; most however do not.
Tell us more about your OS and AV, and someone will tell you what to do.

  • Because I have to install the Adobe Flash Player Active X or Normal?

Hello All, Fisrs, forgive my  English because I am Spanish.
I can think of something funny to me. I have installed the Adobe Flash Player 10 Active X and I have Explorer 8 ( 32 bits ) , Windows Vista home Premium and every day asking me to install the Flash Player.
Happens if install the same to Adobe Flash Player 10.3.183.5, in the same version yo have.
I see that every day, if I look at the progras I have istalled , see this Adobe Flas Player ( active X or normal ) with a blanc icon, not the typical figure of the program.
Not to do so the program gets installed forever. When yo reinstall it and the icon's own sotware.
I really apreciate it that I help them see than hapening and how I can solve. Thank you very match.
    Grettings.

    Hello and thank you
I am attaching a photo of what I have in the Flash folder you indicate, as a photo:
If it not attached the link see large:http://imageshack.us/f/840/sinflashejecutat.jpg/
And then run the Flash every day . Which I can only do so by accessing or a websit that you ask me, give OK when it asks me to activate the Active X and contiunue the process because if not, would have to install it each time since the Adobe web site.
You run the Flash Player 10 Active X , this would be the Flash folder you see in the picture below:
and also attached the lin for if you are not good:

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
When you install an application, you have to type your user password, which is different than your Apple ID password. You set your user password when you got your computer.
If you do not remember the user password, follow these steps to reset the user password > http://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4101 You will have to reset your Keychain > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1631

  • Flash Installer cannot download. "Adobe Flash Player could not be installed."

Flash Installer cannot download. Finally get the message,  "Adobe Flash Player could not be installed." I already uninstalled the old copy, now I have no Flash Player.

My issue was identical.... days of frustrating downloads and initializing but no installation........ UNTIL I chose to not use the default installer and chose 'Save File'. Now I have the latest Flash installed in OS 10.8.5 no problems !!
This time a long download of 16MB arrived in the downloads folder that actually worked.
Prior to this, all downloads were around 1.6MB and there was no .dmg in the package.
I got my download under where it says "Still having problems?"
    Hope this helps you.
